      For floors that sparkle!

The flat that I moved into last summer has laminate floors throughout. This is great as I suffer from a dust allergy as well as hayfever and dust can accumulate in carpets and be difficult to clean which will just serve to aggravate the condition. I try to keep the laminate as clean as possible and give it a good wipe down several times a week. In order to protect the flooring I wanted to use a cleaning product that had specifically been formulated for laminate flooring. It was whilst browsing the aisles that I came across Cif wood floor cleaner, which seemed like just what I was looking for. The cleaner comes in a few different varieties but the one that I opted for was the camomile one. This retails at around £1.50 for a 1 litre bottle, though can often be found on special offer. The cleaner is housed in a see through plastic bottle through which the orange coloured liquid can be seen. The bottle has a large handle through which it can be gripped and a screw top plastic lid which also doubles as a measuring cup. The label on this bottle states that this product is suitable for varnished wood and laminate floors and leaves a fresh fragrance and a brilliant shine without any residue. The cleaner is also suitable for surfaces such as kitchen cupboards and washable wooden furniture, as well as vinyl and ceramic tiles. The instructions state that to use pour three cups of in half a bucket of water. That would be too much for cleaning the floor in my flat so I use around half that amount. On occasion I have also used this product neat, though I am not sure you're supposed to! I use a cloth to dip into the bucket and proceed to wipe the floors. I must point out that to protect the skin on my hands I tend to wear gloves whilst doing this. The liquid does an excellent job of removing grime and dirt that may have accumulated on the floor without needing to put in too much elbow grease. I was particularly impressed when I used this after a particularly muddy gardening session as it removed all the dirt and mud with ease. Once wiped over my floors are left looking really clean and sparkling. As an added bonus the smell of camomile is quite sweet and lovely and lingers for a few hours after cleaning leaving my flat smelling really fresh. I also find this is great at masking odours. For example I tend to cook a lot of curries and whilst they do taste great they make my flat smell of onions and spices. I usually give the floor a wipe down after cooking and the smell of camomile overpowers the cooking smells leaving my flat smelling fresh and clean. Overall I am really quite impressed with this product. It cleans well, smells lovely and is reasonably priced. I can't really ask for any more. Highly recommended.
