Daisy Bathroom Cleaner
Advantages: Cheap but more importantly works
Disadvantages: Only available in Tesco
I'm not really one for reviewing cleaning products, after all even though I love the results, I hate the actual process of cleaning. However, I'm so impressed with the Daisy Bathroom Cleaner Spray that I just had to share what a find it is. The first thing I love about this spray is the price, I paid a ridiculously low 47p for a 500ml trigger action spray bottle of this budget cleaner. Ok, the bottle itself doesn't look in the least bit fancy, seeing as it's a plain white with a couple of stickers on, but it doesn't scream Tesco Value either.
Using the spray is as simple as any other trigger action spray cleaner, turn the nozzle to ON, and spray from a distance of 15 to 30cm, before wiping with a cloth. For tougher stains you can leave it to work it's magic for a couple of minutes before wiping. These instructions are clearly printed on the back of the bottle, so if you should forget how to use it you can easily refer to them. The instructions also state that this can be used on most hard surfaces, meaning the same spray can be used throughout the whole of the bathroom.
Even having problems with my joints I have no trouble turning the spray on or operating the trigger. I do find that the spray is a little weak, but still have no trouble coating the surfaces in my bathroom with a few squirts. Scent-wise the cleaner smells like any other bathroom cleaner, fresh and slightly bleachy, it's not that strong a scent though and certainly not offensive. As the spray comes into contact with surfaces it does foam slightly, nowhere nearly as much as some more expensive cleaners, but there is foam.
When I first bought this, I was a little sceptical that it would do as good a job of cleaning as other more expensive brands, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the results. The first place I used this was the basin, which had been dyed a rather strange colour by Henna, I'd previously tried using flash to remove these stains, to no avail. So I really was giving this spray the hardest possible test and so wasn't really expecting the results I got. Because the basin was stained I liberally sprayed the cleaner over the whole of it, including the taps and tiles behind the taps and then waited a couple of minutes before I started rinsing. Although I could have used a scrubby sponge, I really wanted to see how this would work without scrubbing and so used a cloth and hot water to rinse.
The results were fantastic, as I wiped a shiny white basin was revealed with the absolute minimum of effort, the taps sparkled and the tiles came clean. I'm not kidding when I say that in less than five minutes the basin went from having a henna stained green tinge to being a spotless white and that was without the aid of scrubbing. Toothpaste and soap scum surrendered in the face of the thin white foam and the only thing that put up any resistance was the limescale on the bottom of the taps (which I later removed with vinegar).
After having found cleaning the sink a breeze I set Daisy to work on the rest of the bathroom with the results being a shiny white bath and toilet with glistening taps. I even used Daisy on the window frames (uPVC) and she made light work of the yucky black mould that was just starting to form. The final results, a spotlessly clean bathroom that smelt fresh, if a little bleachy (which doesn't bother me, because I think that bleach smell helps me feel that a room is clean). If I was going to compare this cleaner with other more expensive brands, I would say it's at least as good as Flash Bathroom Cleaner, but only quarter of the price. As with all chemical cleaners there is a chance that Daisy could cause my sensitive skin to come out in a rash, but so far so good and I've not had a reaction, although I do always wash my hands after using her.
I'm really glad that I gave Daisy a chance, she's the best value bathroom cleaner I have ever used and makes light work of soapy stains, toothpaste and all the other yucky marks you get in the smallest room. My only real complaint is that being a budget brand exclusive to Tesco, that's the only place I can buy her. My recommendation, forget expensive bathroom cleaners and give Daisy a try, she's just as good and costs a lot less, with a 500ml bottle costing only 47p and lasting for ages. So Daisy Bathroom Spray cleaner gets an almighty five stars out of five from me and is so good that I've even persuaded a real snob to make the change.
Summary: Brilliant value bathroom cleaner
