When I'm choosing my cleaning products I like to stick to well known brands such as Mr Muscle, Flash, Dettol etc although I have been known to try out the supermarkets own branded products now and again only to be left with a disappointed feeling as the products are useless compared to the bigger branded competitors. Dettol 4in1 is a multi surface cleaner which I have been using for a few weeks now and I am extremely pleased with the results from it. What I really like most about Dettol 4in1 is the fact that it is an all round multi purpose cleaner which not only cleans your surfaces but it also kills harmful bacteria and germs as well. I really like Dettol products because they not only smell nice and hygienic but they also kill germs around the home and are extremely reasonably priced. Quite a lot of cleaning products which I have bought in the past only clean your surfaces and leave them smelling nice, but with Dettol 4in1 you are getting the added benefit of it killing 99% of harmful bacteria and germs on your household surfaces.

I purchased a 1litre bottle of Dettol 4in1 from Tesco's and it cost £1.99 which is a fairly reasonable price, even although it is a little more expensive if you compare it to Flash all Purpose Cleaner which costs £1.49 per litre. I'm not too sure if you can purchase Dettol 4in1 in smaller sized bottles, however I did notice that there are two different fragrances options to choose from which are Green Apple and Atlantic Fresh, I bought the Atlantic fresh one first and liked it and went back into Tesco a few days later and bought the Green Apple one as well. As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the bottle of Dettol 4in1 is supplied in a chunky see through plastic bottle which has a handle on the side of it which makes it much easier to hold and measure out the desired amount of the liquid. As I have said in lots of reviews which I have written I really like products which are supplied in see through containers because you can easily see how much of the product you are using and how much is remaining inside the bottle. I find this particle useful compared to non see through packaging as I can just glance in the cleaning cupboard and easily tell which products I need to buy more of instead of pulling out all of the bottles and shaking them to judge how much is remaining inside of them. On the top of the Dettol 4in1 bottle there is a blue screw on off lid which also serves the purpose of a measuring cap which when filled measures out 30ml of the Dettol4in1 liquid. On the back of the bottle there is a label which tells you a little bit about the product, usage instructions and health and safety advice.

On average a 1litre bottle of Dettol 4in1 lasted mo for about a week, which is relatively good compared to Flash All Purpose as I could easily polish off two litres in a week; and its not because my house is dirty. Anyone whom has laminated flooring in the home will know that it can get quite dirty in a short space of time. I find the only way to keep the flooring looking clean at all times is to brush and mop it several times per day as I hate seeing little specs of dust/dirt, crumbs and pet hair on it. So with young children and two cats and two dogs in the house I am constantly brushing and mopping the flooring; so I need a good floor cleaner which will lift the dirt and leave the flooring looking shiny and not a cleaner which leaves a residue after I have washed it. This is where Dettol 4in1 comes in extremely handy as all I need to do is add two 30ml capfuls to 5litres of hot water and mop away.

As I have stated previously in this review it is recommended that you use 2 capfuls of Dettol 4in1 to 5 litres of water. One of the main things which I noticed about this product when I added it to the water was the fact that the water changed to a cloudy blue colour (changes to cloudy green if you use Green Apple) and there was some white foam and some bubbles on the surface of the water. The fragrance from the product was also quite strong, but not too string in a perfumed sort of way., it had more of a clean hygienic aroma which just had a slightly sweet undertone. When I am mopping the floors with Dettol 4in1 it doesn't leave a bubbly lather on the floor nor does it spread the dirt around, it lifts the dirt with ease and it is particularly good at lifting sticky and greasy marks off of the flooring. Once I have finished mopping the flooring and it has dried completely the floor looks really shiny as if it has just been polished and there are no streaky markings or residue on it. The fresh aroma from Dettol 4in1 also lingers in the rooms I have used it in and the aroma seems to linger for quite sometime; approximately 90 minutes or so. The real evidence of Dettol 4in1 working properly and lifting the dirt of the floor is the colour of the water after I have mopped. The water is still a cloudy blue colour, although it seems to look a lot more cloudier and darker with specs of dirt through it, which is real hard evidence that the product is in fact working and cleaning properly instead of pushing the dirt around.

As well as being a brilliant floor cleaner Dettol 4in1 can also be used to clean your bathroom suite and fixtures. Normally I prefer a bleach based product for cleaning the bathroom but as Dettol 4in1 has more of a clean hygienic aroma compared to a highly perfumed one I actually like using it in the bathroom. There are two different ways you can use the product in the bathroom the first option is to use it neat on a cloth and clean the surfaces then rinse it off. I only use it neat on the dirty areas where shampoo has been spilled or there are soap marks etc. However using it neat does leave the bathroom suite clean and shiny just like the flooring however I get the feeling that you do use too much of it if you are cleaning the whole bathroom with it neat. I prefer to dilute two 30ml capfuls of it in a trigger action bottle filled with cold water as you are using less of the Dettol4in1 liquid therefore it will last you longer. You don't have to go out and buy a trigger spray bottle, an old Mr Muscle Kitchen Cleaner or similar style bottle will do just fine if you rinse it out thoroughly before adding the Dettol and water to it and remember to label it. Once you have your diluted solution just spray your bath sink etc with it and leave it on for a few minutes before wiping and rinsing it off to have a shiny looking clean bathroom.

Dettol 4in1 can be used on a multitude of different surfaces in and around the home such as kitchen worktops, cookers, fridges, pet bowls, cat litter trays, window ledges, chopping boards, baby high chairs, walker pens etc. although you do need to make sure that you rinse the product off with a clean damp cloth after using Dettol 4in1 so as you remove all traces of the product. I really like using a dilute solution of Dettol 4in1 on the areas where food has been eaten or prepared as it removes nearly all types of bacteria and germs which can occur on such surfaces such as E-coli, Salmonella etc. Using it on cat litter trays and pet sleeping areas is also a great use for this product as pets carry germs and bacteria which can be harmful to humans so by using Dettol 4in1 I have peace of mind that my home is a germ and bacteria free zone.

I think that Dettol 4in1 Multi Action All Purpose cleaner is an excellent product because it is reasonably priced, can be used on lots of different surfaces in and around the home, and it is available to purchase in two different fragrances. Atlantic Fresh and Green Apple. At £1.99 per 1 litre bottle you cant really go wrong with this product because you can use it on virtually everything and you can have peace of mind that it not only cleans the surfaces used on bit it will also kill 99% of all bacteria and germs. If you have really young children then you could use a diluted solution of Dettol 4in1 to clean and remove bacteria and germs from their plastic toys.

Dettol 4in1 Multi Action All Purpose cleaner can be bought from Tesco at the price of £1.99 for a 1litre bottle, you should also be able to purchase it is other supermarkets such as Asda, Morrison's Wilkinson's etc although the price may differ depending on where you purchase it from.
