“ Brand: Dettol / Type: Bathroom & Toilet Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
When I was little one of the things I can remember was dettol, the one where if you had a graze your mam would use it to clean it and god would it sting, nowadays dettol have a whole range for the home. You can now get, cleaning sprays, cleaning wipes, disinfectant, mould and mildew remover and disinfectant spray and that is just for cleaning the house. Dettol anti bacterial 4 in 1 multi action cleaner is available in pink grapefruit, cotton breeze and green apple and is available in most supermarkets for around £2.25 for 500ml. The 4 points for cleaning are that it cuts through kitchen grease, kills 99.9% of bacteria, removes bathroom dirt and leaves a fresh fragrance. The product comes in a green coloured plastic bottle with a white and red trigger top, it is claimed that this product kills 99.9% of bacteria including E coli and influenza and cuts grease and soap scum. The product is also said to leave a visible shine and leave a fresh fragrance, it is suitable for use on surfaces, cooker hob, sink, draining boards, bins, floors, shower screens, bath and taps and toilet seats so basically the whole kitchen and bathroom except marble, wood and painted surfaces. To use the product simply hold it 20 - 25cm from surface and spray, you may need to leave the spray on for 5 minutes if doing a deep clean rather than a quick wipe over. There are a couple of warnings on the product such as keep out of reach of children, if in contact with eyes rinse out with water and seek medical attention and do not mix with bleach or other household cleaners. I personally love this product, it smells really fruity and really does smell like apples, I would have to say I would like it if the smell lasted longer but then I would probably say that about the majority of cleaning products. I use this product in kitchen bathroom and on the baby equipment such as highchair and playpen and it gives me peace of mind that it is clean enough for my daughter. I would say that it leaves the bathroom clean and it does shine although I don't think it really leaves a shine on the floors or benches. This is a very good all round cleaner and I would recommend it.
I bought this multi-action trigger spray cleaner as part of Asda's terrific Big Clean offer* (see below). Even though I got this product at a snip I would not hesitate buying it again at the full recommended retail price. I did have some reservations about Dettol products, namely that they impart that unbecoming smell of a seventies hospital. However, the pink grapefruit essence in this product largely neutralises any trace of Eau De General Hospital. There is admittedly the faintest whiff of antiseptic, but this reassures rather than repulses. Claims ******* Cuts through kitchen grease Removes bathroom dirt and soap scum Kills 99.9% of bacteria, such as E.coli and Influenza virus (H1N1) Leaves a visible shine Leaves a fresh fragrance Suitable for ********** Kitchen surfaces Cooker hob Sink Draining board Bins Floors Shower Screens Baths and Taps Toilet seats Not suitable for ************ Porous surfaces such as marble Wood Painted surfaces Enamel/metal surfaces Gold plated fittings Do not allow prolonged soaking on plastic Usage ***** The spray is fitted with a revolving nozzle, which locks and unlocks through 180'°. You need to keep the bottle upright and spray 20-25cm away from the intended surface. It is then recommended that you leave for up to 5 minutes depending on the severity of the task in hand, wipe and then rinse. For a deep shine it is then advised that you then rub over the area with a dry cloth/towel. Rinsing is particularly important on food contact surfaces. If you are unsure about a surface it is recommended that you test for 5 minutes on an inconspicuous area first. Performance ********** Its claim to cut through grease and soap scum certainly holds up. I have tried it on kitchen surfaces, sinks, bath, tiles and toilet to equal effect. Dispensation on to the surface revealed a satisfying froth of bubbles. I found it more effective to lightly squeeze or 'feather' the trigger for a more efficient and even distribution as pressing too hard causes wastage and isolated puddles. Even when I left the cleaner for a couple of minutes the remnants of oil, fat and other food were made scarce with a cursory wipeover. After rinsing I duly buffed over the area with a dry towel to reveal a gleaming sheen, as promised. This was evident on a variety of surfaces, including our habitiually shine-shy kitchen worktop. It even removed all traces of the ubiquitous turmeric from the draining board - possibly the stain of stains. Packaging ******** The 500ml bottle is nicely designed with curves in all the right places for the trigger-happy. There are two finger-friendly recesses beneath the nozzle, which facilitate simultaneous support and discharge of the product. I have quite long fingers and find it easy to cradle my ring and middle fingers into the aforementioned grooves. However, those with smaller digits may find it easier to lend extra reach to their index/trigger finger by resting their little and ring fingers in the recesses. The bottle is clearly labelled, and includes all expected information. Ethics ***** The PET symbol indicates that thepackaging is recyclable by most local authorities. The label also displays two ethically-led websites www.ourhome-ourplanet.com and www.sustainable-cleaning.com It also advocates the use of a re-usable cleaning cloth as opposed to paper towels, with the reassurance that this will not compromise the bacteria killing potency of the product. Furthermore, the label includes the Green Dot, demonstrating the manufacturer's wider commitment to recyclable packaging. Caution ******* This cleaner needs to be kept out of the reach of children. Contact with eyes should be remedied by immediate rinsing with plenty of water and medical advice sought. Do not mix with bleach or any other product. Contains ******* <5% Nonionic surfactants, anionic surfactants, disinfectant, perfume, and limonene. I have recently moved in with my boyfriend, he has been living in the flat for 11 years and although he is generally quite clean, he hoards - and in the whole time he's been living there hasn't visited the tip once, so there was all sorts in the cupboards - old computers, TVs, random bits of wood and carpet. We hired a van to clear everything and two transit van loads later we were left with a lot of space... and a lot of dust. My boyfriend had bought this product from the local discount store - it was £1.50 for a 500ml bottle. It comes in an apple green container; it has the Dettol logo on the front and it says that it's a 4 in 1 cleaner. I have also seen this product available in Asda and Tesco's, so I presume that it's pretty widely available. On the bottle it claims that it's an anti bacterial multi-action cleaner that kills 99.9% of bacteria. Now I'm normally dubious about such claims, but I have got to say, this product is one of the best cleaning products I have ever tried... I found that a few squirts of this product worked on the toughest stains. I must admit, I think I went a bit overboard with this. Once I saw it was lifted a tough stain in the kitchen with very little effort I decided to use it all over the place - on skirting boards, in the kitchen, in the cupboards, in the bathroom. My boyfriend and I literally scrubbed the place from top to bottom and none of the other products we'd bought worked as well as this. It lifted all sorts of stains really easily and left the place smelling of fresh apples. I highly recommend this product - especially for mammoth spring cleans! You can pick it up at a great price and it truly does what it says on the bottle. I will certainly be buying it again. Highly recommended! Five stars!
I bought this first when my Baby was young as I was useing the dettol surface cleaner and found though it kills germs it didn't clean easiliy and though it was a bit expensive it was surprised at how well it cleaned and it smells lovely. I think with little ones you need to use dettol to make sure your kitchen, High chairs, change mats and other surfaces are germ free and this all in one apple is great at even removing stains. The bottle is a trigger and very easy to use, It has a lovely apple fragrance. I've used it all over my house and it cleans very well but it does leave smears on anything shiny unless you dry it off perfectly but for all its benefits and the fact it kills 99% of germs I think it is worth the little bit of trouble. I would buy again even though it is a bit expensive as it have more benefits than alot of the other similer products
I first bought Dettol 4 in 1 cleaner a couple of years ago as it was on special offer and had 50% extra free, which i always like to see.I've still got that first bottle, not because I'm slovenly but as I've found it cheaper to buy the untriggered bottle and do my own top ups. The apple fragrance was quite pleasant and remained for an adequate period of time, but i was most impressed with the ease of use of this product, all i do is spray it everywhere then leave for a couple of minutes to do it's thing, then it's just a case of using a wet cloth to wipe off the residue. And there you have it, nice shiny porcelain and a nice fresh smell. I have noticed a problem with this product. It does dissolve some plastics, most notably for me it was the plastic pins that held my toilet seat together, which led to a premature replacement.(twice) My own fault as i hadn't connected the cleaner to my detached seat. I no longer use this product on my toilet seat, but continue to use on my sinks, bath and tiles and I'm happy with the results.
I bought this as it was on offer in my local Semi Chem store for only £1.29, I'd wanted to try it before but in my local supermarket it was over £2, so seeing it on offer I thought I'd give it a go. The product is available in a few varieties, but the one I bought is the Green Apple fragrance. The bottle is a trigger variety and is really easy to use, the tube goes all the way to the bottom of the bottle (unlike some) so you can use all the product and not have any 'dreggs' that have to be thrown out as you cant get it out the bottle (which is a pet hate of mine). It has a lovely fresh fragrance which lingers for a while after use. I've only used it in the kitchen but it is suitable for use in bathrooms also. I like that fact that it states that it kills 99.9% of bacteria as my regular kitchen cleaner contains bleach so I wanted something with germ kill too. As for the effectiveness of the product - good, I've used it to clean the cooker hob which is stainless steel, it does a good job, cuts through spills that have baked on during cooking with minimal elbow grease, I've also used it inside my fridge and it works fine there too. In fact, it cleans all kitchen surfaces quite easily, it leaves no tell tale marks either. Would I buy it again? Only when it's on offer as the £1.29 price is good, it last for quite a while (depending on usage), has a nice clean fresh fragrance and does the job with germ kill thrown in.
My flatmate bought this product as he said it was on special offer and he always used this at his last place. I have never tried this before but had seen it advertised and thought I would give it a try. I use this as a kitchen cleaner and use it mainly to wipe down worktop surfaces and wipe over kitchen cupboards. The product comes in a green 500ml bottle and is apple scented. It has a handy spray which makes it easier to direct the product onto the surfaces. The product was easy to use and cleaned up grease and general dirt well. It left a pleasant apple scent which lasted a while after cleaning. I didn't find there was any residue left after cleaning and there was no need to wipe over again with a damp cloth. I have been using this for a couple of months now and would not say I have noticed a huge amount of difference to the product I was using before. It cleans which is the main thing and the apple scent is pleasant but can be quite strong at times depending on how much I have used. I can't really see if it kills 99.9% of bacteria and can't help feeling it was a bit of a let down in a way as it did the same thing my last cleaner did and there wasn't any real improvement on that. Whilst this is a nice product to have in the kitchen in my opinion it didn't offer anything extra on my last cleaner.
You may find from some of my reviews, I am either shopping at one supermarket or other, or cleaning up after my two toddlers!! Anyone with kids will know they generate sooooo much cleaning, mine are the worst....messy eaters and thow thing!!! Where is the strict mother factor???? I have had a minor 'phase' in that i have been buying cleaning wipes of late as I am sick and tired of cleaning up after the kids.....but I got a load on special at Tesco, half price and an extra 50% included! I loved the Grapefruit version. They gave the most amazing fragrance around the place! So, at Tesco Dettol 'All in one' multi action cleaner was buy 2 for £2.00, a steal I think. It was the grapefruit fragrance, so i was delighted to say the least. To give you an insight into my norm cleaning loves, I am a fan of Cif Ocean active fizz spray as a general cleanier, smells lovely and does an amazing job. Or for the kids table and the high chairs, I use Ecover or Method natural cleaner. Also, I have matt white work tops with a stainless steel trim. So, first time I used it was to clean the kitchen table after the kids pasta and tomato lunch. i have an oil cloth table cloth, and it worked a treat. One wipe with a Plenty cloth and it was done. One thing of note, is that the cloth was totally red!!! It was bright bright red! The colour of the dettol. The packs of wipes leave an amazing smell all round the house and no residue or stickyness. This spray however left a real sticky feel to the oil cloth table cloth. It needed to be wiped over again with a wet cloth. Not at all like the equiv wipe. Also, it didn't leave the lovely grapefruit smell around the room. My main gripe about this product, is that the red dye it contains is very dominant. It needs re-wiping after it has been sprayed and cleaned over. It leaves massive red streaks all over my white work tops! Its almost like when I spill But does this mean something is nice and clean? Does a residue leave things clean?? No!!!!
I first used this cleaner at work. We had shiney surfaces that customers had a habbit of writing on and polish wouldn't take it off. I was advised by a friend to invest in this and that it worked wonders. That it did it took off the pen marks without any effort and left a lovely fresh smell. I much prefer the smell of the green apple one. Dettol has always been a big name of anti bacterial cleaner and having children this is a big part of life to keep them safe. It kills 99.9% of bacteria even e-coli and the best thing about this cleaner is that it can be used almost everywhere, on worksurfaces, bathrooms, tv units even the tv and the kitchen sink. This is an all in one cleaner that cuts grease that may be left on the surfaces from pots and pans, it removes the soap marks from around the bath with very little effort. It leaves the sinks and baths with a shine and leaves the whole house smelling lovely for the whole day. This is not able to be used on painted surfaces or marble surfaces, wooden surfaces or anything gold plated if you have an enammeld bath you can not use this for the soap scum marks becuase it will strip it, this is stated on the back of the packaging which is easy to understand and see clearly. The directions of use are also clearly stated on the back of the pack Keep bottle upright and spray between 20 - 25cm away from the area. Leave the spray on for upto 10 mins before wiping clean and rinsing the area. It also states on the directions to test it on a unconspicuious area before using all over incase it damages the surfaces. I have not found this to have damaged anything of mine yet. I buy this for £1.49 a bottle from wilkinsons for a 500ml bottle and will use a bottle of this a week due to cleaning all my bathroom and kitchen surfaces everyday. I love this product because it has a fresh smell that is long lasting, it also gives me the security of knowing my children are safe from bacteria. It does hold dangerous chemicals but if the surfaces are rinsed after using it will not hurt the children if they touch the surfaces and these should always be kept out of reach of children when not in use. This is not an expensive product in my opinion and well worth using.
Dettol Multi-Action 4in1 is an excellent product as not only can it be used for general use around the house killing bacteria but this one is especially for kitchens and bathrooms too. It cuts through grime and dirt and it also cuts through grease leaving all your rooms clean and sparkling. This product rids of 99.9% of bacteria such as E. Coli, which is very useful considering the recent outbreak of E.Coli infecting 12 children who are in hospital (4 critically ill) after visiting a farm in surrey. The product comes in a clear plastic bottle in two varieties: Apple Pink Grapefruit I personally use the Pink Grapefruit variety as it's unique and has a very pleasant smell. The only thing about the sprays is that they are coloured green and red respectively and this colour will actually turn surfaces different colours until you rub it all in. You can see after wiping with a paper towel for example that the paper towel has gone green or red. The spray can be used to cut through dirt, grime, grease and more. It can also be used to generally clean things such as keyboards, light switches and other items, which get enormous amounts of dirt on them. However, you are warned NOT to use this spray on certain surfaces such as marble, stone and certain metals including copper and brass as it can damage them through reactions. It's an excellent cleaner and you can buy the 500ml spray for just £2.23 or even get two for £3.00 at Tesco currently. It's an excellent spray and has a variety of uses. It does a very good job and smells pleasant, leaving surfaces clean and shiny. Thanks for reading, Dan ©
Due to an unfortunate accident about 5 years ago I was left with a severed tear duct in my left eye. Yes to all those who will ask, I can only cry out of my right eye much to the amusement of my partner. This has left me prone to eye infections. At the time the Doctor gave me advice on how to prevent such infections with one of these being, make sure everything I touch is clean. This unfortunate advice left me with obsessive compulsive disorder and I was very concious about cleaning. I have tried numerous kitchen and bathroom cleaners over the years and seem to find that as soon as I like one it is always withdrawn or becomes hard to find. Browsing my local Iceland one quiet sunday afternoon I came across Dettol anti bacterial multi action cleaner for £1.50 for a 500ml bottle. I have previously used the clear dettol and have always been very impressed with the cleanliness of the product but this paticular one seemed different. It comes in cool oval shaped bottle with a neck that just fits into the palm of your hand and has the usual spray top with the twist on, off nosle. The liquid however is green as it is apple fragranced. The bottle states Dettol kills 99.9% of Bacteria which seems great to me which the all in one cleaner cuts through grease to give power to your clean, removes soap scum and limescale leaving a visable shine. Actually using it would be the ultimate test though. So I started my usual clean the next morning and was not at all surprised when the item proved to be brilliant. The smell was fresh, clean and really nice, making everything smell actually clean. Even after a day or two you can still smell the fragrance on the surface. As I started scrubbing the kitchen tiles with the cloth it was so easy to remove the stubborn grease from behind the cooker , which usually took a lot of elbow grease to get away. And as for the shine, it really does leave that added extra sparkle to the work tops and sink. As the item is multi action and made the kitchen cleaning so easy I thought why not give it a go on the two bathrooms aswell. The fragrance was so nice and fresh I couldn't let it go to waste on just my kitchen. Of course I did not read the back of the bottle first and set about cleaning. The shine on the shower, shower screen, bath and toilet were amazing and even my partner commented on how nice the smell was. Once reading the back (I have to admit it was as I was writing this review) I noticed that you are supposed to avoid Enamel, prolonged soaking on Plastic and Natural wood surfaces and I was abit worried. But I have never found any burnt, melted or peeled bit so I will continue using it on the bathroom or my table (i just ran to make sure). As people have commented on the lovely smell in my house and are surprised when I state it is my kitchen cleaner I will continue using the cleaner. Not only does it smell delicous the cleaning is amazing.
One of the reasons that led me to buy the Dettol Multi-Action 4in1 Trigger, is the brand name Dettol. I have always seen the brand as an effective solution to keep cuts and grazes clean. When I clean anything from cupboards to household items, I like to use a cleaner that I feel will keep them clean and fresh. Another thing that led me to purchase this product is the handy trigger style spray which makes it easy to operate the spray and use a sponge or cloth to wipe down anything. The spray itself also has a wide range of coverage, meaning that it is dispersed equally. There is also a twist lock mechanism on the nozzle of the spray which helps to prevent the spray from being accidently triggered when not in use. The content is great for cleaning oily surfaces, especially after a fry up and the great thing is it does not leave a heavy and unwelcoming industrial smell after being used. To a certain degree it also leaves a noticeable shine that keeps your objects looking new and clean. Although this is not its primary purpose I had used it to clean mould on my bedroom wall which occurs quite regularly because it is rather small and the room is filled with plenty of cupboards and stuff that makes air ventilation not great, hence causing the growth of mould. To a certain degree I feel that the wall is clean in my mind because of the effective cleaning power, leaving me with a peace of mind, not having to worry about the bacteria, etc. The size of the 500ml bottle is also quite decent if you plan to use it occasionally, since one spray would be almost enough to deal with most stains or dirt. Furthermore, you can get all this cleaning power for less than 3 pounds normally, there are also deals that sell multipacks or buy one get one free deals.
DETTOL ALL IN ONE MULTI ACTION GREEN APPLE FRAGRANCE I am quite fond of these trigger spray cleaners mainly because they seem to do the job effectively and are simple to use. The product I am reviewing is the Green Apple but it is also available in Pink Grapefruit, and Atlantic Fresh. PRODUCT AND PACKAGING... The cleaner comes in a 500ml plastic bottle with a trigger action spray and the product looks green because the bottle is green in keeping I suppose with the apple theme. All of the instructions and information about the product is on the back of the bottle. The cleaner itself when sprayed over surfaces comes out clear and in a steady spray- no sudden rushes of the product. It does smell a bit like apples and has a definite clean and fresh smell which I rather like. WHAT IT DOES... This makes a number of cleaning promises * "powers" through kitchen grease (I like that) * Tough on bathroom soap scum and limescale * Leaves a visible shine * Kills 99.9% of bacteria * Leaves a fresh fragrance All good stuff and excellent if what it claims is true. SO, HOW DO I USE IT? The first thing to do is to turn the nozzle onto "on", which is done by turning the red cap on the trigger. Keep the bottle upright and spray from about 20cm. Leave to work for up to 10 minutes and wipe clean. WHERE CAN I USE IT? Kitchens and bathrooms but not on marble, stone, eating utensils enamel, brass and copper. WARNINGS... The usual warnings come with this product such as: * Keep out of the reach of children * Avoid contact with eyes * Do not swallow. OTHER INFORMATION... For anyone wanting to know about this and other products, the website, www.dettol.co.uk has lots of information Available in supermarkets, this cost me around the £2 mark so good value cleaner. VERDICT... Dettol is a make a tend to trust not least because i associate it with the dettol liquid, so it's easy to convince me that this will guard against germs; I don't know if this fact is true because I can't see them, so i take it as written. The product itself is easy to use, and if left to on surfaces, when i wipe it away, it does remove grime and food stains. It is also effective as a "normal" spray cleaner, so I often just spray and wipe without leaving it. The cleaner smells nice and fresh and clean and since it can be used in kitchens and bathrooms means I don't have to have lots of products- this does nicely for both. A recommended product. Thanks for reading. Daniela x
The Dettol Multi-Action 4 in 1 is an anti-bacterial liquid to be used in the kitchen and bathroom, and it comes in a spray bottle. According to the label, it is a powerful cleaner that cuts through grease and soap scum, killing 99.9% of bacteria, including E.coli., all the while leaving a pleasant fragrance. I bought this product for two reason: 1) It is made by Dettol, a brand of household cleaning products that I know and trust. 2) The fragrances: Pink Grapefruit and Green Apple. I think, when it comes to detergents with strong chemicals, it is important that they have a nice, pleasant scent, to prevent the detergent from stinking up the house. I first tried the Green Apple one. It caught my eye amongst all the other detergents: "Dettol"! "Kills 99.9% of bacteria"! "Green Apple"! - I just grabbed one and moved on. When I first used it, I started spraying around and wiping the liquid right after I had sprayed, and the bottle was just so heavy my arm started to ache. I thought: "this is so impractical!". I took a closer look at the bottle and saw that it was a 750ml bottle (it was a special "50% extra free" bottle - normally it is 500ml). Then I noticed that I had been using it wrong: one is supposed to spray the liquid onto the sufaces to be cleaned, leave to work for 5 minutes, then wipe, then rinse. So I sprayed, waited, then tried to wipe. It had dried almost completely; wiping the dried product didn't really remove the residue so I just tried to rinse everything off. Also, the "trigger" was so extremely hard to press. My hand slipped several times and I hurt myself on the hard plastic. I ended up unscrewing the nozzle and just pouring the liquid, which, as you probably can imagine, made a mess and was a waste. At least the Green Apple scent was all right. For some reason, about a year after that experience, I bought the Pink Grapefruit Multi-Action 4 in 1. It was the same story, only this time even the scent was too strong. I wish I could give this a higher rating, as it probably is a good anti-bacterial, but I won't be buying it again, simply because I found the spray trigger so very hard to work with.
- Price and Packaging - This is currently £2.24 at Tesco, however always on the search for a bargain I got this whilst on offer at Morrisons with a great 50% off! It is in a transparent, green coloured 500ml bottle. It is dispensed from a nozzle at the top of the bottle, released with a spray gun type trigger. The nozzle also has an on and off option which is great for those of you who want to make it more secure against little hands! - What is this & What does it promise? - ~ Powers through kitchen grease. ~ Tough on bathroom soap scum and limescale. ~ Leaves a visible shine. ~ Kills 99.9% of bacteria such as E-coli. ~ Leaves a fresh fragrance. - Does it live up to these claims? - The thing I like most about this cleaning product is the smell. It's claim of leaving a fresh fragrance is absolutely true. The fragrance lasts for some time after using it and leaves the room smelling incredibly clean and fresh. As far as using the words 'powers' and 'tough' on the packaging, I have to disagree to a certain extent. In my humble experience and believe me I have had experience of cleaning, this is a good standard cleaner for a gentle wipe down of benches etc. It really doesn't 'power' through thick grease or remove soap scum without quite a considerable amount of rubbing. As for it killing bacteria, I can't see the little blighters so have to trust them on this claim! - Overall - A great smelling product for wiping down benches that aren't thick with grease or grime! Not recommended for those of you who are looking for help in the removal of heavily soiled benches or baths.
Available in Green Apple and Pink Grapefruit, 500ml trigger / Cuts through kitchen grease & removes bathroom dirt.
