“ Brand: Dettol / Type: All Purpose Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I am a bit of a clean freak, and like to know that every surface in our house is very clean, which is sometimes easier said than done living with a dog, two cats and my husband! Having never tried any Dettol products before, I thought that now we had our own house it was the perfect time to try them out. I saw this multi-action cleaner on offer in a warehouse not long after moving into our house over 2 years ago and thought I would give it a go, especially because of it's claim to kill 99.9% of bacteria.
I kept seeing this product on offer in my local discount warehouse, but the last time I bought any was months ago now and so I can't remember exactly how much I paid. I know I kept getting them in packs of about 6 bottles, and I think it worked out at roughly £1 per bottle, which is a pretty good deal for a Dettol product I think. I've looked at how much Tesco sell them for, and for the same size as mine it's a hefty £2.60, which is a price I don't think I would pay.
This cleaner comes in a see-through bottle that is green, to match the apple scent, which I really like because it means I can see how much of the product is left. It has a white top with a red handle for the spray trigger. The cleaner comes in a 500ml bottle, and it has two grooves at the top of the bottle, so that you can hold it comfortably while spraying. The labels state that the cleaner kills 99.9% of bacteria such as E.coli and influenza virus, leaves a visible shine and contains 3 times the cleaning power in order to remove kitchen grease, burnt on food and bathroom dirt.
I only use this cleaner in the kitchen, as I have other cleaning products that I use in the other rooms, including the bathroom. I have found it comfortable to hold, easy to spray and it does a good job of getting rid of dirt from my kitchen worktops and cupboards. I'm not sure how effectively it would remove very stubborn dirt and grease, as I tend to use other products for inside my oven and the areas that gather grease and oil around my cooker hob. One of the best things about this cleaner for me has to be it's apple scent; I think it's a really nice scent and quite strong too, and so I like using this product just before any guests come over so that the kitchen smells lovely and clean. I have to say, it does leave my worktops looking rather shiny and very clean once I've used it, and so I think their claim that it leaves a visible shine is true.
I really like this product; I like that it claims to kill most bacteria, that it leaves my worktops looking shiny, and that it has a lovely scent that lingers. I do, however, feel that I have to remove one star due to it's price. I've been lucky in being able to purchase it for a very good price, but because we have to really watch how much money we are spending, I couldn't justify buying it at full price at the moment, especially when you can get other multi-action cleaners for £1 or less, albeit without the apple scent. I highly recommend this product and may buy it again if it's on offer, but for now I use it sparingly!
Dettol multi surface is another of these products which I have picked up for no more expert a reason than being on offer - but this time you have the added security of the dettol branding - I definitely believe in the power of "the sword", and the reliability and reputation of the brand carries weight with me.
This comes in a standard trigger bottle, which is a very rounded shape, quite flat; the bottle is a rich green transparent plastic. In the bottle is 500ml.
The label on the bottle is poorly designed in my opinion - the branding is "green apples" - hence the green apples on the label - but this is lost against the green hue of the bottle. Bearing in mind that a huge part of the buying process was centred around the Dettol brand, the "Kills 99.9% Bacteria" could also have been more prominently featured. This is on the front of the bottle, but also "lost" on the label. There is in fact a confused message, this will definitely be worked on in the future, I think.
The messages are: 3x cleaning power, Anti Bacterial, Multi Action, Kills 99.9% Bacteria, Complete Clean, Cuts Grease and Soap scum and Green Apple. None of these factors are given any prominence - they need to decide what the main USP of the product is going to be, I feel. (I sound like I've watched too much of The Apprentice!!) Sadly, even the Dettol sword gets a little lost with it's green background against this bottle.
When it comes to using the product there is a recurring theme - the green apple tag... Again, to me, a bit lost. Today I have made a conscious effort to smell the apples and I must agree, they are there - but they are masked by the over-riding "cleaning material" smell, and not an obvious scent in any way. That said, the fragrance that it does have is strong, and effective - it leaves its scent behind and it lingers - and it's a very clean - if a bit confused - smell.
I can't say that this spray gives any greater cleaning results than any other products I own - when I'm using it, I'm far more conscious of it's anti-bacterial properties than it's cleaning properties.
I like this spray but unless I see it on a too-good-to-miss offer again, I won't be re-purchasing... I prefer to clean with my cleaners and anti-bac with my anti-bacterial sprays according to the situation. This all in one approach doesn't really do it for me.
Not suitable for porous surfaces, do not allow to soak on plastic, for food contact rinse after use. Keep out of reach of children. Contains: <5% Nonionic surfactants, Antionic Sufactants, Disinfectant, Perfume, Contains Hexyl Cinnamal.
Does it clean Up?
Yes it cleans up, does it brush up?... sorry off at a tangent there! It does clean surfaces and from the scent and appearance, you can tell it's done it's job. That, together with the Dettol branding, there's no doubt that you are getting a clean kitchen when you use this product. Overall, though, I can only give it 3 stars because I don't feel it's outstanding in any way and for me, the branding is way too confused and not on the mark. Maybe this plays out through the product itself and in trying to be all things to the cleaning world, it fails to shine.
I prefer a clear, non fragranced cleaner when it comes to surface sprays but it seems my husband prefers this green apple Dettol brand as every time we finish a bottle, another one appears in the cupboard! I do use sprays for cleaning on a daily basis as with two kids under three I like to know the surfaces are clean from germs.
The spray comes in a green tinted plastic bottle and has the Dettol branding. It promises three times the cleaning power with the 99.9% of bacteria killed and a complete clean cutting grease and soap scum too. The top is a trigger spray that is also lockable when not in use.
Whilst I think this smells a little bit too strongly of apples, I can't fault its cleaning powers and I am actually getting a bit more used to the smell now it's been in use a while. I tend to use this mainly on the kitchen surfaces and also on our dining table which has a pvc cover on it and it cleans up brilliantly on whatever the spill. I like to use this on the non visible spills too to make sure everywhere is extra clean. The bottle has been used right to the bottom and the spray has been consistently good right to the last drop. I tend to use this with a piece of kitchen roll but have also used it with cheap cloths and sponges to equal effect.
I still prefer the clear spray but will use this when we have it in the house and it seems my husband is going to keep buying it as he first noticed it when his work were using the same product and he liked the smell which is why he started buying it - why you want home to smell like work I'll never know but I suppose I should be glad he takes such an active interest in keeping our home clean! I can't fault the cleaning powers of this product and feel it gives peace of mind when it comes to germs.
We paid around £2 for a 500ml bottle of this spray and it went in the trolley on a trip to the supermarket (I can't remember which one but they all sell it).
It seems this is the man's choice for the ultimate in anti bacterial multi action sprays. I must say I like the multi purpose uses of this spray and would use it in the kitchen, dining room or even the kids' bedrooms for cleaning up spills and just general cleaning uses. Recommended but beware it is quite strong smelling.
I like my dear other half to keep our kitchen nice and clean, and generally speaking, she does a reasonable job, though she does need a gentle nudge at times. I buy her the Green Apple Spray from Dettol as I like the smell of this and always think that the kitchen looks and smells great after she has cleaned with this. I am not adverse to taking a cloth in hand and doing a bit of housework myself from time to time, especially if I am after something from her - and I do like to use this stuff as I think it's simple and easy to use and it gives great results with very little effort on my part.
This cleaner comes in a transparent bottle which is made of plastic and is 500ml in size. It has a spray function, which I quite like, as it means I can direct the spray to exactly where I want the cleaner to go - no mess and no fuss. We like this as it claims to kill 99% of bacteria and germs including those that can cause stomach upsets and food poisoning. It cuts through grease and grime at the same time, so therefore no need to have to use a whole host of different products.
We pay only £2.20 for this great spray, which we buy from our local corner shop. The smell of this cleaner is fantastic. It is really strong smelling and powerful, which is what I like in a quality cleaner. Also, it is from Dettol, which is a brand that has been around for years and I really trust.
We use this on all our kitchen surfaces, including the sink. We also use it on the splash backs and the tiles and it never leaves any residue or streaky marks. We always tend to rinse off the residue afterwards and it comes off clean on a damp cloth. It brings everything up sparkling clean and shiny and the taps in particular on the kitchen sink seem to come up a real treat.
The smell of this is fresh and natural and smells of a fresh bowl of apples. Great stuff all round and cannot complain about it at all. It does a fantastic job with minimum effort.
Dettol is a range of household cleaning products. The range includes liquids, sprays and wipes designed to make cleaning tasks a little easier.
Dettol offer a few different Multi-Action sprays. This specific spray is the 4in1 Green Apple variety. This is an antibacterial cleaner which can be used around the home. It is safe to use on kitchen surfaces. bins, floors and even in the bathroom. It offers 4 claims in one :
*suitable for kitchen, bathroom and burnt on food stains
*kills 99.9% of bacteria including various viruses
*leaves surfaces shiny
*leaves a fresh apple scent
To use, spray from 25-30cm from the surface and wipe over.
An ergonomically shaped, green plastic bottle, holds the cleaning fluid. The bottle has a large trigger spray for easy dispensing. All the information relating to the cleaner is present alongside an image of wet apples. The bottle can be recycled after use.
~Availability and Price~
The cleaner is offered in a 500ml size and can be purchased in various supermarkets for around £2.20.
I would hate to have an unclean home and have a wide variety of sprays to carry out various jobs. In a recent review, I advised that I tend to use Daisy Kitchen Cleaner for daily kitchen cleaning. I use this Dettol Multi-Action spray to give my kitchen and other areas of my home, a good scrub down twice a week. I purchased my latest bottle of Dettol a few weeks ago in Asdas big cleaning event for only £1.00.
The bottle is attractive enough as far as cleaners go and is very easy to grip and use. A firm press of the trigger, releases a fine mist of liquid onto my surfaces. The liquid settles almost clear on my surfaces but is visible as it appears quite damp. The scent is quite natural and fresh. The apple aroma is crisp and slightly sweet without the strong chemical scent that many cleaners carry. I use a dry cloth to wipe over the surfaces and then rinse with a damp cloth to buff them to a shine. The spray doesn't foam.
~Apples, Apples Everywhere!~
I leave this to work for a minute or so as it really does get to work very quick. Whilst I mainly use this spray in my kitchen, I have been known to use it in the bathroom as well. My kitchen surfaces are normally hygenic as I wipe them over daily, however some stains seem to stick to them and I may not immediately notice as my surfaces are a marbled, black design. No matter what the stain is, this cleaner efficiently removes it with little effort required on my part. The surfaces come up clean, shiny and I can rest assured any bacteria has been removed.
This cleaner works wonders on my cooker hob and around the front of my cooker. I find some cleaners don't shift those burnt stains on my cooker but if I allow this one to work for a few moments, the majority of the stains lift and sweep away. This cleaner also works well on the cooker dials to remove any marks and bring them to an "as new" appearance again. This also applies to the handles on my kitchen cupboards.
The cleaner is great for my sink area as it removes any marks and leaves the area clean, shiny and streak free. For a quite wipe around my bin, it freshens it up nicely. My tiles get a good rub down using this cleaner and it simply cleans any dust and food splashes that they may have been subject too. In the bathroom, this works incredibly well. It removes soap/shower gel marks around my shower and sink. The toilet is cleaned to a high standard as well.
~Recommendation and Conclusion~aP
Regardless of where I choose to use this cleaner, the surfaces appear clean, hygenic and shiny. The crisp apple freshness lingers and gives me the satisfaction that my home is clean. The spray may be more expensive than others, but one 500ml bottle lasts me ages when combined with a cheaper daily cleaner. I only buy it on offer and have stocked up.
This is an excellent, efficient cleaner which comes highly recommended by myself.
I recently reviewed the dettol anti bacterial multi surface spray, which I am quite the fan of now, however, I also frequently use this Dettol Multi Action all in 1 cleaner, in the green apple fragrance, which currently costs just over £2 for a 500ml trigger bottle.
Dettol is a well recognised make, and I have to say is a brand that I trust in terms of being safe to use, and doing the job that it is designed to do well, without too much work on my behalf, which is always what I want from any cleaning product.
This dettol product comes in a clear bottle, and you can see the apple green coloured liquied inside. On the front of the bottle, it states that this anti bacterial multi action cleaner, kills 99.9% of bacteria, cuts grease, removes soap scum and leaves a visible shine, as well as coming with that green apple fragrance. So therefore, not only is it useful for the kitchen, but can also be used in the bathroom as well, making it quite a versatile product.
Of course there are certain areas and surfaces that this product is not suitable for, including marble, sotne, natural wood, copper/gold plated fittings etc. This product, unlike the one I reviewed previously should not be used on eating utensils, plates or glasses either. Unlike its multi surface partner, this product does require you to spray, leave and then wipe clean and rinse, so it takes a little bit more work than the multi surface dettol spray.
I have to admit that I have rarely used this product in my bathroom, simply because I find Mr Muscle bathroom spray hard to beat, but instead I use this mostly in the kitchen to clean. A few months ago, my husband and I gave our kitchen a real blitz and cleaned out and sorted all our kitchen cupboards, using this product throughout. Firstly, the green apple smell, which you might think could be quite overpowering is acutally very pleasant and leaves a sweet smell lingering in the room. We would have sprayed a cleared cupboard, left it to work, and then came back to it, to wipe it clean, and the cupbooard certainly looked and smelt very clean. Any area where there was some grease that had been missed or built up was easily wiped away after spraying this bottle, and the fact that it claims to kill up to 99.9% is a reassuring quality of the product, giving you piece of mind that it is not only cleaning the surface but killing germs/bacteria at the same time.
All in all, this is another great product from a very well deserving brand. As I said, I have never really used it on my bathroom so I cannot comment on its ability in terms of removing soap scum or limescale, but certainly in the kitchen, it is effective in removing grease and leaving the area clean and smelling fresh, as well as killing all those unwanted bacteria such as E coli. I will certainly keep purchasing this product, and I think at just over the £2 mark, it is a reasonably priced product for what it does.
One thing that I do always have an abundance of in my house is cleaning products, and not due to the fact I'm that clean either, it's more due to the fact they are always on offer when I go shopping!
One of those products is a good anti bacterial spray, as I tend t use this sort of product not only in the kitchen and bathroom, but as a replacement for polish at times when I want a fresher scent.
After shopping recently at Asda, I found this particular product on offer for a mere £1.00 a bottle, which is a real reduction in price compared to it's normal RRP of around the £2.30 mark.
Dettol has always been a name I have known and felt was synonymous with cleanliness and germ killing, so due to this being a Dettol branded spray I instantly felt it would be a good product.
The spray comes in (from what was available at the time anyway!) in two different "scents", these being lemon and green apple, with the apple one being subject of this review also.
The product states it is a multi purpose spray, that not only effectively cleans freshens but also cuts through grease and soap scum, cutting through 99.9% of germs, such as influenza virus and E-coli (always a worry in a kitchen environment).
There is also an extensive list of places this can and can't be used, with the only real no-no's being marble, wood, prolonged contact with plastic's, and if used on a food preparation area rinse after use.
To use you simply turn the end nozzle around to the "on" position then pump the spray handle a couple of times to draw the liquid up through the spray tube, then spray on the area you wish to clean.
I always spray directly onto the grime, rather than onto cloth then wipe, though this is due (particularly in the kitchen setting!) to me having spilt something that then needs help being removed from a work surface, a feat that (with a little soaking time!) is more than effective at.
The spray comes out in a nice spray, and gives just enough moisture to clean a surface, and leave it looking damp enough to see where you have been, but for surfaces such as my kitchen bin (stainless steel) and my porcelain surfaces (bathroom sink) gives a nice shine once cleaned and dried, which again takes very little time to do so.
The smell is the big draw for me, but may also be the reason why it would be no good for others, especially those with weak chests or asthma problems.
The smell is actually quite strong, filling the room you are in with a fantastic scent of fresh apple, which to me makes me feel that I have effectively cleaned a room, leaving it fresh scented and feeling, though it can also make a weak chested person catch their breath, even my husband moaned at how strong the scent was when first sprayed, and he has no problems as such, though a few minutes after cleaning leaves the room with a slight apple scent so therefore should be no problems after that time period.
This is a really nice spray that (as long as you are not spray sensitive) is an ideal addition to my cleaning process, and one that I would quite happily buy and use again.

Thanks for reading x
I like my kitchen to smell nice after I have cleaned the surfaces etc. There is nothing worse for me than the after smell of pine or something musky left over after cleaning.
I spied the green apple fragrance from the Dettol range of cleaning products a while ago, but never seemed to get around to buying anything. Recently I have been using the multipurpose spray in green apple fragrance around my house, but mainly in the kitchen, and it's almost a joy to be cleaning the surfaces now due to the aroma left behind afterwards.
Packaged in a see through green tinted bottle, a large trigger spray nozzle sits on top. I find the bottle to be quite comfortable to hold when spraying a large area. Despite its decent capacity of 500ml the bottle doesn't feel too heavy and the trigger nozzle isn't too tight making it difficult to spray with weaker hands.
The product is designed to clean with a 3 x action cutting through grease, killing 99.9% of bacteria including e-coli and influenza virus.
Despite all the claims on the bottle, I always use my own judgement as I often have to go into battle with the splash back tiles behind my cooker hob after the rest of the family have been cooking and not cleaned up after themselves.
The aroma is quite strong when you first spray, so I would take note and not get too close to the action. This is standard for using all chemicals though so common sense should prevail.
I always make sure I spray and then leave whilst I get my cloth ready for action. This gives the product a few seconds to do its work against the grime.
I would say that when wiping up any spills and stains that haven't had a chance to set in, then this spray works instantly and leaves a clean surface quickly. On stubborn stains I find slightly more elbow grease is needed but I still end up with good results.
Once I have finished cleaning, I find the aroma to still be in the air even up to a couple of hours later. As this is a nice fresh smell of fruit then this is very pleasant in the kitchen around food preparation.
For my £2.20, I find the bottle is large enough to last a good three to four weeks with daily use before I need to restock. As you don't need to spray too liberally then this makes the slightly more expensive price tag more cost effective and better value for money.
Overall I am pleased with the results that I have gotten with this kitchen cleaner and it's good to have some peace of mind for protecting myself and my family against harmful bacteria that build up only too quickly.
When it comes to my flat I'm rather house proud. My flatmate simply isn't so in the main (although I nag and go off my head from time to time) the majority of the cleaning is mine to do as is the purchasing of the products to help me to do so.
However saying that I do enjoy cleaning and I am picky and fussy and so at least if I'm at the helm of doing it I know a good job is done!
I spotted this in Asda costing £1.97 a bottle and was instantly attracted to it. Not only cos it's an all in one spray and the bottle looks rather functional but also because it is a product from Dettol and that is a brand I was brought up with and trust.
The bottle is see-through plastic with a white trigger sprayer to the top of it and it does have a red plastic on/off twisty section too so I can make sure it is turned off so my mates kids can't play with it when they visit!T he bottle holds 500ml of product and on the front label I am told that it is Dettol 'Best Ever Clean' Anti-Bacterial Multi-Action Cleaner and that it kills 99.0% of bacteria, cuts grease, removes a soap scum, leaves a visible shine and that it has a green apple fragrance. On the back label other information listed includes being told to where to use it and what it is suitable for and how too use it, warnings are listed as are the ingredients, the size is stated (as I've noted already) and contact details for Dettol are given. Nice, informative bottle this is and I do like the on/off bit to the top of the sprayer for safety reasons.
This is suitable for kitchens and bathrooms though not suitable for marble, stone surfaces, natural wood, painted surfaces, enamel/metal baths and brass, copper gold plated fittings.
All you do with this dark green, light apple (and naturally fragranced of apple) transparent liquid is spray it on (at arms length) where you want to clean. I use this in the kitchen and bathroom and pretty much everywhere apart from on glass and/or mirrors. The directions on the bottle say to spray and leave it for ten minutes and then wipe it away (no need to rinse) but I only do that on really grotty and dirty things and find a quick spray and a wipe is usually all that is required with this.
It sprays out wet and like I say smells really highly pleasant though not too highly fragranced. I use it on the bath, around taps and it removes dirt and scum with total ease and no real hard work on my part which I wholeheartedly approve of, of course! lol. It removes grease and everything really and does as promised on the bottle leave a nice shine!
My kitchen does get dirty. I love to cook and so does my messy flatmate (which I have tried banning of late due to grease and grime ending up everywhere!) however she insists on feeding herself! This once again makes cleaning up after her a total breeze. I wipe down all my work surfaces, fronts of cupboards and the tiles she manages to splatter with grease and this really does cut through it again leaving a nice shine in the kitchen. I even wipe over my cooker with this after every-time the cooker is used to keep it looking in tip top condition!
I like the way this really does clean up grease and grime. No hard work or rubbing is required from me, I like the lasting fresh fragrance this leaves behind too and I feel safe in the knowledge that this really does kill bacteria too!
Available in all good supermarkets etc and in different fragrances too!

DETTOL ALL IN ONE MULTI ACTION GREEN APPLE FRAGRANCE
I am quite fond of these trigger spray cleaners mainly because they seem to do the job effectively and are simple to use. The product I am reviewing is the Green Apple but it is also available in Pink Grapefruit, and Atlantic Fresh.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The cleaner comes in a 500ml plastic bottle with a trigger action spray and the product looks green because the bottle is green in keeping I suppose with the apple theme. All of the instructions and information about the product is on the back of the bottle.
The cleaner itself when sprayed over surfaces comes out clear and in a steady spray- no sudden rushes of the product. It does smell a bit like apples and has a definite clean and fresh smell which I rather like.
WHAT IT DOES...
This makes a number of cleaning promises
* "powers" through kitchen grease (I like that)
* Tough on bathroom soap scum and limescale
* Leaves a visible shine
* Kills 99.9% of bacteria
* Leaves a fresh fragrance
All good stuff and excellent if what it claims is true.
SO, HOW DO I USE IT?
The first thing to do is to turn the nozzle onto "on", which is done by turning the red cap on the trigger. Keep the bottle upright and spray from about 20cm. Leave to work for up to 10 minutes and wipe clean.
WHERE CAN I USE IT?
Kitchens and bathrooms but not on marble, stone, eating utensils enamel, brass and copper.
The usual warnings come with this product such as:
* Keep out of the reach of children
* Avoid contact with eyes
* Do not swallow.
For anyone wanting to know about this and other products, the website, www.dettol.co.uk has lots of information
Available in supermarkets, this cost me around the £2 mark so good value cleaner.
Dettol is a make a tend to trust not least because i associate it with the dettol liquid, so it's easy to convince me that this will guard against germs; I don't know if this fact is true because I can't see them, so I take it as written.
The product itself is easy to use, and if left on surfaces, when i wipe it away, it does remove grime and food stains. It is also effective as a "normal" spray cleaner, so I often just spray and wipe without leaving it.
The cleaner smells nice and fresh and clean and since it can be used in kitchens and bathrooms means i don't have to have lots of products- this does nicely for both.
A recommended product.
