Easy Aloe Vera Washing Up Liquid
Disadvantages: doesn't clean well
I was running low on washing up liquid and was nowhere near my usual supermarkets so I decided to just go wherever I could. I came across a Poundland store and ran in there to see what I could find. I noticed this bottle of Easy washing up liquid in the Aloe Vera scent which I have never heard of before but being a good price I picked up two bottles as this was the offer. I like Aloe Vera on products and the overall look wasn't too cheap and it seemed fine to me which is why I went ahead with my purchase.
This washing up liquid comes in your usual squeezy clear plastic bottle and inside is a blueish green liquid but you can see how much is left with the bottle being clear. It has a pull up head to squeeze liquid out of the top and the label is bright and has the Easy logo bold on the front. It is a 500ml bottle and it says on the front what scent it is and then it has an image of Aloe Vera but it is all very simple and to the point, no gimmicks which I like. The bottle looks fine and the reverse has all of the detailed information on how to use etc.
ALOE VERA WASHING UP LIQUID
This liquid aims to be kinder to hands and leave dishes sparkling and is of course made from Aloe Vera extract. There is not too much detail on the back other than a list of ingredients and a warning that if you have sensitive or damaged skin to avoid prolonged contact with hands. I do have sensitive skin but I normally wear my rubber gloves to protect my hands and nails from the water anyway. The fact they don't go on too much at the back about promising what the liquid does, I like as they don't force too much on you and leave you to decide but maybe a bit more information would be beneficial.
Now, to use the liquid you can use it with either a brush or a sponge, I prefer a sponge as I like it to absorb more. The liquid is a green colour and very runny so I usually put a size about the same as a 2p coin on the sponge and then run it under the hot water to let it foam up. This is the part I got disappointed as I compared this on a pile of dishes with another brand I have previously reviewed. The Easy liquid I drizzled onto the sponge and it gave off some foam at first but I could hardly smell it which is not good as you want a clean smell on dishes.
I squeezed the sponge after rubbing my dish and then when I went to rub again all of the foam was gone like that and I had to apply again which isn't very good as you shouldn't need to squeeze more out after only doing one plate. Whereas with my other brand I put the same amount on a sponge and it kept going and going and also it had a strong smell which is where Easy fell flat as it didn't really have much of a smell at all when cleaning. I just feel with Easy you have to use a lot of product to ensure you are cleaning your dishes and comparing it with the other brand it just wasn't as good.
Now, because I found this product failed a lot when it came to general rinsing I decided to see how it came down to the test when washing it up on big pans and dirty baking trays etc again with the other brand. Now, I had baking trays with burnt sauce stuck to them, sauce pans with sauces also in them, plates, mugs, cutlery etc to give a full range of how this can clean. I do think with the baking trays it did take off some of the dirt but again it didn't really fully remove the dirt and I had to use a wire cloth to fully remove the grime which is unpleasant with a tray that you want remnants of dinners prior still on your tray for the next days cooking.
I think on easier dishes like pans and knives and forks Easy cleans like that as it will rinse but for really hardcore scrubbing where you need foam to soak the dishes and really help to remove dirt by making it slip off, unless you use A LOT Easy will not clean harder stains. It isn't good on frying pans either unless you soak it forever. I do think that being a budget brand Easy may be getting a hard time here but washing up liquid is meant to clean dishes thoroughly and if I feel it has not given good results then I cannot lie and say that it has cleaned well, when it hasn't.
I think with Easy it is ok if you hardly use a lot of dishes and just clean the odd plate and bowl here and there. However, if like me you enjoy cooking meals from scratch and use a lot of pans and a lot of dirty dishes then you need a washing up liquid that will meet your expectations and ensure it removes grease and grime to get dishes sparkling again. This says it leaves dishes sparkling but I can safely say I saw no sparkle in sight and the smell is one of my favourite parts but it just wasn't that apparent.
I don't think I will be buying Easy washing up liquid again as for me it just wasn't good enough. It did not cause my skin any irritation but that is about the only plus I have for the brand.
INGREDIENTS: 5-15% Anionic Surfactants, <5% Non-ionic surfactants. Perfume: Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzisothiazolinone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone.
If you want to buy Easy washing up liquid you can get it in places like Poundland, I am sure I paid £1 for a bottle or two in there so it really won't set you back moneywise.
