      Advantages

      Disadvantages

a lovely washing up liquid but not my favourite

      ~Aloe Vera and Cucumber~

The Aloe Vera and Cucumber washing up liquid is part of the 'Clean and Care' range offered by Fairy. There are four products in this range. This washing up liquid is formulated with the grease busting benefits of regular Fairy but also contains a touch of Olay to leave your hands feeling soft and smooth.

This washing up liquid is presented in a slim, curvy bottle made from clear, durable plastic. A flip top lid allows for easy pouring and the labels on the bottle offer the important product information. The bottle can be recycled. The lime green liquid is visible through the bottle and it looks quite nice.

      ~Where To Buy~

This particular washing up liquid can be bought from supermarkets and stores such as Wilkos. Expect to pay around £1.50 for a 433ml bottle. Tesco currently has a '2 for £2.00' offer on Fairy products.

      ~My Thoughts~

I favour the Fairy brand when it comes to buying washing up liquids. I normally opt for the regular Fairy scents but decided to try the Clean and Care range. I originally bought the purple one (silk orchid I think it is called) but on my last purchase from Tesco, I bought a bottle of the regular lemon and also a bottle of this Aloe and Cucumber washing up liquid.

I personally hate doing the dishes but we do not have space nor can be afford a dishwasher so needs must! The liquid itself is a pearlescent, lime green colour and looks quite thick and substantial within the bottle. It pours very quickly through the cap and I find that not a lot is needed per use. I normally place all the dishes in the basin after use and fill with hot, soapy water to soak for a short while. On contact with hot water, this washing liquid produces a decent amount of soft, creamy bubbles which reminds me of bubble bath more than a washing up liquid especially as the water turns rather cloudy and milky.

I like the scent of this washing up liquid but again, it reminds me of a bubble bath or shower product which I feel is down to the addition of the Olay. The scent is fresh and clean but quite mild with the cucumber being the most prominent scent that my nose can pick up on. The bubbles last well in the basin and by the time I have returned to the kitchen after a short while, most food residue has slipped off the dishes and they can be rinsed easily and left to dry. I find that this washing up liquid is effective are remove grease and food marks with ease and without much input for me.

I personally choose to leave things to soak but to be fair, you don't need to leave them long with the Fairy solution on them. It gets to work quickly. I find that it doesn't just work well on plates and cutlery but also pots, pans and baking trays. I soak my slow cooker pot in it and it removes all dried on food with ease. If I am in a rush, I can easily pour this onto a damp scourer pad or cloth and apply neat to the dishes before rinsing.

I have been impressed by how well this performs as a washing up liquid. It is just as good as the original Fairy in my opinion. Any soapy residue is rinsed away from dishes without any hassle and my dishes, cups, pots etc are left sparkling clean. I find that my hands so feel lovely and soft after washing the dishes. I have sensitive hands and this is a very gentle washing up liquid. The addition of the Olay is great as it leaves my hands feeling moisturised and delicately scented.

      ~Conclusion~

My 433ml bottle is lasting well and I feel that you get a lot for your money with Fairy products. I like this one as it performs to a high standard and I don't need to scrub at the dishes to ensure they are free from food marks or grease. I do like the scent but it feels sort of 'out of place' in my kitchen and is more of a beauty product scent. For that reason, I do prefer the other scents offered by Fairy but I would happily buy this again if it was on offer.

      Thanks for reading :)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A win-win product that cleans whilst it cares

When I first moved out of home I tried to cut the weekly costs on my shopping bill by simply sticking to the supermarket alternative rather than branded products. Washing up liquid was one such decision; however try as I might to steer away from the branded product I always found myself coming back to the ever dependable Fairy. Now several years on I will always tend to buy which ever Fairy bottle colour best suits my kitchen. Usually that is the light purple silk and orchid variety however, finding my local Wilkinsons had run out of this option recently I bought the Aloe Vera and Cucumber instead.

This washing up liquid is rather simply packaged in a transparent 433ml bottle which has a red flip top lid. The liquid shown through the bottle is a beautiful light green in colour and almost pearlescent to look at. On the side of the bottle is the rather obligatory baby in a nappy Fairy log plus the attraction of washing up liquid with a touch of Oil of Olay. This washing up liquid is part of the Clean and Care Range meaning it is specifically designed to pamper your hands and leave your dishes clean; a perfect solution to the winter months when we all need moisture to dry hands.

Upon flipping up the lid you are met with a lovely soft smell from within. I must admit to not thinking that I would like the smell of this washing up liquid as I am not a huge fan of either ingredient however the fragrance was light and sweet and slightly herbal with the faintest trace of cucumber. This smell seemed to soak into my skin whilst washing up and left a fresh clean scent in the kitchen, perfect after the daily cooking fumes.

To use simply pour a dollop into the kitchen sink bowl and swish for bubbles. I find that a little of this liquid goes a long way with a small blob of liquid providing a deep bowl of washing up water which tackles all my daily dishes. For soaking, I also tend to pour a small amount of Fairy into the oven baked dish, fill it up to the rim with hot water and leave to soak for a few minutes before scrubbing. This usually results in the food being much easier to wipe away.

I do not own a dishwasher as being that there are only two of us in our home we didn't see the need, and therefore do all of our dish washing by hand. I find that Fairy provides a rich cleaning solution which tackles even the most stubborn of food and also gets rid of the grease that we get on many of our oven baking dishes and frying pans. As a result of the caring qualities of this liquid my hands are not as dried out as usual and definitely feel softer after I have done the washing up, however I must note that I have not found this to be an alternative to hand cream and still lather myself with moisturiser at this time of year.

This washing up liquid can be bought from all good supermarkets for around £1 - £2, however for a better price it is worth going to a Wilkinsons as I bought mine from here for only £1. In my opinion this makes it a bargain, not only do the bubbles last longer than any other alternative but the small amount needed per wash means that it lasts longer too.

This is one of a great range of caring washing up liquids from Fairy which has exceeded my expectations and I would therefore recommend it.

This product scores five stars out of five from me.

        Thanks for reading! x

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great quality product

Fairy Clean and Care with Aloe Vera and Cucumber washing up liquid is a personal favourite of mine at washing up time. I actually really enjoy washing up with this gorgeous smelling liquid. It costs a little bit more than the original Fairy but is widley available and is eye catching I think as it is almost pearlised in the see through plastic sturdy bottle.

The bottle has a handy flip top lid and because it is clear you can see how much you have used up and how much you have left.

It produces some wonderful bubbles when you let the hot water run over it and you only do need a tiny amount so it is really excellent value for money I personally think.

It is excellent at getting rid of dried on and baked on hard foods and if I just leave the dishes to soak for a little while and go back in about ten minutes, usually the food will just slide off the heavily soiled pots and pans without me having to set about scrubbing them with any force. Even burnt on food comes off simply and easily without any real effort.

As well as being a really unusual smell, I find it is very kind and gentle to my skin and never leaves my hands feeling dry or rough as some other washing up liqids are prone to do.

All in all a fantastic product which I greatly recommend.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        a great washing up liquid

I have recently been trying to economise and try cheaper own brand products instead of the generally more expensive branded ones. But on a recent trip to good old Wilko's with my mum I told her that I needed to get some washing up liquid and spotted this Fairy Clean and Clear Aloe Vera and Cucumber one on offer which my mum said she had tried before and found it very good so I popped it into her basket as I knew she would let me get away with this little freebie!

The washing up liquid comes in a clear plastic bottle allowing you to see the slightly creamy looking lime green washing up liquid inside. The bottle has a red cap, with a lid you simply pop open. To distribute the liquid you just simply squeeze the bottle an it comes out easily with out leaving any drips down the bottle.

The washing up liquid came in a 433ml bottle and cost £1.00 from Wilkinson's. This was on offer and I think the normal retail price is in the region of £1.50, I would personally only buy this product if was on offer as I will not pay more than £1.00 for a bottle of washing up liquid.

This Fairy contains aloe vera and cucumber which has a lovely fresh fragrance which you can smell as soon as you flip the cap open. It also contains a touch of Olay which is to help your skin stay protected and moisturised. This drew me to this washing up liquid as I suffer from eczema at times and find that some cleaning producst can aggravate it quite a lot.

I have found this Fairy very good, it gives a good lather from only a small amount and has a pleasant fragrance which does not seem to linger on the dishes once they have dried. It also has excellent cleaning power with greasy and burnt on food lifting off my dishes without too much scrubbing. I have also used this washing up liquid without my rubber gloves on and have found it to be rather gentle and have had no irritated skin, although as stated on the bottle I do rinse my hands after use still. In conclusion I would certainly buy this washing up liquid again if it was on offer!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        .

This is probably 1 of the nicest Washing Up Liquids out there and although I don't use Washing Up liquid a lot since having a Dishwasher I do still do the odd bit of hand washing (in an emergency!), but I do have a few engraved glasses that Hubby doesn't want put in the Dishwasher and he tend to use these quite a lot. Then again he doesn't wash them himself - grrr.

This comes in a 500ml bottle and the price of this can vary anything up to £1.60 which seems quite expensive for a Liquid. I guess since I don't buy a product like this on a month basis then when I go to buy this again then it's usually jumped up by a few pence every time. Sometimes this brand can be on offer in Asda and often this can be picked up for £1, which is when I tend to buy a product like this and stick it in the cover. Every saving helps.

The bottle for this is alright. It is a nice enough shape and you can see the light green Gel through the bottle.

The smell from this is lovely. It is a fresh and simple scent. The 2 scents that are in here aren't exactly heavy scented and although Cucumber doesn't really have much of a scent I feel you get a nice clean smell from this. The Aloe Vera part is definitely the stronger part in here and that is a lovely smell.

This does the job which is obviously to clean you dishes and a little blob of this under hot running water goes a long way so a bottle lasts a good lenght of time.

I would say that this scent is up there with my favourites. I like the Pomegranate one as well and I don't tend to go for the original scented 1 as I find that it is a bit boring so I will continue to buy scents like this.

If you haven't tried this one then I recommend this one.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not one I'll be purchasing again personally, it's not worth paying 50% more than for original Fairy

Since my childhood I've always known that there is ONLY ONE washing up liquid to use in one's kitchen - Fairy. Growing up with those ever so cute TV ads where they sing softly to you "...hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face, with mild green Fairy Liquid".

I remember clearly using the empty tall white Fairy bottles for "projects" having gotten ideas from TV shows as "Blue Peter" and "Why Don't You?" I can't remember when the white bottle disappeared off our supermarket shelves and was replaced with a clear shorter wider bottle through which you could see what you were getting and I don't recall when they introduced all these new flavours (or rather scents) of the washing up liquid but we thought for a change we would try out the Fairy Clean & Care version with Aloe Vera & Cucumber.

        WHAT IS IT?

Fairy Clean & Care version with Aloe Vera & Cucumber is basically Fairy liquid with aloe vera & cucumber, just as it says on the tin (or bottle in this case). The actual washing up liquid is a milky green colour rather than the deep green of original Fairy. Initially I really didn't like the look of this version as I couldn't shake off the feeling I was washing my dishes with hand wash, but I got over that after a week or so.

I've listed the ingredients at the end of the review in case anyone has any allergies to products used to make this product.

        THE CLAIMS

The Clean & Care range claims to moisturise your hands whilst getting your dishes beautifully clean, there are three products in this particular range - Silk & Orchid, Almond and Aloe Vera & Cucumber.

The Aloe Vera & Cucumber claims to fill one's kitchen with "the uplifting aroma of aloe vera and cucumber while leaving your dishes sparkling clean". The Fairy website quotes that 90% of women surveyed for a magazine agreed that this version of Fairy did, in fact, help keep their hands soft and moisturised as well as making a good job of cleaning the dishes.

This version of the Clean & Care liquid also has a touch of Olay in it.

        THE REALITY

I can't say that my hands aren't soft and moisturised after using Fairy Clean & Clear Aloe Vera & Cucumber as they are - BUT I would stress that they feel no different to having using the original green Fairy for decades.

When first using Fairy Clean & Clear Aloe Vera & Cucumber we found that we were willing the bottle to be finished so we could get back to using original Fairy, but we couldn't quite put our finger on why we felt this way, very strange.

We certainly haven't noticed any infusion of aloe vera and/or cucumber in the kitchen when doing a batch of washing. From a personal point of view this could have had something to do with recently having a nose problem which meant I couldn't smell ANYTHING for a few months but it's all back to normal now after an operation and my sense of smell is stronger than ever and I struggle to get ANY scent from this particular product. My husband, who has a very strong sense of smell, doesn't smell anything either when washing up (yes, he's a good lad and does his fair share).

We've found that the bottle lasts a jolly long time and we don't skimp when it comes to using cleaning products, probably often using more than we need to. Then again, it doesn't last any longer than original Fairy so I can't see the benefit of especially buying this one aside from wanting a change.

After all is said and done, I can't fault this version of Fairy for getting my dishes clean, although it doesn't do a better job than original Fairy. So I feel that aside from a somewhat prettier label on the bottle and a bit of advertising spiel about how it's all better for your hands and gives out a pleasant scent - there really isn't much difference between this particular Clean & Care product and original Fairy.

As for the touch of Olay claim, I can honestly say I've not noticed any difference in the softness of my hands compared to original Fairy and as for the touch of Olay claim, I'm unable to say it makes any difference.

Of course, one mustn't forget to mention here that this version of Fairy is as good at getting one's dishes perfectly clean as the original Fairy. I can't imagine ever buying any other washing up liquid apart from Fairy.

        PRICING

At the time of writing (July 2011), a 433ml bottle of the Aloe Vera & Cucumber Fairy retails at around £1.50 compared to £1.00 for original Fairy of the same size.

        RATING

Rating Fairy Clean & Clear Aloe Vera & Cucumber against other washing up products I'd give it a clear ahead of the game 5 out of 5 but rating it against original Fairy? Well it's nothing special - an average rating, maybe slightly less for costing more but not living up to its claims (for me). It's certainly not worth paying 50% extra for over original Fairy. We're back to using original Fairy, we're sorry we strayed away from it in the first place!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Great product - stock up when you see an offer

I always use a decent washing liquid in my house as I think you use more of the cheaper ones and therefore it is false ecomony, recently Asda had a cleaning event on and some Fairy products were on offer so I decided to try out a couple of the nicer washing liquids and this was one of them.

I bought this for £1 whilst it was on offer but it is usually £1.53 in Asda and a similar price in Tesco and the like, I have found that we have a discount store near to us though and they tend top sell some of the brands at much cheaper prices which is great.

The product comes in a clear plastic bottle which curves outover from bottom to middle and then inover again up to the top, the liquid inside can be seen and this is a lime green colour but not quite as bright. The lid of the bottle is a red flip top lid which hides a little hole underneath for dispensing the product. On the front of the bottle it states the liwuid has touch of olay softness, therte is also the fairy logo, name of the product and the little cartoon baby that is always on Fairy products.

On the rear of the bottle there are a couple of little pictures to indicate that the product should be kept away from children and that contact with eyes should be avoided, there are no directions for use which I found surprising although it should be pretty obvious what to do with it. There is a little bit about handcare and how your hands should be thoroughly dry and then a list of ingredients.

I think this product smells lovely but it reminds me a a lynx smell but not as strong, I certainly cannot smell aloe vera or cucumber. The liquid is pretty thick and has a pearlised look to it which is a nice touch but does make you wonder how much extra you pay to have this. When run under water this lathers up well and gives plenty of bubbles from a little squirt, it works hard on dried on food with a little soaking and it cuts through grease brilliantly. This is one of the best washing up liquids along with the majority of Fairys other ones but as for olay softness my hands do not feel any difference and I hope that doesn't add to the price as if it does it is not worth paying the extra.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Fair product

==Fairy Clean and Care Washing up Liquid With Aloe Vera and Cucumber==

Considering we have a dishwasher we still seem to do a good deal of washing up on a daily basis. I have often steered away from the Fairy brand and opted for a cheaper alternative but I find myself always coming back to Fairy as it is undoubtedly the best in performance and longevity of each bottle.

I only really picked up this particular bottle because I was in Poundland (having done my Morrison's shop to find all the Fairy was not on a special and was at a price I knew I could get cheaper in Poundland) and this was the only bottle of Fairy liquid that they had at the time. Although having had a look at the product I was keen to try it out and see how good it was.

            ==Price and Availability==

Like I said I got my bottle of this Clean and Care from Poundland which means I only paid £1 for it. This is a fairly good price for a bottle that has a random amount of 433 ml in it. I think buying it for a pound means that you save around 50 pence off of the RRP which is a saving I am happy to make. There are larger sized bottles which work out slightly better value for money and I think you would look at paying around £2 for a bottle with 650 odd ml in. The price compared to all the other washing up liquids on the shelves is pretty expensive but with Fairy you know you are getting a good product which will last a long time rather than buying a shops own brand which you need a lot more of to get the desired amount of bubbles and cleanness.

I have seen this particular Fairy product more or less everywhere I go. I suspect you could even pick it up in a local shop as it seems like a pretty popular product. Lidl did have it on a special offer a short while ago and these are always worth looking out for as no one wants to pay the full price of an everyday product such as this.

            ==Product Design==

This clean and Care Aloe Vera and Cucumber bottle of Fairy does stand out from the selves more than any of the other bottle of washing up liquid as it has a pearl like colour to the liquid held inside the bottle. The bottle shape and lid is the same as with all the other bottles of Fairy but where the plastic bottle is clear you can easily see the green pearl like liquid inside. The label of the bottle is slightly different as well as it is not hard to notice the Olay name on the front of it. It states that there is a "touch" of the Olay moisturiser inside the washing up liquid and this is obviously the "care" aspect of the product and does draw me towards buying the product as my hands do get terribly dry from all the housework and washing up I do.

The bottle of liquid has a very practice design which means you know exactly how much of the washing up liquid is left inside and know when to get a replacement. It is also pretty easy to make sure you get every last drop of the liquid out and I even swish the bottle round with a bit of warm water once I have come to the end to get every last drop out of it. This is easy to do because the cap on the top is a screw cap one and easy to take off and put back on.

            ==Smell and Look==

The green pearl like liquid inside makes you instantly think that the product it thicker, richer and creamier in texture than any other of the Fairy products or even any other washing up liquid that I have ever used. Although the colours of the product don't match my kitchen very much I keep the bottle in the cupboard under the sink so it is not a bottle that is out on show.

When squirting out the product I can see that the texture although appeared thicker was more or less the same as the original Fairy liquid and squirted from the bottle with relative easy and I was keen to make sure that I didn't use to much or else I would have a mountain of bubbles on my hands (literally).

The smell is also something that is noticeable right away and smells so different from the standard Fairy products that I tend to always use. The fresh cucumber aroma was there as soon as I squirted a bit into the empty washing up bowel but did get a lot stronger once the hot water hit it and the bubbles began to flow. The fragrance seems very summer like and the fresh uplifting aroma makes it almost a joy to do the washing up. Almost.

            ==General Use==

As with all Fairy products a tiny bit of the liquid really does go a long way to creating a good deal of bubbles and a good solution to do the greasy pans from the oven. I always add really hot water to the washing up and tend to let things soak a little while before getting my hands in. If I remember I try to stick with using my rubber gloves but more often than not I always forget and end up sticking my hands in this very hot bowl and get stuck in scrubbing away.

The amount of bubbles and the cleaning capabilities of this Fairy really seem not to differ at all from other Fairy liquids. Of course it does differ a lot from the cheaper brands of supermarkets own labels and I would always opt for Fairy without question. The bubbles of Fairy cut through greasy quickly and the product shifts even the toughest of baked on dirt from pans with a mere few minutes of soaking.

I can't say that I noticed any real difference with the way that this washing up liquid affected my hands and I didn't feel any change at all. The smell of the fragrance was nice and relaxing and made a change to the original one or the lavender and other fancy fragrances from Fairy but to be honest I found that the main selling point of this Fairy really wasn't apparent when I used it. In fact my hands were suffering so much after a few days of using it that I had to hunt out the gloves and made sure I had them on for a few days of washing up. I am really not sure how much of a "touch" of Olay is added to this product but it obviously wasn't enough to make any real difference in the feel and appearance of may hands.

            ==Overall Opinion==

I have to say that because I picked this up for the good price of £1 that it was fine to use and the fragrance did make a nice change. However I don't think that the selling point of having Olay in the product would make it more appealing to me now that I have tried it and realised it really is nothing special. I find wearing rubber gloves far more effective at keeping hands soft and protected against doing the washing up.

I wouldn't want to pay anything over £1 for this product and to be fair I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase this particular one again especially if I could get more of the original Fairy for £1 or less. Overall I think that it is a good product at cleaning all the pots, pans and plates and leaving them streak free and dirt free but this is the same with any other Fairy products. I think just becuase of its cleaning capabilities it gets a 4 out of 5 stars and the minus mark is really only because it claims to give you that bit of extra care with the Olay which I personally just can't see.

I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you

Many thanks for taking the time to read.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Not improvements

I am already a regular user of Fairy washing up liquid but when I came across an offer online to try a sample bottle of a new cucumber and aloe Vera I jumped at the chance. To enter I had to complete a short survey and was successful. A few weeks later I was delighted that a full size bottle of 433mls arrived on my doorstep. I wasn't so excited I felt an urge to immediately try it so I simply stored it in the cupboard until I finished my current bottle of Fairy.

Fairy has always claimed to be mild on your hands and I have had no problems with it previously but this new range claims to have a touch of Olay softness so I expected a noticeable difference. The bottle looks no different from the standard bottle other than this Olay logo. The liquid which can be seen through the transparent bottle is pale green which you would expect in an aloe Vera and cucumber fragrance. I have smelt it but and it does remind me of my cucumber cleanser I currently but has a far more chemical smell although this is not unpleasant.

One thing that fairy has been known to claim is that it does do more dishes. I used the standard squirt that I usually use and it does have the usual creamy thick consistency I am used to but found it did not create the normal amount of bubbles so have found I now have to add extra liquid to a sink of dishes. I have also noticed that the benefits of fairy do not seem to be lasting as long.

I do seem to actually have more dishes than usual at the moment as I am trying to reduce the amount of processed food in my diet so I would say I am washing up more dishes and more frequently but I can say I have noticed no difference to the softness of my hands.

I personally do not think this is as good as the standard bottles. I am grateful I have been given the opportunity to try this product but shall be returning to standard fairy one I have used this bottle up which will be sooner rather than later due to the extra liquid I am using. I am all for product improvement but sadly I am unable to find one area of improvement in the change to this product.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

An effective washing up liquid from Fairy

I'm all for trying out new products and whilst carrying out my weekly shop a month or so ago I spotted Fairy Clean and Care Aloe Vera and Cucumber. However, due to its' excessive price tag I left it on the supermarket shelf and proceeded to purchase my normal cheaper brand. Approximately one week later the postman knocked the door and handed me a parcel and to my sheer amazement contained inside was a full sized bottle of Fairy Clean and Care, which was sent to me with the compliments of the manufacturer, namely Proctor and Gamble. I haven't a clue why I was selected to receive this product and judging by a number of reviews I have read on Dooyoo it seems that there were many other lucky recipients.

It was only after joining Dooyoo and scrutinising the packaging on everything that I review that I realised that Proctor and Gamble are responsible for the manufacturing of so many products. The appearance of Fairy Clean and Clear is considerably eye-catching due to the fact that the 433 ml of contents contained within the transparent plastic bottle are of lime green in colour. The bottle itself resembles that of the remainder of their washing up liquid range and it is only when I scrutinise the front of the bottle that I realise that there is no mention whatsoever that this is a washing up liquid. Of course, the majority of consumers know this brand well, but it's somewhat strange that Proctor and Gamble have included the purpose of this product in the smallest of writing on the reverse label.

Over the years the shape of the Fairy bottle has considerably changed and I can vividly recall the old cylindrical type bottle that my Mum would regularly use. Nowadays the bottles are much more appealing and allow us to see the vivid contents. There are a few indentations on both the lower and upper sections, which are clearly for show rather than any specific purpose. As with all of the Fairy products we are provided with a circular label on the front of the bottle where we are able to see the Royal crest and of course, the well-known image of the adorable Fairy baby. This product is quite unique, as we are informed that the liquid contains OLAY softness and for those of you familiar with OLAY you will be aware that their products are gentle and caring for our skin.

The fairly thick liquid is easily dispensed via the bright red flip top lid and I can clearly recall pinching these lids from my Mum's bottles when I was a little girl. However, I haven't a clue why, but I strongly suspect it was for one of my craft making ideas where I was always making dolls' houses! I cannot think what I would have made with a lid from a bottle of Fairy, so answers on a postcard please!

Whilst I will eat cucumber in very small proportions I cannot bear its' fragrance, so I initially was a little deterred in using this product and thought my husband would always have to do the washing up! Some chance! However, the fragrance is considerably mild and very pleasant, so it was quite favourable to use. Only a very small amount was required to be dispensed into the running water where I was presented with mounds of bubbles and whilst I was unable to witness any softness in the water I did not suffer any adverse reactions when using. You may be aware that I suffer terribly with my hands particularly in the cold winter months whereby the skin tends to crack and bleed. However, due to constantly applying good quality creams over the last couple of weeks I seem to have overcome my problem. I do not like wearing rubber gloves when washing up, so will regularly omit using them and I was pleased that my hands did not burn or itch whilst using this product.

The liquid was extremely effective at removing the grease and grime from my dishes, particularly the meat juices from that tasty Sunday roast. Another real positive with this product is that one small squirt is sufficient to wash a mountain of dishes, as with some of the cheaper versions I find that the bubbles tend to disappear and I need to refill my bowl. I've been using this product for a couple of weeks and am very pleased with the results, particularly as I find it so gentle and caring for my hands.

I was extremely lucky in receiving a free bottle, particularly as accompanying it were four 50p vouchers redeemable against any future purchases. Consequently, whilst browsing in Asda last week I discovered that they had reduced this range from the normal price of £1.50 to £1, so I picked up four bottles and redeemed all of my vouchers, which allowed me to purchase them for just 50p each. I cannot recommend this product highly enough, so it receives a full 5 stars from me.

There is a little information provided on the reverse of the bottle whereby we are informed that if you have sensitive or damaged skin you should avoid prolonged use of this product. Fairy is a member of the British Skin Foundation, which is a charity for skin disease and skin cancer research. Contact should not be made with the eyes and if this occurs you should immediately wash the area with water. The bottle can be recycled once empty.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

A premium product from a premium brand

Despite having a shiny new dishwasher and doing my utmost to avoid washing up by hand nowadays, I can't resist a freebie. I was delighted, therefore, to receive an email courtesy of the Supersavvyme website giving me the opportunity to claim a free bottle of washing up liquid from Fairy's Clean & Care range. For anybody else who loves getting free products to try, I'd recommend signing up to Supersavvyme. (See the website at www.supersavvyme.com for more details.)

After responding to the email, I was pleased to receive a full sized (433ml) bottle of Clean & Care - the Aloe Vera & Cucumber variety- through the post. Although I'm very familiar with the Fairy brand, owned by the multinational corporation Proctor and Gamble, I hadn't used any of their Clean & Care range before. This range supposedly combines the superior cleaning power of Fairy with the moisturising benefits of Olay. It's an interesting idea - the ultimate in multi-tasking if I can moisturise while I wash up!

The Aloe Vera and Cucumber variety comes packaged in the typical transparent plastic Fairy bottle which clearly shows quite an attractive looking pale green pearlescent liquid. Being a premium washing up liquid, it is fairly thick and only a tiny amount is really needed to create enough bubbles for a full sink of dirty dishes. I must confess, I'm a bit heavy handed with my squeeze and end up using far too much per wash. Fairy's famous claim is that it lasts much longer than other cheaper products as you need less, making it better value for money in the long run. Unfortunately, this doesn't hold true if you use as much as you would for a cheaper version!

When I first tried this particularly washing up liquid, I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer quantity of the bubbles and by the gorgeous fragrance coming from the sink. The overall effect looked like something I wanted to jump into and soak in myself - rather than sticking in my pots and pans! I had been overly generous with my squirt but the end result was loads of perfectly white fluffy bubbles. Fragrance wise, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from a combination of aloe vera and cucumber. (I do know what a cucumber smells like but not so sure about aloe vera, if I'm totally honest.) The green colour made me think this would be a herbal type of scent but it is actually quite floral and a really pleasant, feminine smell that, again, wouldn't go amiss in the bathroom rather than the kitchen sink! I can't say that I can detect any hint of cucumber in there, though.

Carrying the Fairy name, this particularly variety hasn't failed to live up to high expectations when it comes to cleaning dirty dishes. After all, the scent and any moisturising benefits are simply nice added extras - a washing up liquid has to be able to clean effectively above all else. This certainly does so although I did notice that there seemed to be more of a residue left on the dishes after washing and I had to give them a really thorough rinse.

I was particularly interested in Fairy's claims about this stuff being kind and soft on hands as I suffer with very dry sensitive skin and am prone to eczema and cracks between my fingers from time to time. When I started using this, I had some broken skin around my knuckles so I was preparing myself for some stinging and irritation after washing up but I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't experience any soreness at all. I can't say that my hands were particularly moisturised but simply not making them any more dry or sore was enough for me and was more than I've come to expect from other brands.

In all, Clean and Care actually exceeded my expectations. It produced lots of lovely, fragrant bubbles, cleaned well and didn't irritate my sensitive skin. Fairy have certainly produced another premium product here. The range isn't cheap, costing around £1.50 for a 433ml bottle, but it is actually good value for money considering its overall performance.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

I stick to the almond version.

I was absolutely content with my Fairy Almond washing-up liquid but I ran out of it and so did Tesco. Fairy washing up liquid was on offer, so I decided to try the two other ones of the clear & care series. Last time I reviewed the Silk & Orchid one so now I review the aloe vera and cucumber version.

                    First impressions
                    ------------------------
The washing up liquid comes in a transparent plastic bottle. There is 450 ml of washing up liquid in it. The Aloe Vera & Cucumber washing up liquid has light pastel green colour and it is silky. It is not transparent at all. It is very easy to open its lid and you can control the quantity you need. This washing up liquid has very nice scent. I would say that the cucumber dominate it but slightly you can feel the aloe vera as well. It is fresh as the air in spring. It is not very thick but cleans very well. I am absolutely satisfied with it. Foams well and it is easy to rinse it from the dishes.

I found that this one lasts long too. I have a dishwasher but I clean the larger dishes and cutlery myself. So this way one bottle of washing up liquid lasts 2-3 months. It was one pound when it was on offer its full price is 1.43 pounds. You can find it in most of the supermarkets.

                    My experience
                    --------------------
I used this washing up liquid for a month now and after doing the washing up my hands are still soft and moisturised although it caused me eczema on one of my fingers. For some reason one of my fingers is very sensitive. So occasionally I get sensitive to some of the washing up liquids. I found that those that contain lemon or orange cause me eczema for sure but I am still looking for the particular ingredient I am sensitive for. So I have to wear gloves on my right hand now but the left one is okay and remains soft after the washing up. Despite this eczema I like the clean and care series of Fairy. Next time I will stick to almond or orchid version.

                    Ingredients:
                    ----------------
15-30% Anionic Surfactants, 5-15% Nonionic Surfactants, Perfume, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Methylisothiazolinone, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid.

                    Further information
                    --------------------------
You can visit the manufacturer's website for washing up liquids at www.fairy-dish.com site. This product was made by Procter and Gamble in UK. There are four products available in clear & care series of Fairy at the moment: Aloe Vera and Cucumber, Almond, Silk and Orchid and Peach & Mandarin.

                    Summary
                    -------------
Although this particular type of Fairy washing up liquid caused me eczema on one of my fingers I think it is a good product which lasts long. I found that on washing up sponge it foams well and cleans my dishes very well. I am content with it. I won't buy this variation of it because of the eczema but I stick to this brand and I will definitely buy the almond or the silk and orchid version. I like its fresh scent which can be sent even a few minutes after I finished the washing up.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

Not persuaded me to leave my normal brand sadly.

Unfortunately when it comes down to my choice of washing up liquid I am more limited than some, my mother has eczema and has passed some of it down to me, my skin is very sensitive and dries out very easily so I either have to wear rubber gloves when cleaning or pick gentle washing up liquids.

I have been using Surcare (read my review) over the last year or two but my Dad recently spotted this in Tesco and brought it for me to try as not all shops offer Surcare so it can be annoying when I run out of it.

The product currently only comes in a 450ml bottle which is slightly smaller than most washing up liquid products which normally come in 500ml bottles.

The liquid itself is quite thin, it flows around the bottle easily and when you squeeze it into the washing up bowl the flow is fast so you need to ensure you only use a little or you could run out quickly.

It has a pleasant smell that reminds you of spring and fields and you can smell it even after you have finished the dishes for a short while after.

The product is endorsed by the British Skin Foundation as well.

It has worked well on my hands, I haven't had the dryness that others have given me after use but as its perfumed I am not sure how long I will be able to carry on with this before my hands get sensitive to it.

As its such a watery liquid it doesn't last long either and its also quite expensive at £1.44 for 450ml compared to 86p for Surcare which is 500ml, lasts longer for me and is unperfumed.

If your a fan of Fairy products than you will enjoy its moisturising properties but I think I will be sticking to my main brand, mainly due to cost.
