Advantages: Did a good job on my dishes, smells nice, kind to my skin
Disadvantages: Expensive if not on offer
- Why I Bought -
I usually go for the supermarkets' own brand of washing up liquid as I find brands such as Fairy to be a little over priced, having said that I do think you get good results with Fairy so perhaps it is worth paying a little extra. A few months ago I saw that Fairy 433ml bottles were on offer in Asda for £1, similar to the price I would usually pay so I decided to stock up on a few different ones. I bought the Silk & Orchid flavour simply because it was purple coloured! I noticed the label said 'with a touch of Olay softness' which sounded nice. I thought for the purpose of writing this review I would put Fairy Silk & Orchid to the test by using it to wash up a sink full of pans and dishes.
- The Packaging -
The bottle for this liquid is functional and pretty standard for washing up liquid. It is transparent so you can see how much is left in the bottle. It has a red plastic top which allows you to squirt out the amount of liquid you need and there cap to close the bottle when it's not in use.
-Using Silk & Orchid Fairy -
As the sink filled up with hot water I added a small squirt of the washing up liquid. By the time the water was covering the dishes the liquid had made the water nice and bubbly and I could clearly smell the sweet floral scent. I added another small squirt to my cloth and got scrubbing. I found that the dishes were easy to clean and any debris left on them came off easily. I was particularly impressed with the liquid when I washed up a dish that had some baked on pasta bake on it. The dish came clean very quickly and with little effort even though I hadn't left it to soak prior to washing up. I cleaned a whole sink full of dishes with a total of three small squirts so I think this liquid goes a long way. I noticed that the liquid was thick which to me indicates a quality product. After the washing up was complete I noticed that my hands were indeed very soft and smelt floral and fresh. After using this product for the last few months I haven't noticed that my hands are dry so I believe this product is kind to the skin, perhaps this is down to the 'touch of Olay softness'.
- Price and Availability -
Silk & Orchid Fairy is available in most supermarkets and currently sells for around £1.80. Personally I think this is a bit steep but it is worth looking out for when it is on offer.
- Would I Recommend? -
I would recommend this as it does perform slightly better than the supermarkets' own brands which I have used before. It did a good job on my dishes, smells nice and is kind to my skin. I think it was good value for £1 and will look out for it when it's on offer but I may still buy others rather than paying full price for Fairy.
Summary: A good quality washing up liquid but I'm not sure I would pay full price
