Fairy Platinum Lemon
Advantages: Works well, good price, smells lovely
Disadvantages: None for me
I really do believe that when you buy washing up liquid you get what you pay for - providing that you keep your eyes open for the special offers of course!
I usually use one of the varieties of Fairy, although I have sometimes been swayed by a special offer and bought one of the cheaper varieties only to find that the cleaning power isn't quite as good and that I have to use far more to achieve the same sort of results. Obviously this is then false economy.
When I was in Asda a couple of weeks ago I noticed a new Fairy (no sniggering at the back please!) at least it was new to me. It was the Fairy Platinum Lemon on sale for just £2 for 900ml. It looked like a bargain to me so I bought two of them.
The plastic bottle is a sort of creamy grey opaque colour so that you can see the level of the remaining liquid through the bottle. It has the conventional red flip top and a round label on the front telling you what the contents are. There is also a green label announcing 'built in soaking action'.
There is also a label on the back with a list of ingredients and the usual warnings about not getting the liquid in your eyes.
To use the liquid you just flip open the top, invert the bottle and squeeze. This dispenses the thick lemon liquid into the sink. Here was the first point at which I was impressed - the plastic of the bottle feels a bit stiffer than the usual bottles, thus it is more difficult to squeeze meaning that not much liquid comes out. The reason that this impressed me is simply because you really do only need a very small amount of this liquid to get the best results and this stops you dispensing more than you actually need. I know I usually tend to put a good squirt of washing up liquid in the bowl whether I really need it or not and this helps me not to do that.
Of course this also means that it lasts longer and so is more economical.
The liquid is thick and yellow in colour with a lovely lemony scent. A small amount creates a nice rich lather which cleans all the washing up leaving a nice clean shine on everything.
If I have anything that is very greasy or where food has been burnt on I let them soak for about ten minutes and then they come out bright and clean with the minimum of effort on my part - an excellent result indeed.
I find that, even if I have a lot of washing up, I don't need to add more washing up liquid as I have done in the past with lesser brands. The lather and the power of the grease busting liquid remains for the length of the washing up.
In conclusion I would definitely recommend this liquid - the price is good, it works very well, it smells lovely and even the packaging looks smart - there's is nothing else that I could ask from a washing up liquid!
