Advantages: Reasonably priced, nice scent but not too powerful for plates, effective cleaning
Disadvantages: None per se for me
When it comes to doing washing up I tend to stick to Fairy because it's a brand I trust and find to be effective. Even though I don't usually go for scenty style liquids on my dishes, I actually really like this one!
Fairy is a P&G brand that's very popular and reputable, and since starting out 50 years ago as of 2012, its range of products has vastly increased. Rather than just Fairy Original in the opaque white bottle, other ranges up for offer include 'Richer Fairy Original', 'Antibacterial Action', 'Clean and Care' and 'Scent Scent-Sensations'. There are now various sizes, colours, scents etc to choose from to suit your wants and needs.
I decided to try the pomegranate and honeysuckle one primarily because of the lovely colour; I'm a sucker when it comes to pretty looking things and even though I don't usually go for scented products when washing up, I'd used a scented Fairy liquid previously and really liked it. This comes in a contoured clear plastic bottle with a red flip-up lip, and the Fairy logo is clearly visible on the front label. It looks neat, attractive, easy to use and also of good quality.
The scent is a sweet, but not sickly so, of fruity pomegranate and honeysuckle. I actually really like the smell and it makes it a pleasure to use. The liquid is kinder to skin than other brands so I don't find it as harsh on my hands afterwards in terms of irritating or drying out my skin. As for its cleaning properties, this works well on various items of washing up, stains and stubborn remnants of baked on foods or grease. I find that only small amounts need to be used each time for most things, though it depends on how you use it. For most washing up when I've got a bowl full of it (sigh) I'll use a bit in the water, for one or two things just a small drop or two directly on to the item does the trick. Tougher stains etc may require a bit more, but overall, I find it to be good value for money in terms of how many washes it manages and how effective it is.
All in all this is definitely one I would recommend for being reasonably priced, effective and pleasant to use. And every little helps when it comes to washing up.
450ml retails for around £1 (Tesco, Poundand) / 650ml £1.80 (Tesco)
