When we ran out of washing up liquid recently, I entrusted the role of buying a new bottle to my husband. Whilst we occasionally buy a supermarket branded product I do like to buy Fairy the most often, given that I usually find it has longer staying power and that you use less per wash when compared to cheaper alternatives. Had I been doing the shopping I would have picked a washing up liquid that matched my kitchen colour scheme, however my husband opted for the Fairy Pomegranate and Honeysuckle bottle.

The Product

This washing up liquid comes packaged in a translucent plastic bottle which houses 450ml of washing up liquid (or 740ml if you opt for the larger bottle). Inside the liquid is bright red in colour which is complemented by the red flip top lid on the top of the bottle. The standard Fairy logo sticker is printed on the front of the bottle whist a red pomegranate indicates the ingredients within.

Upon flipping open the lid it was the smell of this washing up liquid that really appealed to me. The fruity fragrance of the pomegranate combined with the sweet honeysuckle means that this liquid smells divine and has to be, in my opinion, one of the nicest of the fragrances that Fairy produce.

This washing up liquid is part of the 'Fairy Aromatics' range that claims to give freshness at the sink, allow the user to enjoy their favourite scents whilst washing up and to indulge your sense of smell, all whilst providing the great washing up cleaning that you would expect from Fairy.

Price and Availability

Our bottle was purchased at our local Wilkinsons and we paid just £1 for it as part of a deal, however I have seen this product in my local supermarket retailing for around £1.40. Considering the duration of time that it lasts I consider this to be a minor investment.

Use

As with all washing up liquids I simply add a squirt of this product to my sink whilst running the hot tap. I find that a small amount of this washing up liquid goes a long way and that only a small pea sized amount is enough to create thick foam in my sink.

My Experience

Whilst initially sceptical of the very bright colour of this liquid I have been continually impressed by its cleaning power and sweet fragrance. First off the smell of this washing up liquid is sweet and fruity and helps to freshen up the smell of my kitchen having cooked a meal in the evening. The smell is strong enough to assist in masking the stale food odours that can dwell after cooking yet it remains fresh and summery, making it perfect now that the summer has really started. Secondly, the cleaning power of this liquid is as good as any of the other Fairy products I have used. The foam cuts through the grease on my dishes and for tougher stains I simply leave the offending article to soak for a few minutes before scrubbing and have no problem with ingrained food. Thirdly, this washing up liquid does not dry out my hands as other products can do and simply leaves my skin feeling and smelling fresh. Finally, this liquid has great staying power and a little goes a long way. Hence why I have been using my bottle daily for three weeks and am less than a quarter down.

Although I wasn't too sure on the colour of this liquid at first, I now find that the jewel red is a nice pop of colour on my kitchen window sill.

This is a great washing up liquid and one that I highly recommend. I will therefore be scoring it five stars based on my comments above.
