“ Brand: Fairy / Type: Washing Up Liquid / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
Over the last 8 weeks I have been a bit disorganised as I have had a temporary job. This has resulted in me rushing around in my breaks to get any shopping that I needed mostly from the cut price shop just round the corner. I generally always try to buy Fairy Washing up liquid and after using a useless cheap and cheerful brand hunted around to find my favourite. The only one I could find was Fairy Sensitive with chamomile and Vitamin E which was new to me and I paid 1.25pounds for 500ml.
The packaging and product.
Fairy Sensitive comes in a frosted opaque bottle through which you can see the pale yellow washing up liquid. The bottle is nicely shaped to make it easily to grip with wet hand and has the traditional red , click on and off top.
On the front label, above the Fairy logo are some chamomile flowers and a dermatological tested logo.A swirl of yellow takes us down to a nicely moisturised hand which is not red and a bit bashed through hard work like mine.
On the reverse are the ingredients and instructions for use which in the case of my bottle appear to be in Polish and Romanian, (I think!) but I shall assume we all know how to squirt it into a bowl of hot water. As ever keep it out of the range of children and if you get it in your yes wash them well.A small drawing of hands with "Mild to hands" also appears on the back above the www.sustainable cleaning.com logo.
The liquid has a slightly strange perfume, I drink chamomile tea a lot and it is vaguely like this a bit flowery and non decrepit. The liquid is a pale yellow and froths up well in the bowl with the normal Fairy good cleaning properties, tough on grease and left over food. It also lasts much longer than other brands and I will always pay a little more for Fairy but this version was not a hit with me. If I get neat washing up liquid on my hands it does irritate but I have never had a reaction to a washing up liquid when diluted. I did not notice any improvement in my hand after a couple of weeks of use.
Fairy do so many nice scents that fill your kitchen with lovely aromas that I did find this very insipid, nearly said wishy washy, and I think Fairy have taken a wrong turn with this. Good washing qualities but it does not compare with the latest Fairy Platinum which I will be reviewing shortly. If you have sensitive hands, wear a pair of rubber gloves and buy a nice smelling version!
3 out of 5 stars from me.
Thanks for reading my review, I also post on Ciao under splishsplash.
I have never been one to scrimp on washing up liquid, I have washed dishes using cheap brands in the past and in my opinion nothing comes close to Fairy washing up liquid. This is the stuff I grew up on, the advert still ringing in my head "Now hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face, with mild green Fairy Liquid", doesn't seem relevant now does it? Not with such a vast array of colours and fragrances out there. Anyway, I was in Iceland doing a small grocery shop on a limited budget, when I saw a bottle of Fairy Sensitive Chamomile & Vit E washing up liquid...low and behold! A washing up liquid with added vitamins! Whatever next? It was only £1.00, and there was a larger slightly more expensive ordinary bottle of Fairy, but being of limited means and curious about the vitamin induced washing up liquid, I opted to buy it.

I bought this from my local Iceland for the princely sum of £1.00, I haven't seen it anywhere else, but I have heard you can get it in Poundland (I'll let you lot work out how much it will cost in there ;))
== Verdict ==
Although I don't have sensitive skin, I have noticed that after washing my dishes in this stuff that my hands feel softer, don't know if that's a good thing for a man, but I prefer to have soft silky smooth hands than rough callus ridden ones. Now, I don't know what Chamomile is, but I absolutely love this fragrance, it smells a little bit lemony. I haven't noticed any difference in the cleanliness of my dishes, it seems to work just like all the other Fairy range and if this is only on offer and they increase the price I wouldn't buy it again, I would just buy another type of Fairy instead. Also, I have no idea what the vitamin E is supposed to do, is it supposed to make you feel better about washing dishes? Or is it just a gimmicky advertising ploy?
I'm reviewing FAIRY Sensitive with chamomile and vit E .
It cost me £1 in POUNDWORLD, and the white plastic bottle contains 500ml.
I picked this up during a shopping trip to POUNDWORLD.
FAIRY is my washing up liquid of choice and never lets me down for quality ,so I felt totally confident throwing a bottle of this new one into my basket.
As soon as I squirted some into the washing up bowl and it reacted with the hot water I knew this was not going to be what I thought.
The first thing that hits you is the overpowering smell, vaguely redolent of floral disinfectant. Soft and sweet and very pleasant on the nose, but floral disinfectant none the less.
That is a pet hate of mine , perfumed hand washes and washing up liquids in the kitchen......I just don't want my dishes washed in something so powerfully fragranced. Yes ,I rinse them, but the aroma is still in my nose and I imagine it still on the dishes. I had to empty the washing up bowl and rinse and refill it , and luckily I had a small amount of my normal Lemon FAIRY left to use.
So this is not for me,and has been relegated to under the sink for use in washing grubby things where the floral smell matters not.
I just don't see why floral smells and vitamins need added to a washing up liquid .
I understand that it's nice to have a pleasant smell from the washing up, but it ought to be food or fruit based and all else is just wrong for me.
I won't be buying this again, but in fairness to FAIRY it is up to their usual high cleaning standards when I use it to wash out the pet beds and blankets, or clean grooming brushes and paint brushes. Just a little FAIRY goes further than lashings of cheap brands and the things smell nice for ages.
I really can't recommend this unless you like perfumed dish water,so I'm only giving it 3 stars and those are for it's great cleaning power only.
In my utility room I do have a separate sink area which of course comes in incredibly useful especially with have the dogs as I can wash up their bowls (including the cats bowls too) as well as any of their cutlery and scales (I weigh their food) as I wouldn't want to really use the same sink/bowl as I do my usual cutlery/plates/glasses etc. When it comes to using a washing up liquid in my utility room I am not overly fussy as it lives in the cupboard underneath the sink but a brand bargain is always nice!
My current washing up liquid in use in the utility is the Fairy Sensitive Chamomile & Vitamin E Washing Up Liquid which as far as I am aware is only available in discount stores as it isn't available in supermarkets. I bought a few bottles at my local B&M Home Stores at a bargain price of 99p for a 500ml bottle which I thought was definitely good value considering it is a named brand.
Fairy Sensitive Chamomile & Vitamin E Washing Up Liquid comes in a semi-transparent almost cream coloured plastic bottle in the usual Fairy shape. It features the Fairy logo on the front together with the product name and on the back label there is further information about the product as well as the long list of ingredients, warnings and contact information should you need it. The liquid itself is clear in colour with a slight yellow hue to it and has a very gentle fragrance.
Apparently Fairy Sensitive Chamomile & Vitamin E Washing Up Liquid "cuts through grease better than any other washing up liquid". Now for me this washing up liquid isn't going to be used on greasy, overly dirty items but I do find Fairy washing up liquids can tackle the grease and grime well so I don't doubt it's effectiveness. For me, I do find it effective in getting through dried on food quite easily.
I do find it lathers up quite well and provides those white frothy bubbles which I expect from a Fairy washing up liquid. It manages to clean the items I use it on well without any problems at all. I do find however that some of the harder, dried on foods (mainly from the cat food) needs to soak for a few minutes and with the help of a scourer they come off without a problem. Once rinsed the items all look nice and clean and ready to be used again.
Being classed as a sensitive item with the help of Chamomile I have used it without using washing up gloves and I have found it gentle on the skin, I can have sensitive skin especially on my hands but this hasn't effected my skin whatsoever which is obviously a plus. It hasn't dried my skin or caused any irritation so I would definitely recommend it to those that do suffer with sensitive skin.
I may not used this washing up liquid on a daily basis (probably 3 times a week) but when I have I have consistency had good results which leave me with clean items. Once rinsed there is no residue left behind or watermarks. I wouldn't hesitate using this as my main washing up liquid as it does the job and the results are great. Even better at a bargain price! A definite recommendation for me - 5 stars easily.
