I am possibly the untidiest, foulest person the world has ever been unfortunate enough to be burdened with and have stress-tested this product in more extreme ways than Top Gear could ever imagine.

Living in University halls means I have a very small space in which to conduct all my affairs and keep my possessions. I eat, sleep, work and play in my room and I need to be able to convert it from a messy, smelly student hovel into a respectable entertaining space in the time it takes a girl to walk the 5 flights of stairs to get into my room.

Fortunately I can cram the majority of my belongings under my bed, however the pungent aroma of weeks of hedonistic living is harder to remove. Febreze provided me with the perfect solution. I keep two bottles of the stuff on my shelf (1 live, 1 reserve) and give my room a thorough spray - concentrating on fabrics that tend to retain odours. It works every time.

It has removed the smells of stale food, smoke, sweat and others too disgusting to mention on this family website. Its strength and persistence conjure up in my mind images of swarms of locusts as they swathe a field corn, devouring odours like the locusts devour their crops.

In terms of price it is worth every penny. They could double the price and it would still be good value. My advice would be to combine it with an Airwick plug-in air freshener to provide a nicer smell once the initial odours have been tackled by the Febreze.

Only a fool wouldn't keep one of these for emergencies.
