Febreze Thai Orchid Fabric Refresher
Advantages: Fragrance is nice
Disadvantages: Doesn't work
I have mentioned previously in some of my reviews (on cleaning products) that I can't stand my house smelling of any odours. I have dogs and cats and of course with them comes natural odours which I do keep on top of. However, in order for me to do this I do tend to go overboard with various cleaning products, air freshners, plug ins - you name it I've probably tried and it and use it! Therefore, I have a tendency when a product is on offer which I think will help keep my house smelling fresh I tend to buy it. Now some products I have found to be a complete waste of time yet others I will buy repeatedly as they give great results.
A product I tend to buy quite often although I will only buy it if on offer is a Febreze Fabric Refresher. Febreze is a brand known for its odour killing products and they have a variety of different products but I do honestly think that for the full price tag they carry I do think it is a tad expensive as you can probably make your own scented water for less the cost. However, when on offer at just £1 for a 500ml bottle I can't seem to resist. Currently in use is the Febreze Fabric Refresher in Thai orchid. I opted for it apart from the bargain price but also the smell of orchids took my vote over the other varieties available.
The whole idea behind the Febreze Fabric Refreshers is to refresh fabrics whether curtains, bed linen, sofas etc and to give them a gentle aroma and in essence making them 'fresh' again. I think they are a product which can be a little debatable as to whether they work or not but I have used them throughout the last few years and have never become firm of a decision whether they do or don't work. I tend to use them more for the fact that I feel better by using them as I think the items that I use it on is actually going to smell fresher but I do only buy when on offer as I do think for £1 there is no harm is using it with the hope that the lovely scents that they come in will actually linger around!
What Febreze say "Zen is peace and enlightenment, so leave behind the chaos of odours and attain the space of true freshness."
The Thai Orchid variety comes in a bright pink opaque plastic bottle with a trigger spray. There is no doubt that you can't miss this on the shelf next to the pale blue bottles that some of the other varieties come in. On the front of the bottle it features the Febreze logo together with an image of an orchid with the product name. On the back there is instructions on how to use it, what the spray can be used on as well as warnings, list of the ingredients used as well as contact information for Febreze. The packaging is pretty standard and nothing special but it does stand out and is noticeable amongst other similar products. The bottle has a trigger spray which when the handle is pressed inwards out comes a fine mist.
If you have never used a Febreze Fabric Refresher then it may be worth reading the instructions on the back of the bottle as not all fabrics should be sprayed with it. But as I have used it before I was fine about using it on my sofas which is where I mainly use it as well as my curtains in my lounge, dining room and office. The product is incredibly simple to use as you simply point the trigger nozzle on the area you want to 'refresh' and then just spray away. Don't hold it too close to the specified area as you want a fine mist not a concentrated jet of spray so hold it at least 30cm away from your chosen area.
The liquid itself is clear in colour and obviously when it is sprayed out of the bottle it is clear and in a fine mist. Despite having a "delicate fragrance of fresh Thai orchids" I have to admit that I couldn't smell orchids whatsoever but instead a still very pleasant aroma of more a generic floral note which for me is absolutely fine as it isn't overpowering but nice and actually quite a fresh scent. Once the mist has landed on the specific area it doesn't take long for it to be absorbed and to disappear so after a few minutes you can't actually see where you'd spray the fabric refresher but if you feel the area you will feel that it is slightly damp but again it doesn't take long for the area to dry completely provided you haven't been too trigger happy and made the whole area quite wet!
Now although it doesn't have the scent of Thai orchids it does have a lovely aroma which can and does linger for quite a while after its use which is nice but don't expect it to last for long as it does quickly disappear which is a shame but half expected. Despite using this on a daily basis for a month now in the same places it doesn't build up a fragrance whatsoever which I thought it might with continual use but unfortunately it doesn't. I think it would be far cheaper making your own fragranced water as despite its lovely, initially fragrant aroma it doesn't last at all and not something that has impressed me nor does it relax me and leaving me with a peaceful zen like state or mind.
Overall, a product which I am happy that I didn't pay full price for! Definitely something I thought would provide a fresh aroma after continuous use but it just doesn't. Using it daily will also make the contents of the bottle disappear quickly making it quite an expensive fabric refresher which doesn't really work effectively. A nice initial aroma but one that just doesn't last and to be quite honest a complete waste of money. Definitely not a recommendation from me and I won't be buying it again.
