Using dishwashers can be an absolute godsend for saving time particularly in the morning when lets face it and this applies to my own family in particular when everyone is always rushing about to get organised. It is nice then just to put the breakfast dishes in the machine pop it on and empty it when we come home later on that day. My dishwasher tends to get put through its paces on a daily basis so its no wonder then that after such abuse it needs a bit of tlc from time to time. To look after it effectively I tend to use finish dishwasher cleaner the fusion power version of the product. This item can be purchased in most supermarkets and costs around the £2 mark for a 250ml bottle. Please note however that one bottle equals one wash however I only ever do this job once or twice a year so I tend to not grudge paying the money too much. Put it this way getting a new dishwasher would be costly if its not cared for. The bottle is quite compact it is a see through plastic container with a screwtop lid the liquid inside is bright blue. Be warned that this product sports the irritant logo prominently on the packaging so be advised that it may not be suitable for use by everyone. The purpose of the product is to eliminate grease and limescale from your appliance. Over time grease and limescale can build up in your dishwasher. Finish fusion power apparently has two layers which can be seen when you hold the product up to the light a bright blue top layer and a transparent white bottom layer. I think I must have been using this over the years with my eyes closed as I had only ever noticed the blue colour. Anyway I digress the blue layer is responsible for eliminating grease while the white liquid limescale. You learn something new everyday. Using this product will effectively clean your dishwasher and hence a cleaner washer means cleaner dishes. My particular washer is made by Bosch and the manufacturers recommend that the product is suitable not only for this machine however they also endorse Canon, Rex, Ariston, Miele and Indesit machines. Unfortunately I cant tell you what the product smells like directly because I am not partial to sniffing irritants, actually I think that there is a law against such things however I will say that after use it reminds me of fairy liquid so hope that helps!!!! To use the product you don't actually unscrew the cap. On top of the product is a little foil sticker which you pull back a bit like opening a carton of orange juice. This allows the product to ooze slowly from the bottle. Ensure that the dishwasher is empty, remove the sticker and place the bottle upside down in the cutlery basket of your dishwasher. Then put your washer on a 65 degree cycle don't add any of your usual detergent while doing this. Now I'm supposed to say does it work well yes actually it does. The washer smells fresher and the metal contained within is indeed a lot shinier and there is no greasy residue left behind after using the product. However it doesn't gleam as much as the adverts would have you believe. Overall my dishes remain clean and I put it down to using this little gem. I would rather buy this than have to replace my machine due to it breaking down due to erosion. Worth a try expensive however overall effective. Easy to use with very little effort involved. Definitely eliminates grease and limescale. www.finishinfo.com
I'd never used a dishwasher until we moved to our present home a few years ago where there was one in our lovely kitchen. As it's fairly old & there were no directions on how to use it I was a bit apprehensive until my friend came & sorted me out! I now use it at least once a day & despite it's age it does a pretty good job. I have noticed, on several occasions though that the dishes, glasses & cutlery have come out with bits or smears on them & blamed the age of the machine. My daughter saw an ad on TV for Finish dishwasher cleanser which she insisted we buy & I can honestly say it made a real difference. I thought that dishwashers looked after themselves as their job is to clean & it always smells nice when a cycle has finished. It wasn't until I used the Finish that I realised that the grease, limescale & dirt can build up over time & needs sorting in order for it to do it's job well. At £6.99 for 2 x 250ml bottles it doesn't come cheap as 1 bottle is one wash but the effects were so good that I'll buy it again but not use it every month as suggested unless I can find a very good offer. Each bottle is clearly labelled with both diagrams & words on how to use the product & it's so simple it's silly - just unscrew the top, turn upside-down in the cutlery compartment & switch the machine on at it's hottest setting - job done! It smells really fresh although quite strong in the bottle but when used in the dishwasher it's more subtle. The machine was so clean after using this product it almost shone & the build up of limescale & grease must have been removed as I noticed a considerable difference in the efficiency of the dishwasher. There were no bits, grease or smears after using it & each item was thoroughly cleaned. summary ~ - really easy to use. - smells lovely. - does seem, as it claims, to remove buid up of grease & limescale. - expensive but does the job in my opinion. - will be buying more even though it's pricey.
