“ Brand: Flash / Type: All Purpose Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
Being on an economy drive at the moment because Christmas is a coming and I have far too much left still to buy (talk about being disorganised!) I have been keeping my eyes open for bargains and for the most part I have been sticking to buying stuff that is stores own and so on however I do like to have a browse in discount stores such as Poundland and B & M and the likes and I bought this a couple of weeks ago in my local pound shop for just...yep a pound and I thought that was a great price for such a well known brand and for such a large size.
This comes in a see-through but slightly frosted large bottle that has a sturdy integrated handle to one side of it and to the top of it there is a light blue twist on/off cap to the top of it and under that there is a large hole. On the front of the bottle there is a blue and white label and on that we are told that it is Flash Clean & Shine 'Crisp Lemons' All - Purpose Cleaner and that it is a P & G product, that it is 1L in size and there is a little picture of a shiny clean floor shown and a lemon and then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, warnings are given, the ingredients are stated and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly listed. Its a nice enough bottle, robust and informative enough this one.
The All Purpose Cleaner:
Bright yellow and runny like water, its transparent and it has a wonderful fresh aroma of lemons to it that I really like and think of as a really fresh and clean scent. You can dilute this to use it on floors and tiles and the likes or you can use it neat if you prefer or feel the need to. We are not told on the labelling where we can and can't use it however I simply don't use it on fabrics, windows or glass.
I use this all over my home really. I use this to clean my floors, tiles, my sinks, toilet, bath, worktops, hob, skirting boards... any of my sealed wood surfaces seems fine with this and it really does pick up grease, grime, dirt and dust really well leaving where I have cleaned really looking and feeling clean. My biggest problem area to clean is always my hob and this makes quick work of cleaning that brilliantly and usually with other cleaners when I clean my floor with a diluted solution of what ever it is I have to then get on my hands and knees and rub over certain areas but with this it just cleans effectively with little effort required from me. Another place I mess up all the time is my bath which gets caked in soap scum and the likes again a quick wipe over with this and its left clean as a whistle!
This leaves my home looking and feeling clean and the scent of this lingers in my home for a good couple of hours afterwards and me, well I think this is a really brilliant cleaning product!
Available from all good supermarkets etc.
Since purchasing my first home many years ago I have been fanatical about cleaning and whilst I do not suffer with OCD, everything has to be gleaming. Whilst there are products available for each and every task, I prefer to use a multi-purpose cleaner, as I really see no point in a separate one for the bathroom, kitchen, etc. My brand of choice for the past few years is Flash despite the price tag being a little higher than other brands. My favourite of all times is their Cotton Fresh due to its stunning aroma, which lingers for hours after use. However, a few months ago whilst carrying out a Tesco shop, my husband purchased Flash Clean and Shine with its Crisp Lemon aroma.
The vivid yellow cleaner is provided in a 1 litre sturdy opaque plastic bottle with an easy to grip handle and a deep screw top cap although I am surprised that Flash has not opted to use a child lock, particularly as the cap is easily unscrewed. The claim is that the all-purpose cleaner will produce a brilliant clean with half the effort.
The product offers a liquid consistency although not as runny as some of the cheaper brands and can be used in two ways; diluted using 2 capfuls for each 5 litres of water and I favour the fact that it does not need to be rinsed from surfaces or floors after using. It is highly effective at cleaning the glossy tiles on my bathroom floor, which due to being black they show every dust particle, which can give them a shabby appearance. However, a quick wipe over with Flash restores them to their former glory together with their sparkling glossy shine.
Whilst the crisp lemon aroma is initially very intense, particularly in its undiluted format, I was disappointed that it significantly weakens when added to water. One of the reasons that I love using Flash Cotton Fresh is that the gorgeous fresh aroma lingers for several hours after I have cleaned, but sadly Crisp Lemon does not step up to the mark. When pouring the liquid into the cap I experienced no problems, but it pours a little too freely when I attempted to use it neat, particularly as I prefer to apply it to the surfaces and leave for a few minutes before wiping. Consequently, I decanted the contents into a bottle fitted with a trigger spray, which enables an easier and more manageable application.
The worst area for gathering grime is the bath tub due to my use of beauty products and cleaning them away is effortless, as after a few minutes of being coated with this liquid, they easily lift away with a cloth. When used in a neat format, the cleaning solution needs to be rinsed away, which literally takes seconds when I am left with a smooth and grime free surface with a beautiful just cleaned shine. Again, the lemon aroma doesn't linger, which is disappointing especially as the zingy refreshing scent of lemons is uplifting and reminds me that I have just cleaned my home.
Despite my grumble with the lack of aroma, in terms of its cleaning abilities, Flash Clean and Shine most certainly makes light of hard work and had the lemon scent lingered it would have received a five star rating. Whilst the product is more expensive than some of its competitors I feel it is well worth the money with a 1 litre bottle currently costing £2.30 at Tesco. However, I always stock up when there are special offers.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
I have to be very careful with the cleaning materials I use due to having asthma. I totally acknowledge the cleaning power of bleach, but the fumes do tend to make my airways twitch. I am awe of the limescale bashing abililities of Viakal but owing to the strong smell can only use it with all the windows open - which has been somewhat problematic this year. And last but by no means least, one whiff of lavender will give me an asthma attack.
Fortunately, I love the scent of lemon and it has happy diplomatic relations with my fussy lungs.
Which all brings us to this cleaning spray. This is an all purpose cleaning spray which can be used in the kitchen and bathroom as well as on other items to be cleaned.
I have used this in the kitchen to clean the sink, counter tops and the outside of the cooker. It does not do the same job on limescale that Viakal does, however, this is London Limescale we are talking about here and it does beat most cleaning fluids. It does do a great job of cleaning grime and grease, however. It also cleaned off burnt on food from the hob and oven door, even if it did take a couple of sprays and some elbow grease. Counter tops, it manages easily.
The situation is the same in the bathroom. Limescale on the tap, sink plug or drainer - cue Viakal or Cilit Bang. Grubby bath or toothpaste splattered sink - no worries. It also cleans the porcelein of the loo top and the seat itself very well and adds a very pleasant scent.
The scent is stated to be crisp lemon and that is just how it smells. It is pleasant lemon clean without the cloying some lemon scented products can fall into.
As it is not the toughest cleaning spray on the market this is a good thing as some jobs will take more than one or two blasts.
The squirting mechanism is the usual twist and pull the trigger. The spray's blast area is very reasonable and makes cleaning a doddle. As someone with poor eyesight I could do with the open/off indication having a better colour contrast, but this is, unfortunately, a common problem with spray mechanisms.
I have disassembled a portable washing machine I have and which had been shamefully neglected on the cleaning front. This spray cleaned it up beautifully and now it shines again.
The liquid rinses away without leaving an unpleasant residue. Just clean sinks, draining boards, baths and sinks.
All for £1.50 from Sainsbury's for a 500ml bottle, or £2.00 for a 700ml one at Tesco.
Great value for a very pleasantly scented good little cleaning spray which has not caused my asthma any problems.
A bit of a lemon?
I don't often like lemon scented cleaning products as I find the smell can be a bit cloying and unnatural at times. But I decided to give this one a go as it was just £1 and I was after something that I could use in the kitchen - but also elsewhere around the house if needed.
This comes in a simple trigger spray bottle with a basic blue and yellow label, and you can see the yellow cleaning liquid inside. It's suitable for all rooms and is designed to be quick and easy to use.
I have used this mainly on my kitchen worktops. You simply spray this on, leaving for a minute or two if necessary and wiping off. And this works a treat! It gives my worktops a good clean, lifting off any spills or stains as it goes. I find it works really well at these simple cleaning tasks and it definitely is really quick to use - in fact if my worktops aren't particularly grubby I'll just spray and wipe off pretty much straight away. The only slight downside for me is that it doesn't leave surfaces quite as shiny as other kitchen cleaners I've used, but this isn't something that bothers me too much!
I have also used this spray on my hobs and on the kitchen floor to clean up the odd spill or mark, and again in terms of cleaning ability I really have no complaints at all about the quality of this product.
And the scent?
So what of the lemon smell? Well for me the fragrance has been a pleasant surprise. As mentioned I don't usually like lemon scented products, but this one is actually really nice. It is much fresher smelling than other lemon scented kitchen cleaners I've tried, and it's a bit more subtle without that chemical undertone I find cleaners often have. It's actually a pleasant fragrance and for me this makes this product a lot nicer to use!
Great for the price
For £1 I find it difficult to fault this cleaner. I am going to take off a star as I find it doesn't shine surfaces as well as other cleaners, but really I am being a bit mean as this is an excellent cleaning product and I highly recommend it.
