Harpic Hygienic Toilet Block
Advantages: easy to place
Disadvantages: waste of money
Over the past few years with the recession we have had to try to cut back on some of the luxuries that we had at work, as we were only a small office this meant the cleaner was one if the first things to go. We all agreed that we would all contribute to the cleaning and as am the office manager it was down to me to purchase the cleaning products to be used.
There are so many different products on the market that I am always just purchasing what is on special offer and this is when one of the products that I purchased one day was from Harpic and it was the toilet block which came in purple, which was the lavender fragrance. It is meant to help keep the toilet clean above and below the waterline. Which I thought would be great as the toilet would be being cleaned with every flush and not just when we had the time.
This normally retails in the shops in a twin pack and they cost around £1.85, but as I said I always look for the bargains and purchased these when they were on special for £1.00, which meant 50 pence each.
The Harpic Toilet Block I thought would be great as they have a plastic hook so that it can be placed in the toilet and hooked over the edge. There is no cage encasing the block, which means that there is no mess and germs that grow around the cage. It is clipped on the edge with ease where the water flow is at its maximum and binned when they are all gone.
When using the block take extra precaution as with all cleaning products as they still contain chemicals and still need to be kept in a cool dry place and away from children.
As the Block is hung around the top of the toilet this means that the toilet is kept clean above the waterline as the block is diluted around the rim and into the toilet with every flush of the toilet. It is more hygienic as it is constantly working to keep your toilet clean, hygienic and fresh. The pack claims that it can last for up to 1000 washes.
Our blocks do seem to last for a long period of time, but I cannot see the block making any improvements to the toilet nor can I smell the lavender scent so I am a little sceptical on if these are worth purchasing as I cannot see a change as we use them. They also start to look a little worse for wear before they have all dissolved as they last so long, so I ended up binning it before it had finished.
I will next time stick to the loo blocks that are placed into the toilet system and they change the water colour and work with every flush, as they are noticeable you know that they are working and they is a fragrance in the air, I cannot say that these are worth the usual £1.85 price tag.
