Bloo Powercore has proved to be a rather disappointing cistern cleaning block for me personally. It costs a lot more than my Tesco ones and it is a brand name so I was actually expecting more than this product was able to deliver.
I bought a pack of two Bloo Blocks for £1.05 from Tesco and the idea is that you place one of them into your cistern and then wait for AT LEAST ten minutes before you flush the loo. I did wait and it got quite a good foam and the toilet water turned a lovely shade of blue.
I was a bit disappointed in the lack of smell however, as there did not seem to be much of a smell of anything at all which seemed a bit odd.
The idea of the Bloo Powerball is that it actually has two purposes. The outer bit is meant to remove the limescale and turn the water blue and the powerball bit in the middle is meant to remove the limescale and actually clean the toilet bowl. To me, they looked very similar to large dishwasher tablets, only round and not square.
They are meant to last about three weeks according to the packet but in all honesty I think they lasted about a week, if that, as the water stopped turning blue very quickly and the instructions say that is when you are meant to change the block.
Not really a product I could recommend as i was diappointed in the results, the water colour and the smell, and for the price I did expect something better.

I developed a bit of an obsession with clean toilets when I was pregnant dues to the fact I was sick about three times a day for nine months .I would actually ask friends to clean their toilets before I Would visit them. Despite my son been three and a half now I still am very concerned about toilet cleanliness. I spotted the Jeyes Bloo Power core in Wilkinson's in the reduced shelf and it was reduced from £1.89 to 94p. This pack contains two system blocks.
The packaging advertises that it is 100% prevention of lime scale and deepest clean with the thickest foam for up to three weeks. The block comes in two sections an outer ring which is designed for the lime scale removal, to colour the water blue and freshen the water. The Powerball which is in the centre is supposed to be for concentrated cleaning, foaming action and stain removal.
The bloo block is like other loo blocks and simply placed in the toilet system at the opposite end of the water inlet. You are advised to wait at least ten minutes before flushing. Once flushed it does indeed turn the toilet water blue and does have thick foam which make it appear someone has poured bubble bath in the toilet bowl. It doesn't have a particularly strong aroma but I was initially satisfied .I did find this foam was actually a huge problem as it prevents you been able to physically see the bottom of the toilet bowl so it is actually impossible to see how clean the toilet is. I was left feeling that this block was simply masking the need to clean. The sides of the toilet bowl were however quite shiny.
I was completely disappointed that this product seemed to lose its power and after a week it had no foam action and the blue colour was starting to appear to fade. And was becoming wishy washy. The packaging does suggest that this should be replaced as soon as the blue begins to fade. While my toilet doesn't seem to have suffered I have found I am spending extra time cleaning the toilet aimlessly.
Storage is like all bathrooms cleaning equipment that can cause skin irritant or serious damage to the eyes if it comes into contact with the Chemicals. Reading this had made me a little concerned if my son is sick as he does put his head right into the toilet and I have concerns he may splash water in his eyes.
This is not a product I can recommend and will not be purchasing again even if it is on offer.
I love it when your at home and you flush the loo and the water is a lovely fresh blue colour with a fresh look and fragrance! I have tried cheaper own supermarket brands of cistern blocks and they only lasted a few days and you start to see chunks of it coming through the toilet but I have never experienced this problem with the Bloo brand and even though it says it lastes up to 4 weeks the last one I put in lasted 7 weeks!
They come in a pack of 2 and are normally a bit more expensive than the other brands but as they last longer you will be saving money not having to buy anymore! They have 100% limescale prevention which I have not had any yet! They are so easy to use, you simply take one out of the packet and put it into you cistern and leave for ten minutes to start dissolving and when you use the loo next you will be pleasantly surprised! I think it looks hygienic and is a great way of keeping your toilet fresh with every flush!
Limescale and high toilet use is a right problem for me, Power Core solved that.
I've gone through numerous toilet products to keep my toilet clean (Including the Duck Fresh Discs I just reviewed) as no-one likes a dirty toilet.
Anyway, I was reading about these one night on the Bloo site in a hunt for something to clean really well right around the toilet. Seemed promising I thought.
Next day at the shops I picked them up for around £2, they are more expensive then the usual in-cistern block but they are worth it. The packaging is blue at the bottom, with pink at the top with a white foamy swirl to it, with the Bloo logo and Powercore written on.
The blocks are blue around the outside, with a red "core" to them. The blue freshens, blues the water and prevents limescale apparently, while the core cleans and foams.
I dropped one into both of my toilets and left it. Went back later and flushed, the water was a deep blue and there was quite a lot of foam in the bowl, it also left the toilet bowl sparkling clean. The downstairs was the same.
Although these don't fragrance, they are much better than I have used before, I've never really noticed fragrancing from those ones saying they do. I usually use a rimblock to get a nice fragrance to the loo.
The life of the block wasn't really as good as I expected, it seems to dissolve faster and last around 2 1/2 to 3 weeks, but I guess the more it's flushed the quicker it will dissolve.
Overall, for the slightly higher price, I'll happily use these again and will stock up on any offers.
I have been trying various products lately to try and get rid of some limescale in my toilet. Now, I am a very clean person and am always cleaning my bathroom but despite using products that claim to prevent limescale build up, I have ended up with a pesky bit at the bottom of my toilet. Not very nice. So I went in search of a product to try and get rid of it. Thankfully I found one (not this particular item) and saw these at the same time, which again claim to prevent 100% of limescale build up. Having tried everything under the sun in the past, I thought it was worth a go.
I bought my power core blocks from my local home bargains and paid around £1 (one block with one free) but if you aren't lucky enough to have one of these stores nearby, you can pick a twin pack up from Wilkos for £1.89. The blocks are blue in colour with a red inner, which is the "power core". I'm not sure what they smell of, but would descibe it as a citrus, fresh smell. Perfect for the bathroom.
*** The Hype ***
The box claims that the core provides:
Best ever stain removal
Lasting foaming action
The outer should provide:
100% limescale prevention
The Bloo Power Core is safe to use in septic tanks but should not be used in porous or crazed cisterns.
*** To Use ***
The Bloo Power Core's are really simple to use. Firstly you should always clean your toilet thoroughly and the box recommends that you should also clean under the rim (a place a lot of people forget that gets really dingy if you don't clean it! Yuck!). It is also recommended to use Parazone limescale removing toilet cleaner, but I would say forget that and buy Harpic Power Plus instead if you do have a limescale build up (trust me I've tried everything!). After cleaning your toilet, you should always flush to remove any product. You then simply pop the whole block, including the wrapper into the cistern, as with all of these types of products, at the opposite side to the water inlet. Otherwise you may find that the block doesn't last very long!! Allow 10 minutes before first flushing the toilet. You should replace the block every time you notice the colour fading.
*** My Opinion ***
I started using the power core a little under month ago and have just replaced it with a new block. I haven't noticed any build up of limescale again yet but am unsure if this is due to the use of these tablets or the cleaner that I am now using and also I think it's something that builds up over quite a long time. I don't notice much of a difference to the smell of the toilet, as it isn't very strong when mixed with water. Also the blue colour is a lot lighter than I expected. It's quite pale, and although I can see it, it's not as dark as I would prehaps have liked. The water does foam a little when the toilet is flushed which I like. All in all though, I'm not sure what I expected but I think in future I will just buy the Bloo Max, which doesn't claim to prevent limescale but it freshens and colours the water blue for up to 4 months, and at the bargain price of £1.15 in Wilkos, I think it's a much better buy and I will continue to use Harpic Power Plus regularly to prevent any limescale build up.
*** Other information ***
This product is harmful if swallowed and irritating to skin and eyes. I would recommend that if you were to buy this product, you keep it away from the reach of any children. If this product does come into contact with your eyes or skin, rinse immediately and if it was your eyes, you should get medical advice. If someone swallows the Bloo Power Core, obviously seek medical attention immediately.
Bloo products are made by Jeyes, which are a well known manufacturer of many different hygeine products such as Parazone and the well known Jeyes fluid. The Bloo range includes several different products including:
Bloo 'n Bleach
Bloo Liquid Toilet Cleaner
Bloo Solid and Liquid Rim Blocks
so there are plenty of products for your loo to choose from!
Overall, I would not recommend this product unless you are just after something to faintly colour your water and slightly freshen. I think there are much better products out there and would advise you to try the Harpic Power Plus toilet cleaner if you have a limescale problem as it is a much better way of keeping this under control. And buy a cheaper cistern block if you want the blue colour!
Add power to your flush with new Bloo Powercore / Its deep cleaning action cleans right to the core, even under the rim! Every flush releases a rich foam to shift dirt and prevent limescale, leaving your toilet brilliantly clean.
