This is a great product that basically does what it should do. I bought mine from Tesco for 92p which I thought was great value for money. There are cheaper rim blocks available on the market but I believe this is still a good price as it seems to last longer and sits very snuggly under the toilet rim. I have tried the cheaper ones in the past but they never seem to sit so well and move around, especially when flushing the toilet. It generally lasts in our toilet for around 6 weeks, which works out at a cost of just under 20p per week - not bad in my opinion.
It does provide a great scent as well. It's not a strong smell, just subtle and fresh. I love the smell of a clean bathroom and this keeps the whole room smelling fresh. It creates a small froth in the toilet water and keeps the toilet staying clean and free from stains and lime scale.
Unfortunately this is not a solution to not having to clean the toilet regularly with a toilet brush but it does help make the scrubbing an easier job. This is probably the only downside to this product for me and this is not specifically aimed at Bloo but at rim blocks. I just find it a bit of a pain when cleaning the toilet with a toilet brush, as they get in the way a bit. Obviously it's not difficult to slide the rim block to a different position, more of a slight annoyance.
All in all a great product which I would recommend to anyone to use.
You can't beat a nice clean loo now can you. This little gem cost £1 from my local bargain shop and 89p for refills to go in it. The solid rim toilet cleaner is aimed at cleaning, freshening and preventing limescale in the toilet bowl.
Its simple enough to use you open the packet insert over the toilet rim making sure its in the water flow and away you go.
Now I have to say when I first bought mine I opted for the citrus fresh one because it is yellow and I liked the smell but also because I thought for some reason all bloo products turned the water a different colour like those bloo toilet block things do and I didn't want my toilet water looking dark blue, though I know yellow is probably not the best colour either lol but I prefer it to green and blue. Anyway I needn't have worried because it doesn't change the water any colour, it actually creates a light foam in the water instead which is white. Everytime you flush it smells nice as the fragrance is released and the toilet is left clean. Makes the weekly cleaning of the toilet less of a chore as it has cleaned the majority of the toilet itself I just have to do the weekly squirting of the bleach aroud the rim as it does not clean there.
I would recommend this product as it easy to use smell nice and does what it is suppost to my toilet is let fresh clean after every use.
Jeyes Bloo solid rim - a plain and simple everyday way of counteracting lime scale and keeping the toilet bowl fresh and clean.
The Jeyes solid rim cleaners are available in three fragrances, Fresh Citrus, Fresh Pine or Fresh Aqua. When it came down to choosing a fragrance that suited me I had no problems, I am not a fan of the pine smell and Fresh Aqua didn't seem the most innovative of names to choose, so I picked up a Fresh Citrus solid rim cleaner.
Lemon always smells fresh and clean, maybe with all of the more exotic fragrances that are on offer today it could even be deemed as rather plain.
The solid rim blocks have been in production for years, they are a good straightforward toilet cleaning product.
The solid block of lemon scented cleaner is held inside of a white plastic case that has a couple of slits cut out of the case on each side to allow the water to flow over the scented block each and every time that you flush the loo. Then a long and shapely plastic handle has been attached to that casing which allows you to hang the cleaner over the side of the toilet bowl and let it slide and sit snugly just underneath the rim.
So, once the Jeyes Bloo solid rim is in place then each time that you flush the toilet the water flows over the cleaner and a small amount of cleaner makes its way down into the toilet bowl.
The block has a strong citrus smell when you are hanging it over the edge of the toilet for the first time but once the unit is in place under the toilet rim that smell fades fairly quickly.
Of course the more you flush the toilet the quicker the block wears away, I usually find that I can get a couple of weeks out of one block but there are only the two of us, I think a family may find that they would get through a block far more quickly.
I do have one small beef with them though, if you don't watch out the long arched handle that fits over the edge of the toilet bowl slips and you find that the gadget is either on the floor or sitting in the bottom of the toilet bowl just wasting away in the water.
I think the trick is to pull the handle out as far as it will stretch and then secure it as firmly as you can.
If you expect to see loads of foam and bubbles as you flush then you are going to be disappointed, the water looks does pick up a slight amount of froth along the way but that soon vanishes. You can just smell the citrus but if you want any real fragrance then you will have to buy a Glade Touch and Fresh to use alongside it !
I use the Jeyes solid rim blocks because they do keep the toilet bowl relatively germ-free but that doesn't mean to say that I ignore the need to give the bowl a good going over.
The toilet bowl is still on the end of a good scrubbing session a couple of times a week and I still leave a toilet cleaner in the bottom of the bowl overnight to make sure that the china stays white.
The solid rim block does help to prevent lime scale build up, if I fail to renew the block then it doesn't take long for scale to start rebuilding.
You can buy refills ( 88p for a pack of 2 ) which means that the same case can be reused time and time again and the product is not dear to begin with. I pay somewhere around the 90p mark for mine.
Most leading supermarkets and hardware stores stock the Jeyes products.
That interesting little white plastic box that hangs over the side of the toilet is not anything that we could consider as fascinating but if I had small children running in and out of the bathroom then I may well avoid using any solid rim block, I am sure that the contents must be toxic.
Jeyes have many other cleaners on the market including cistern blocks and the latest Bloo fusions, a gel cleaner.
Jeyes also state that the cleaners are fine to use if you have a septic tank and they are perfectly safe to use in conjunction with other cleaners.
I like the rim blocks, they are quick and easy to use and they help to keep the toilet smelling and feeling fresh and clean.
Clean, foam and freshen your loo with Bloo! Pop over your rim to clean and prevent limescale and give you peace of mind in-between your routine clean.
