Review of Jeyes Bloo Zingy Lime Toilet Cleaner
** I received a bottle of this toilet cleaner for Christmas.**
I appreciate that I have started this review with an odd statement given the nature of the product, but here goes.
Why would anyone buy someone toilet cleaner as a Christmas gift?
Well, back in the autumn, my daughter and her family were staying with us. One evening while watching television, a programme (I cannot recall the title) came in which people with Obsessive Cleaning Disorder (OCD) discussed their cleaning issues and habits and were then taken to the homes of hoarders and the like to see if some of their habits could help the messier people.
During the course of the programme a lady was showing the film crew how by using an up and down action with a lavatory brush, she pumps all the water out of the toilet pan in order to give the loo a really good scrub. I watched with slightly embarrassed interest as this is something I do too on a daily basis and had not realised that other people do not adopt this method for toilet cleaning!
My daughter and my partner were in fits of laughter at my discomfort and I became the butt of some gentle teasing from them about my mild (in my opinion) OCD tendencies.
The joke was continued at Christmas with a gift wrapped bottle of toilet cleaner.
**The Toilet Cleaner**
Presented in a tall recyclable clear plastic bottle, this cleaner promises a 'zingy fragrance'. The bottle is topped by a child proof; twist off cap which is pretty well standard on products of this type. The neck of the bottle is angled to allow users to direct the liquid under the rim of the toilet bowl.
The liquid is a luminous green colour and has a gel-like texture; it is a cross between a liquid and a gel in my view. It clings well to the toilet bowl and when flushed away does not leave a coloured residue on the porcelain the way some loo cleaners do.
Jeyes suggest squirting the cleaner around the toilet and either flushing after use or leaving over night for heavy lime scale removal. I used this in my usual fashion, removing all the water, applying the cleaner, scrubbing the cleaner around the bowl with a toilet brush, leaving for a few minutes before flushing. It worked very well and left the toilet looking sparkling clean and the bathroom filled with a very pleasant lime/citrus scent. This was actually quite long lasting and possibly nicer to the nose than the usual bleach smell.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
The joke Christmas gift was well received and we all had a giggle, although I think my grandchildren were slightly bemused.
Of course, I used the toilet cleaner and although I am usually a bleach devotee when it comes to household cleaning, I was so impressed with this product that when I spotted it in Poundland for just £1 for a 750ml bottle, I bought a couple of bottles. I cannot say I have seen this in supermarkets, so am not sure whether it is a widely available item.
I particularly liked the fresh zingy aroma and the clear container is ideal as you can see just how much liquid you have left. The product works very well; it is easy to use, efficient and does everything you expect from a product of this type.
I would recommend this to others and am awarding it a 5* rating.

I hate having the scrub the toilet clean to rid limescale so I regularly treat our loo's to a squirt of toilet cleaner or bleach to keep on top of it and prevent limescale. The latest cleaner we have is the Bloo Super Fragrance toilet cleaner. This is the first bottle I've used as we are not brand loyal with loo cleaners so tend to try out whatever is on offer at the time.
The colour of this product is really eye catching and attractive, it's a really bright lime green colour as in the picture above so it's really stood out on the shelves in the supermarket. After seeing it was on offer for £1 into the trolley it went.
The bottle is clear plastic so there are no issues telling how much is left, the bottle doesn't state whether it is recyclable but I'll still put it in with my plastics as it's worth a try other than going into land fill! It's a 750ml bottle so it'll last approximately 10-15 applications depending on how generously you use the product. The top of the bottle is shaped as a curve so it's easier to get under the rim of the bowl in the harder to reach area. The cleaner coats the bowl in a lime green cleaner which scent smells very zingy lime as described on the front of the bottle. The scent doesn't stick around after you have flushed but I didn't expect that to be honest. The scent frommthe bottle is lovely, it does small like fresh limes and actually smells good enough to eat!
I like to apply the cleaner and leave it to do it's thing for as long as possible, ideally over an hour, this also let's the scent fill the bathroom. Once flushed, the cleaner foams up a bit and does leave the bowl nice and clean although I've never applied it to any stubborn limescale so cannot comment on the toughness of the cleaner.
Overall I would recommend this for both the scent and the way that frequent use can prevent limescale forming.
Thanks for reading.
Jeyes is a brand I really trust and I do love their Zingy Lime toilet cleaner although I have used about three bottles now I cannot seem to find this in the shops any more.
This 750ml bottle cost me around £1.40 and I was personally attracted initially by the bright green colour which just looked really lovely sitting there on the shelf.
It has a child proof safety lid, which I always think is a good idea plus and an angled head to make it easier to get to the underside of the rim and to to other awkward places without having to break your neck in two.
It is quite a thin bleach to to others I have used and I was quite surprised at this as I thought Jeyes would have made their bleach thicker. However, it did stick to the sides of the bowl reasonably well and I left it overnight to find my toilet bowl clean and fresh the next morning with no nasty stains or marks.
The smell was the biggest thing I personally loved about this product. It smelled so fresh and lovely and not at all like other toilet cleaners I have used. I actually could have stood there sniffing it for ages - it was quite addictive. And I don't often say that about a toilet cleaner!
As I say, I cannot seem to find this in the shops any more, which is a shame because it was really great stuff and I would highly recommend it.

There are lots of different toilet cleaners on the market and some are at very good prices too, and I have tried lots of supermarkets own branded ones too, which I have found are very good value, but when I spotted this one for just £1, I thought I would give it a try as I quite liked the colour, it attracted me to buy it, as it looked very fresh.
It comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a screw off lid, it is child proof, which is excellent for my home as I have lots of grandchildren visiting and so it is best to play safe at all times, the colour of the liquid is lime green, it has a nice nozzle for the liquid to be poured around the rim of the toilet, it is a really nice smelling one, it has a really nice fragrance to it, it does not particularly smell of limes like I first thought it would, it has a more perfumed smell, the liquid is quite thick, it pours easily from the bottle too.
For the £1 I paid, it is for a 750ml bottle, it is a good amount and I have found it cleans and refreshes my toilet, to leave it smelling nice and fresh, the bathroom smells nice too after using this product, the quality of the liquid is super, and for the low price I think it is worth every penny and good value for money.
I do not have a lot of limescale in my toilet and this cleaner cleans the bowl and the rim nicely, it does cling to the bowl and once flushed it rinses nicely too, to leave a fresh smelling toilet, it looks attractive, although I do not buy toilet products just because they look nice, I buy them because I want the product to work for me, and this one certainly does the task well, I just pour some around the rim at night and leave it to settle and work during the night, I then just flush the toilet in the morning and it is super clean.
I place mine in a bathroom cabinet, which is locked so the small ones cannot see or touch it, but it would look nice in the bathroom if you like to leave or are able to leave your cleaners on show.
I really like this one as it is kind of like a gel liquid, it is very rich and smooth, the bottle is very easy to hold, it is a little hard to turn the cap sometimes if you are a little weak, but that is a good thing as it shows it is child proof, as my mum often comes to stay with me and my wife and she finds it a little harder to turn as she is a little older but this cleaner does clean with little effort at all.
It looks refreshing, it is refreshing and I would certainly recommend this one for the price and quality as it works and it is affordable if you are on a lower budget and it is available in other fragrances too, I bought this one from my local Wilkinsons.
I rate it 5 stars.
I found this in Poundland, which is probably 1 of my favourite shops. Funnily enough I paid £1 for this, which seemed quite an ordinary price to pay, but apparently this is a limited edition Toilet Cleaner, so i guess since I haven't conciously seen this for sale in the main Supermarkets then the stock has found it's way to the Discount Shops.
This looks like the Dooyoo picture, the 1 on the right. Quite a typical Toilet Bleach shape. Easy enough to tip up and apply. The bottle is a 750ml bottle and this would do quite a few goes down the Toilet. It has the usual child proof cap, which you squeeze at the side, and then open. The squirty bit is a fine point which allows you to aim this at certain areas down the Toilet.
The Gel is quite thick, but i've used thicker Gel for this job. it sticks to the rim alright, but you find that some runs down the bowl quite quickly. I don't mind this too much since it cleans the whole area anyway. On the bottle it states to flush the Toilet after applying this, or leave overnight for heavy Limescale buildup. I tend to always apply mine either before I leave for work or overnight to always give it a good chance to clean.
The smell from this was lovely. A nice strong Lime smell which seemed to linger the rest of the day. It smelt fresh and certainly Zingy.
I would suggest to try this. It is nicer than other Toilet Cleaners i've used due to the nice smell and it does the job it's meant to do. The Toilet is left clean and sparkling.
I had never tried this range of toilet cleaner before until recently, when I saw this one for only £1 for 750ml, and thought I would give it a try, as some of my family had been saying how they liked it, and for the price, I thought it was good and I liked the look of it too, as it looked very refreshing and attractive for a toilet cleaner.
The bottle is a plastic transparent and it has a screw off top, which is child proof, which is good if you have small children, it is a lime green coloured liquid, it is quite thick and it has a nice fragrance, I would say it smells of fresh flowerers in my opinion, it smells gorgeous this one, and the liquid is not at all runny, it is easy to pour from the nozzle around the rim of the toilet too.
It clings to the bowl and it is easy use a brush around the rim or bowl if needed and also to flush, and I found the toilet was a nice refreshing smell after flushing, and clean, I tend to leave my toilet cleaners in the toilet for at least an hour after cleaning, just to let it settle and smell nice.
This cleaner kills 99.9% of germs and removes lime scale, I do not have a large build up of lime scale as I use bleach most of the time on my toilet and leave it over night, but this cleaner helps to remove it too.
The quality of this one is an excellent one and superb value for money and the liquid is a nice texture to move around the toilet and it does not scratch it as it is not abrasive at all, it is nice, smooth and soft.
I really do like this one for the smell and it works perfectly on my toilet and a lot of effort is not needed to do the cleaning and it does not have that clinical smell after use, as some other cleaners do in my opinion, this is a lovely little toilet freshener and worth the money and very good value and quality.
I like the smell when I have closed the bathroom door and re entered as the smell is quite apparent immediately and very pleasant.
I recommend this one for anyone to try as it is a super cleaner and very good value for the money and I love the bright colour of it too as it looks refreshing and attractive in a bathroom as some people like to leave the bottle on show, and so I think it would suit any bathroom if that is the case.
I will be buying this brand again in the future and trying another fragrance as there are a few different ones available.
I give this one 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
this is a review of bloo toilet cleaner. It cost me 95p from sainsbury. Im not particularly loyal to any given brand of toilet cleaner having used various incarnations of domestos, harpic and toilet duck but like to give any new products a go just to make a change. I'd seen this product before so decided to give it a go.
The bottle is see through with a white lid. The bottle has the usual bent neck for getting under the toilet rim but the bottle is rather curved and modern unlike most mundane toilet cleaners. It rather reminds me of a bubblebath bottle, but don't go confusing it obviously! There were two or three different coloured versions but i got the lime version. The bottle says it freshens the loo and kills 99.9% of germs.
When it came to use this i found the lid to be not difficult to get off so didn't have to hurt my fingers opening the bottle! I therefore store the bottle out of reach of children just to be safe. Squirting the liquid around the loo you can tell that its quite a thin liquid to say domestos thus allowing it to cover the loo without the need to spread it around with the aid of a toilet brush. I applied it just i was going out to walk the dog so left for an hour or so and returned to finish it off. On entering the room you will notice the lime perfume like smell freshening the whole bathroom, which i like although some others may not. I noticed even though the liquid appeared to be thin it had actually clung under the rim which is where a lot of the germs are so i liked that. I didn't bother with the brush seeing as my loo wasn't particularly stained anyway. On flushing most of the green liquid had been removed and was left with the usual bubbles in the bottom and the nice fragrance. The loo was left spotless and shiney and germ free. I do like that it kills the germs as my kids take themself to the loo these days so it nice to know they won't pick up any nasty germs from the loo.
Overall i would recommend this product if you want a really strong frangranced loo cleanerbut i will probably end up returning to the reliable domestos or harpic. I use it on both our loos pretty much every other day and it has lasted a couple of weeks with probably enough for one more clean, so thats not bad for 95p i think.
I live with my wife in a one bedroom flat and recently I took over a few more of the cleaning duties including the bathroom now being one for me so I headed around to my local Asda and when looking for all my cleaning products I found Bloo zingy lime toilet cleaner at only £1 a bottle so decided to give it a shot but is it cheap for a reason?
The first thing I would like to say about this product is it is very well packaged with the bottle easy to handle and the secure lid able to be opened without any problems.
Upon opening the bottle and pouring around the toilets rim area as per the instructions you are hit with an amazingly strong lime fragrance that is actually rather nice and a big improvement on the usual vile smelling products used to clean.
The liquid itself is very thin and so you will not need to be squeezing the bottle too much to push a good amount of this out but it coates well and cleans very well too.
Overall I highly recommend this as it is fresh and cleans well. The only thing I would say is due to it pouring so easily it does mean it may last less uses than some others but the excellent price offsets this plenty for me and so I will be using it again in future.
Toilet cleaners are not something that I generally pay much attention to and most of the time just buy what ever one is on offer.
After seeing an advertisement on TV for the limited edition 'zingy lime' frangrance of Bloo toilet cleaner, I decided then that I would buy that one on my next trip to the supermarket.
The most noticable thing about the product in the very bright (almost nuclear looking!) green colour.
The child safety cap helps stop little ones opening the bottle, however like all cleaning products, it is suggested that they are stored out of reach of children.
The front of the bottle boasts about its super fragrance and its power to remove limescale and kill germs..... Time to put the claims to the test!
As soon as you open the lid, you are hit with the powerful lime fragrance, it really does smell super- just like the bottle said! So far so good.
As for the germs, its hard to tell if this product kills them, but one of the ingredients is disinfectant so its likely that that claim is also true.
Unfortunately the same can not be said for removing limescale, I did not notice a difference as far as this was concerned. It may help prevent it, or it may remove a minimal amount but not a significant amount and definitely not enough to use this product if your main aim is to remove limescale. For heavily built up limescale it is reccommended to leave the liquid in the toilet overnight with the toilet seat in an upright position, but even following these instructions, I still did not notice a difference.
I found this toilet cleaner very easy to use. You Open the bottle by squeezing the pads on the sides of the cap, then direct the nozzle under the toilet rim and squeeze the bottle to apply liquid.
The bottle says you should then flush away for a sparkling clean, fresh finish but because the scent disappears as soon as its flushed I prefer to keep the liquid in the toilet as long as possible to get the most out of the super fresh fragrance.
Sometimes some green residue is left behind, it does look a little yukky but it soon goes after a few flushes.
The most impressive quality about this product is most definitely the fragrance, it is so good that it doubles up as an air freshner!
I purchased mine from Sainsburys for £1.53 for a 750ml bottle. There is no guideline as to how often you should use it, I use mine daily as I like the fresh scent so much and a bottle tends to last me a couple of weeks.
I think the price is very reasonable for the quality of the product.
I would definitely reccommend this toilet cleaner if you are looking for a burst of freshness in a fuss free convenient way. If you are looking for more of a heavy duty cleaner/descaler then from my experience I do not think that this will be suitable.
The zingy lime is a limited edition fragrance so get in quick! I'm going to keep an eye out for the next seasons limited edition fragrances which the bottle says are coming soon!!
NB:Avoid contact with eyes and skin. If swallowed, wash out mouth with water and seek medical advice. Wash hands after use.
Cleaning the toilet is probably one of my least favourite household chores so I'm constantly looking out for ways to brighten up such an onerous task. I first discovered Bloo 'Zingy Lime' toilet cleaner through a review on Dooyoo and thought it sounded like a refreshing change to standard toilet cleaners.
I found the Bloo in Morrisons for just under £1.50 for a 750ml, so pretty average pricing for a branded toilet cleaner. It does look funky with a bright fluorescent green liquid visible through the clear plastic bottle but that might not be to everybody's taste, especially those who prefer more subtle packaging!
The Bloo is easy to use with the usual child-proof lid and an angled head which helps to spread this all around the bowl. I found the bright green liquid to be a little thinner than I expected so I ended up using more than I intended as a gentle squirt forced quite a lot of liquid out. Despite being relatively thin, it does coat the sides of the toilet and seems to cling for a while as it works its way down. Unlike many cleaners, this doesn't need to be left overnight or for a certain number of hours before flushing, which is handy as there always seems to be somebody needing the loo just seconds after I've cleaned it!
I bought this toilet cleaner because I liked the sound of its 'zingy' fragrance and it didn't disappoint in that respect. It is a fresh fruity scent that doesn't remind me of the smell of public toilets - unlike standard bleach cleaners! I tend to use the Toilet Duck Lime Fresh Discs in the toilet as well as cleaning with a liquid cleaner and the similar fragrances of these two products complement each other well. I don't find that the scent lingers very long after the initial flush which is a little disappointing but it does seem to be very effective at cleaning the toilet bowl and leaves it looking sparkling and white.
This is apparently one of Bloo's 'limited edition' fragrances, although I don't suppose that this will be a collector's item in years to come! I wouldn't be too upset if I don't manage to buy this again as there are other toilet cleaners that perform equally well on the market but it is certainly functional and effective and I would probably give some of the other varieties a try in the future.
I have a slight obsession with colour co-ordinating my bathroom, and since deciding to paint it orange (I thought it would look warmer for the winter), I have really struggled for orange cleaning products. (There are no orange cistern blocks that I can find).
So when I found this product I couldn't wait to try it. Obviously I bought the orange one, but I found it really great. It is not expensive like some toilet cleaner, but does just as good a job. I think it was about £1 when I purchased it.
I have only bought one more bottle since that, as it lasts so long.
The great thing about this product is the smell. It doesn't have that horrible bleachy smell that so many toilet cleaners have that lingers around your bathroom for days on end. It has a fresh orange scent (I assume the green one is lime), that really is a nice change. Also I found it is not an over powering smell like so many other toilet cleaners, that tend to hit you at the back of the throat.
A little bit of this does go a long way as it's quite a thin liquid. It cleans really well, I found it really made the toilet sparkly clean, and I used it for other things around the bathroom, not just the toilet. It cleaned the plug hole in the sink extraordinarily well.
I find this product much more enjoyable to clean with than other toilet cleaners, and use it on a regular basis.
One thing I can't stand is a dirty toilet and I'm rather particular about what I use. My house could be like a bomb site (which with two young sons can often resemble)but as long as my toilet is clean I am happy.
Let me clarify what I mean when I say I'm particular about what I use; firstly I don't like to use bleach too much as I don't like the overpowering smell it emits as it always gives me a headache. And secondly, I have bought some brands of toilet cleaner which seem to stain the bowl - resulting in me having to use bleach. A no win situation!
I saw this Bloo toilet cleaner in a limited edition zingy lime fragrance so thought I'd give it a try..
Price and packaging~
The bottle has softer lines than the standard 'duck' shape most toilet cleaners come in but it does have the curved neck of the bottle to make applying under the rim easier.
The bottle is clear plastic so the contents are clearly visible - which in this case really lives up to it's name of being a zingy lime colour.
It has a child proof plastic lid on the top as is the norm with these type of products and this cost me the sum of £1 from my local supermarket.
Does it work?~
Well I'm skipping the 'how to use' category as I am presuming you all know how to use a toilet cleaner!
The only bit I will add about it is it tells you to flush the toilet straight away after cleaning or for heavy limescale to leave overnight.
I applied this to my toilet just before leaving the house to to take my boys on the school run. I applied a thinnish layer around the rim of the toilet and left the lid up.
On returning from school about 40 minutes later I was met with a strong - but not unpleasant - lime scent on opening the door. I do live in a cottage so all our rooms are on one floor but the bathroom is the furthest away from the door.
On entering the bathroom the zesty lime scent was really nice and made the whole bathroom smell lovely.
I cleaned my toilet and was reluctant to flush immediately as it smelt so fresh! I was surprised to find the lime fragrance didn't disappear straight away and you could still detect the citrus aroma every time you walked past the bathroom.
Would I recommend this for your toilet?~
I'd say a big yes.
I thought the toilet cleaner wouldn't last very long at first as it's very thin in consistency and though bright green it's very watery.
As you only need to apply a thin layer it lasts as long as thicker toilet cleaners so works out a bargain at only £1.
My toilet bowl was sparkling and the product didn't stain the porcelain either which was a plus.
