I've always been a bit sceptical about these amazing cleaning products, but when I saw this one in the Lakeland catalogue I decided to give it a go. After all, it only cost £3.95 so I hadn't lost much if it didn't live up to it's claim. Lakeland claim that this stain remover block "quickly and effortlessly removes even the most stubborn of stains from non-absorbent surfaces without scratching." You don't have to use any type of detergent or cleaning fluid with it and you can use it on work surfaces, sinks, hobs, ground-in dirt, scuff marks, paint residue from windows and limescale and stains in your bathroom. Sounds good! So I put it to the test and attacked my slightly off-white white bath. To my amazement it cut through the grimy bits that I hadn't been able to get off with my bathroom cleaner and my bath is now gleaming again. There really was very little effort to this process, I didn't even have to press very hard. Next, I tried it on my bathroom tiles and again it worked brilliantly. I've also tried it in my kitchen; on my sink (which is white and a pain to keep clean), on my Formica and on the tiles behind the hob which are grease splattered. All of these items came up really well and it especially cut through the grease spots as if they weren't there. Next, to the actual product. The Micro-Fibre Stain Remover Block looks like a white piece of florists oasis. It feels slightly like it too. Before you use it for the first time you have to soak it for 5 minutes in water. It doesn't soak up water like a sponge and will float so I turned mine over a couple of times to make sure it was all wet. Then you simply wet the surface you want to clean with water and rub the stain block over it. This is when it really feels like oasis. Little bits slough off so you need to wipe these away afterwards, but it doesn't scratch the surface you're working on. I found that grease dis
coloured the bit of block it came in contact with, but it seems to be sucked in somewhat and doesn't come back out again. Also, the block rubs away at the corners where you're pushing it along, so it won't last forever, but even so it does seem quite sturdy and should last for quite a long time. All in all I'm very impressed with this little gadget and am amazed at how quickly and how well it removes all sorts of stains, grime and dirt. It can be used on so many items in the home, that every home should have one.
