I do not shop in Aldi very often as there is not one that is close to my home, but the other day I wanted to stock up on a few baking ingredients and find Aldi the cheapest place to do this. While in the store I spotted bottles of the Aldi own brand Magnum washing up liquid. I had seen many adverts about this washing up liquid and also only read the day before that it had been voted the Which best buy washing up liquid for the second year running.

The washing up liquid can only be purchased from Aldi with a 500ml bottle currently costing just £0.59. I thought for this low price it was certainly worth a try as it is more than half the price of what I normally pay for Fairy liquid.

The Magnum washing up liquid comes packaged in a clear plastic bottle with red flip top cap. The bottle is curved towards the top allowing you to easily grip it even with wet hands. There is a stick on label on the front and back of the bottle, on the front it simply states that it is a 'premium washing up liquid' and displays the which best buy winner 2011 logo with a picture of a sparkling wine glass. On the back label you can find more detailed information about the washing up liquid including directions for use, ingredients listings, and cautions.

This washing up liquid looks like most other original washing up liquids with it being dark green in colour. The smell is quite chemically but not totally unpleasant and does not seem to linger on the dishes after use. To use the washing up liquid you simply need to squeeze a small amount under running water. It is really easy to dispense out of the bottle and the liquid is quite thick so does not drip or leave any residue around the cap.

I have found this washing up liquid to be extremely good, firstly it gives a great amount of bubbles and lather from only using a small amount. It washes all items perfectly leaving glasses sparkling and even lifts off baked food from pans and trays with very short soaking time. One squeeze of this liquid in a bowl of water is enough to wash a good amount of dishes and even at the end there are still visible bubbles. Also I have had no adverse reaction to my skin from using this washing up liquid even though I have used it on a couple of occasions without gloves my skin has not been affected in any way.

I would certainly purchase this washing up liquid again and on my next visit to Aldi I will be making sure I stock up. To me this certainly shows that non branded items can be just as good as the leading brands so are always worth a try.
