Advantages: Vegan,Cruelty free, Natural ingredients, Green Co, Smell is Gorgeous! and It Works!
Disadvantages: Bit expensive
I was undertaking a session of research to find a cleaning product that was cruelty free and if I could find one which contains less chemicals well that was a bonus. My endless and at times confusing search has come to a satisfactory end now that I have trialled a great bathroom cleaner called 'Tub n Tile' which is manufactured by a company called Method.
You may have heard of Method already? I had kind of seen it while on shopping trips to Tesco and Sainsbury's but did not know that this was a kinder option - kinder to yourself as there are no chemical nasties, kinder to the environment as this is a Green minded company and of course kinder to our animal friends.
~~Well Who Is METHOD and What is all the fuss?~~
Method is a company who are very big on the Green issues and that has to be a good thing in my opinion. They not only want to limit the size of their carbon footprint and impact of manufacturing on the planet but also acknowledge the benefits of having less toxic chemicals in products for everyone who uses them and the environment in which they are used. This makes sense to me and I am encouraged and interested to find out more.
This company appear to be pretty conscientious with regard to ingredients and sustainability. For example when looking into the best Greenest options they consider three subjects which are : Health, Green and Responsible practice. Things to consider within these area's of concern are for example : are ingredients non - toxic, do they cause eye irritation, are they carcinogenic, are they natural and locally sourced, will they produce aquatic toxicity when disposed of or flushed. They take seriously employee training and diversity. Well I am impressed with all of these important issues and it gives me a reassurance that this is a company with very high standards and morals.
There is a bunny on this website www.methodsproducts.co.uk I found him, all white and pink ears! Of course he is not a real bunny, he is the logo that lets you know that Method is cruelty free and vegan. Well with me being a vegan this is a big tick in the box.
On the website (which has so much information it is unbelievable) you will find a heading 'dirty ingredients' and this lists the ingredients that you will not be finding in these products. They include parabens, phospate and ammonia and give the possible outcomes of using them. It is nice to know that they are not putting any of those into these cleaning products, we can breath easy now. And you really can because instead of the chemical strong smell that I have previously experienced this product has a beautiful and delicate natural smell, what a welcome change, I no longer need to hold my breath or open the window wide when cleaning the 'tub'!
~~What products do Method have to offer us then?~~
All purpose range
Hand care range
Laundry range (which is new and I have some for when I have used up the other stuff that I already have)
Baby and kid range
Well that pretty much covers everywhere that you may consider cleaning! Very comprehensive.
~~Tell us about 'TUB n TILE' now then~~
Well lets make a good start and say that this product won an award in 2009. It was the 'SHE' AWARD for best cleaner, that is good to know and makes me optimistic that my bath tub is going to clean up well.
Comes in an attractive, yes it is pretty this bottle in my opinion and a shame it is kept in a cupboard, light blue bottle. This really does feel high quality and of course it is recyclable. With a great spray action pump this handles well and is easy to use. The graphics are clear and font is eye catching. 'Non toxic and clean' is the title. The logo and information are easy to locate and follow.
All ingredients are biodegradable so it is even safe to use in septic tanks, should you wish to.
The fragrance is eucalyptus mint and boy does this smell clean and light and just beautiful, it makes cleaing the bath tub and much nicer activity and not as much of a chore.
It has natural plant based ingredients, you can be assured that next time you take a bath the only remnants of cleaner will be non toxic and that is nice to know isn't it.
This is a generous sized bottle and you don't need to use any more product than you normally would so even though it may be more expensive it will last a good length of time, that is unless you can't stop cleaning because you just love the fragrance so much! I am not saying anything.
~~So go on then HOW MUCH~~
Method Tub n Tile will cost £3.00 per bottle unless on offer as it occasionally is at Tesco and you will get it cheaper. Worth keeping your eye open on your shopping trips.
Ok, so this is an expensive cleaner isn't it. But if you take into account the fact that this is a very high quality product that is non toxic (that has to be a bonus) and is cruelty free and vegan and actually works AND smells great! well lets just say I think you are getting exactly what you pay for here.
So, it is the time most people dread, time to clean that bathtub. Not one of my all time favourites this activity but of course it is a must. Of I go with my marigolds at the ready and then I think well I don't really need them with this stuff being natural do I ? So I remove and have the freedom of bare hands. I spray around the tub, with effortless ease and oh my goodness, what is that? wow the smell is divine and a treat while I wait a few minutes for the spray to settle to work on the visible rims around the tub (not so bad honest, we have the most hard water in our area and scum around the bath is terrible). Now for the big test, all reads well with this product, all sounds ideal and my goodness it smells ideal but does it work? YES, I can tell you this stuff works a treat. I didn't have to put too much elbow grease in to the work at hand, but just enough and the results where a SPARKLING and SHINY bath! Wow what a sight and what a smell! I had a good experience with Tub n Tile!
The choice is yours on this one really, I know it is on the expensive side but it does last a long time and it does work wonderfully. You won't be bathing in toxic remnants and the smell, I don't know if I remember mentioning the smell - oh yes I did didn't I. Gorgeous. Would I buy again, YES.
Thank you for reading.
