I bought this from a shop where I buy my cheap household things from for £1.39 months ago and i still have over half a bottle left, so for me it has been good value for money so far. The bottle is 750 mls in size and a lot is not needed for each use. The directions for use of this is pretty simple and are shown on the back of the bottle, it can be used on most surfaces ovens ect, so it can be used on most things.
The smell of this is not really great and is hard to explain, but its not an unpleasant smell, and the smell does get better the longer it has been since you used it. It does make your kitchen smell better once it has all been claned for a while.
I usually only use this myself for my cooker and my sides, and it quite surprised me at how well it worked, most marks would come off my units straight away with just a spray of this and a little wipe. The cooker always posed more of a problem as it always seems to get pretty grimy, it must be my cooking lol. It does say on the bottle for tougher stains to leave on for 30 seconds, so I do this for my cooker, I do find it does make it easier to clean but I still have to give it a little bit of a scrub, but I do not have to use much muscle. Obviously you can not say a cleaning product lasts as it all depends on how messy you are I suppose and I am pretty messy, so my sides never stay clean for too long. But the smell of it does last a while round you kitchen, which is like I say a pleasant smell once it has died down.
You do not have to use too much of this I usually find that one small squirt on each of my units is far more than enough, which is why this seems to have lasted for ages. I would recommend this product as it really lasts a long time and it does reduce your cleaning times.
Mr Muscle is one of those popular household brand names you just can't escape from, and I have a very large 750ml bottle I swiped from my sister (who swiped it from her workplace!) which lives under my kitchen sink for those days when I feel the need to go on a spree and spruce up the house a bit!
This Kitchen cleaner is a great spray that is ideal for cleaning the whole kitchen area, being quite versatile in that it can be used on various different surfaces. It claims to clean all around the kitchen surfaces including work tops, but can also be used on sinks, taps, glass and tiles without any problems. I find this a fantastic cleaner as I use it pretty much everywhere! Not even just the kitchen! It works great on kitchen surfaces, as with a quick spray it is very effective at removing grease from around the worktop surrounding my cooker, especially when I have been frying something with oil which has decided to splatter everywhere! With slightly stubborn grease stains with this Mr Muscle spray, I find it optimum to spray the affected area and leave it for up to 5 minutes and give it a nice scrub with the rougher side of a kitchen sponge and this does the job perfectly. It leaves my worktops with a nice, clean, hygenic feel and look and it makes my kitchen feel 100 times fresher!
Using it on the taps and in the sink is simple enough, just spray and wipe and Mr Muscle leaves them shiny and clean. I prefer to use such things like cif in my bathroom but have on occasion used this in there too! To me it's all cleaning products, so I doubt it's going to do too much harm!
Oddly enough, I woke up the other day and noticed little madam had scribbled in pencil on her bedroom wall! I was very annoyed and frustrated so took to try and clean it off, and this spray was the first thing I grabbed. Spraying it onto the wall directly I used a slightly damp kitchen cloth and began scrubbing, and have to say this worked! It really is a multi-purpose spray! I wouldn't recommend this too much for this purpose however, as with my elbow grease after a while of scrubbing I began to notice that it started to strip some of the paint off the wall a bit, which was not intended. Oops. So I promptly ended this activity and returned it to it's usual place under the sink, after of course giving my daughter a good telling off lol.
It comes in a dark blue bottle which is easy to hold and has a good solid grip. The lever underneath can be pressed and released to allow the spray to activate and release the product onto the surfaces as applied. The bottle is optimum to use as it has an on/off switch near the nozzle to control when it can be used. I find this much more secure as I know should my little one get her hands on it, she can spray away but none of the product will actually come it which is super!
Overall, I really like this product and can't recommend it enough! Great for scrubbing all surfaces, with Mr Muscle you know you can't go wrong. With this giant bottle we have I know it will last me a good few months as not much spray is actually even needed to create maximum cleaning impact so it is very good value for money also. I have seen the price of this in my local homeware shop for £2 for a 500ml bottle. I can only assume this is the average price for this product, in which case I don't think it's too expensive so very good value for money!

Mr Muscle is a cleaning brand which is part of the SC Johnson company. Their range includes kitchen, bathroom, floor and drain cleaners.
The SC Johnson company also includes the likes of Glade and Brillo and promote themselves as being a family company.
Mr Muscle currently has 3 spray products in their kitchen range :
Kitchen Lemon Fresh with Antibacterial Action
This review concentrates on the Multi-Task Kitchen.
This spray is suitable for several cleaning chores within the kitchen area. It can be used on the worktop surfaces, around the sink and tap area, on the cooker hob, tiles and glass surfaces.
It has been formulated to cut through and effectively remove grease and leave the surfaces streak free.
Like the bathroom cleaners, this cleaner comes in a tall, curvy plastic bottle. There is a rather large trigger spray at the top with a nozzle which you must turn to open up the spray.
The bottle is made with pretty thick plastic with finger indents near the top for easy handling. The bottle is a dark blue shade which stands out from other cleaners. It is transparent which is ideal for checking when you are running low.
The front label is green and shows the famous Mr Muscle Man and his logo/product name etc. The green label on the back has the usual claims, directions for use, ingredients, warnings and contact details for the company. There is even a few diagrams to show the surfaces you can use this on.
The bottle can be recycled after using.
If using this on kitchen surfaces, you should use full trigger sprays (pull the trigger right in instead of short sprays) and spray directly onto surfaces. The wipe off with a damp cloth.
If these is a stubborn stain, it is recommended you allow 30secs for it to get to work then wipe away.
If you are using this on glass, spray directly onto the glass and wipe using a dry cloth. This should allow for streak free results.
Common sense really..do not inhale, use in ventilated areas, keep away from children etc.
**Availability and Price**
I found my bottle in the Pound World store at you have guessed it...£1.00! This is for a 750ml bottle.
I believe that a kitchen should always be kept clean and tidy. There is nothing worse than going into someones home and seeing dirt and grime loaded up on surfaces. Its vile and as you cooking and preparing food, that dirt is lingering around and infesting the food.
My kitchen isn't massive but I do have a few worktops, cupboards etc. Previously, I used the Flash Wipes but when I spotted this Mr Muscle Multi-Task Kitchen spray in Pound World..I decided it was a bargain and put it into my basket. I have been using it for a few weeks now and decided to tell you my thoughts about my experience.
First of all the bottle is conveniently shaped and very easy for even my clumsy hands to hold. The trigger is a good size and doesn't require much effort to get the spray going. I always have this in the locked position when in my cupboard incase Boo starts levetating again. As far as a cleaning product goes, this striking dark blue colour is different and jumps out at me. I also like being able to see through the bottle for shopping purposes.
So what do I use this spray for? Well the answer is many things! I will list them below.
Spills happen everyday and although I try to mop them up ASAP, hubby is not as quick. I find that blackcurrent juice and tomato sauce based products are the worst offenders for staining my light worktops. Around the edges of the worktops is also known for harbouring crumbs and dirt. I have a bad habit of sitting hot pots onto my worktops and this leads to burn marks and makes the surface look grubby and dirty.
A quick spray onto the worktop is all that is needed. If it is a stubborn mark, I leave it for half a minute and then use damp, cheap cloth to wipe it away. I find this works perfectly and although the burn marks seem to have become a permanent fixture, they are certainly not as strong in colour as before. As for general, everyday cleaning, a quick spray and I instantly wipe it off for a clean and hygenic surface for preparing food.
I am forever splashing food on the hob. It is often covered with various grease marks from cooking with my frying pan and in pots. Although a wipe removes any instant stains, some seem to stick and refuse to budge. When my cooker is cool, I lightly spray this around the white area and on the front. I tend to leave it for a minute to ensure that it fully works before getting a slightly damp cloth and wiping. The stubborn marks come away quite easily leaving only permanent little marks around the rings of the cooker. The knobs on the cooker clean up well and any grubby marks sweep away.
As for the door or the oven, it can get a bit dirty on the outside and a light spray then buffed with a dry cloth seems to do the trick. There are no noticable streaks or marks left on the glass and I have also found this to be the case with the front of the microwave so the claim of streak free glass is true.
I most recently used this to clean the outside of my white fridge. Although it appeared to be fairly clear with the odd mark here and there, I was shocked at how much dirt had gone unnoticed. I sprayed from top to bottom and left for 30secs before wiping with a damp cloth. I dirt which I didn't realise was there smeared across the fridge and I had to use a few cloths to clean it up. I was disgusted with myself.
This is where I do a lot of work..yes the dishes! Hubby is no good at doing them so if I want them done right..I need to do them myself! Food residue sweeps around the sink and the drainer is always getting soaked with water from clean dishes. After a while, this can smell so I use this to polish and clean the area up.
I clear this area and give a gentle spray around the drainers, sink and the tap area. The taps seem to gather dirt behind and underneath but this spray gets stuck into them releasing the dirt from their clutches and rinsing it down the plughole..take that nasty dirt haha! Any marks in my sink come off with ease and a quick swish around with the scoury cleans it up nicely leave a slight clean shine!
I used this to give the outside of my plastic bin a wipe down. I do the inside with bleach as it gets dirtiest but outside part and the lid needed a simple spray and wipe down. I was impressed that this removed the few built on marks without any effort on my part.
We may be moving home this week so I have been clearing out my many kitchen cupboards. After I emptied them, I found a wipe down with hot soap water wasn't sufficient enough. I sprayed some of this onto them and also the drawers and handles and found that it returned them to their original, clean colour!
I have tiles around the top of my sink area and worktops. They get grubby from general splashes of food and dirty dishes and have never really looked the colour they should since I moved in! This spray has allowed them to replenish and look brighter and cleaner than before.
The triggers spray allows the cleaner to dispense to quite a large area so I recommend spraying a bit away from your chosen surface. Once sprayed, I noticed the cleaner was clear with a white, foamy topping. The spray seemed to get to work really fast as you could hear it fizzling away on the surface.
The scent isn't as overpowering as I had expected and certainly didn't reek of chemicals like some cleaners can. It had a subtle fresh, clean and slightly citrussy scent which did make my kitchen smell quite pleasant. It didn't interfere with any cooking or food preparation later in the day.
Once my surfaces are wiped down, they stay damp for a short time before fully drying. If I am in a hurry to do something, I often dry them with a cloth and find that there is never any residue or stickiness left on the surface which allows me to get on with whatever I need to do.
As I said, the spray covers a wide area so you really do not need a lot for it to do its intended job. Whilst doing my full kitchen including my cuboards and fridge, I used about 200mls which is excellent. For normal daily cleaning, it is obviously much less.
When cleaning my kitchen, I rarely use gloves unless absolutely neccessary. I hate the feel of them so avoid where possible. Although it is recommended that you do not use this without gloves on a regular basis, I found it to be perfectly fine even on my sensitive skin and didn't react to it in any way.
For £1.00 this is a bargain and I plan to buy it regularly for aslong as Pound World offer it. It does what it is supposed to and provids a refreshing scent at a cheap price considering its a brand name.
I highly recommend this multi tasking spray!
Thanks for reading :)
We've been doing some serious cooking for the best part of the morning as we've got guests coming round for dinner. I'm talking boiling, frying, baking the lot! As soon as we'd finished my mum said - "Right, I'm off to have a shower and the cooker's all yours!" Gee, thanks Mum! As you can imagine the cooker was a right state with burnt on sauce, dried up flour, grease and general debris. "This will require some serious elbow grease" I said as I rolled up my sleeves and donned my gloves.
I reached into the cupboard for the Mr Muscle multi task kitchen cleaner. This comes in a plastic bottle with a squirty pump at the top. Handily it also has a knob to turn the squirty on and off. The bottle itself is dark blue in colour. The label states that it cleans to a shine from greasy hobs to glass. It boasts that it is tough enough to remove grease and dirt to leave a streak free shine, even on glass. To be honest I'm always sceptical about products that make such claims as they usually require some serious scrubbing to get the results I want.
I removed the loose debris from the cooker before liberally squirting a layer of the cleaner onto the hob and glass lid. As the cooker seemed particularly dirty I left the spray on for around 30 seconds, as recommended, before wiping off with a clean sponge.
I was pleasantly surprised with the light, almost floral smell that was not at all chemically. I was also amazed to see that the grease and dried up sauce removed effortlessly to leave a squeaky clean surface. Similarly the glass lid wiped down easily without leaving any streaks.
I'm forced to eat my words. This product does what it says. It's also suitable for use on worktops, tiles, sinks and taps. However it should not be used on wood, varnished surfaces or gold fittings. Priced at around the £2.00 mark for 750ml this is great value for money and certainly saves you some tired arms. Recommended!
I don't know what we'd do without a good stock of Mr Muscle in to keep our house clean - the kitchen especially! (It says it a kitchen cleaner but it does a good job anywhere really!). We have one of those kitchens were every little mark or smudge shows up, which is really frustrating, but this stuff keeps it looking nice.
The nozzle sprays really well and has an on and off side, which acts as a bit of a safety device against experimental kids so is an added bonus. You can tell the bottle is good quality so makes it worth the extra money you'd pay instead of buying a supermarket bottle.
The cleaning product itself has an inoffensive smell, and is not too noticeable (in case you're doing a quick clean round before guests arrive!). It works on most surfaces (although I realised that I'd been cleaning my chopping board with it too and it actually recommends not to use on untreated wood! Just a word of advice if your surfaces are wooden!) and I tend to use it for cleaning windows as well as the oven/worktops/cupboards. It removes most marks and dirt, although I would say that it finds tougher dried on marks a bit of a challenge and it takes a bit of muscle to get rid of that even if you leave it to soak for a while. So maybe not a product for getting rid hardened, built up dirt.
But for giving your kitchen a regular clean over I wouldn say it is a brilliant cleaning product which certainly works for my house and I will continue to buy for its excellent results!
I love my kitchen to be spotless clean but I absolutely hate the smell of bleach. After years of bleaching and being nearly on the verge of being sick, I decided I would opt for something that would clean well and hopefully be more pleasant to use. That's when I discovered Mr muscle multi-task kitchen
Mr muscle comes in a dark blue coloured bottle with a lime green sticker on the front displaying the Mr muscle logo. The bottle size is 750ml. At the top of the bottle there is a clear spraying device. This can be switched on and off.
I was happy to see that the bottle advises that the spray can be used on virtually anything in the kitchen. This means only one bottle of this is needed to clean the whole kitchen instead of lots of different products. The first thing I noticed about the spray was the smell. I was happy to see that there was no sign of a sickly bleach smell. I wouldn't say that the smell was very nice but it wasn't enough to put you off.
Secondly I noticed that the cleaner was quite fine but it did come out in a big hazy spritz so one spray covered a large amount.
I sprayed the cleaner on to my bench surfaces and left it on for 30 seconds (the bottle advises to do this if there are stubborn stains, I decided to give the cleaner its full potential. After the 30 seconds was up I wiped the bench with a damp cloth and I was very pleased to see that all the stain came away with ease. There was hardly any effort needed in scrubbing. Once the bench had dried it had a lovely streak free shine on it and the kitchen smelled fresh.
Glass surfaces and hobs:
Next I sprayed directly onto the glass top of my hob; I wiped the cleaner away this time as advised with a dry cloth to create a sparkling streak free shine. The hob looked great and I was very impressed.
Sink and taps:
I sprayed the cleaner onto the tap and sink area and left it for 30 seconds to encounter its full potential. After rinsing and drying the sink was spotless and so shiny it looked as good as new.
The cleaner can combat greasy surfaces and dirt and leaves a streak- free shine no matter what the surface. I even use this cleaner on the vinyl flooring and the results are great. The floor looks so clean and shiny. This really is a milti-task product.
I purchased this cleaner for
£1.00 when it was on offer at the co-op store but generally (depending where you shop) it usually costs around £2.00. Not bad for a product that does the whole kitchen.
I am completely happy with this cleaner and I will not be using bleach any longer. I am now totally converted to this and I know it will be an essential cleaner in my home from now on. I would definitely recommend this.
I hate, hate, hate , hate , HATE housework but it has to be done and I always look for MR Muscle products to help me out. MR Muscle products really do help take the hard work out of housework and this particular Mr Muscle Multi-Task Kitchen is an absolute god send.
I live alone at the moment but I often have a few friends round for a quiet drink (sometimes not so quiet) and my kitchen becomes the smoking area and in the mornings it tends to look like a bomb has hit it.
MR Muscle multi-task kitchen does everything from cleaning all the surfaces, taps and glass to blitzing the oven and sinks. We often have Asda pizzas and garlic breads so the oven is usually covered in hard baked on cheese that has found its way off the pizzas during heating. No problem to MR Muscle it removes all oven grime with the greatest of ease.
It is a bit more expensive than most other cleaners but it is well worth the money as it really does do everything and it does it very well. I paid £2.35 for a 750ml bottle from asda when I last bought it, you only need a little at a time unless there are some serious stains to be dealt with so a bottle this size lasts a while.
The warnings on the bottle are just typical of any cleaning product, keep away from children, In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately and wash hands after use.
I have quite sensitive skin but using this has never affected my hands in any way but you could always use rubber gloves if it were to. I highly recommend this cleaning product, it will make your life just that little bit easier and who doesn't want that?
I picked this up when on special offer as I am a sucker for anything that promises to clen my Kitchen with little or no effort on my part and according to the packaging will clean Glass, sink , Taps greasy hobs and all to streak free shine.
Well it does work and pretty well and was excellant on burnt on stains I would get it again if on special offer but Iprefer my lemon cif as not only cleans well also smels lovely as well.
As stated it is a good product but not any better than many others on the market stubborn stains or marks still require a fair amount of elbow grease so no fast and speedy do it for you product which is a shame I would recomend buying something cheaper as will still do the same job personally Bicorbante of soda is a very cheap and really effective cleaning product.
Mr Muscle Multi Task
I have absolutely no loyalty to any cleaning products and when i found this on special offer at my local bargain store, I decided to give it a whirl. The fact that it promises to clean all of my surfaces from "greasy hobs to glass" to a shine is obviously tempting.
**Product and Packaging**
The product comes in a blue plastic 750ml bottle with the usual Mr muscle logo on the front and the instructions and information(pictures and writiing) on the back.. There is even a nice little diagram showing me how to open the pray nozzle, which really consists of just turning it from the off to the on position.
So, because the bottle is blue, it appears that the product itself will be blue. Not so- that would be silly because then I would be trying to wipe away blue liquid from the glass. The product is clear and sprays out in an even mist, and doesn't come out in clumps, so it's really easy to spray it evenly across surfaces. It does have a kind of disinfectant smell which I would expect from a cleaning product, although it doesn't claim to contain bleach. There is a little aside at the bottom of the bottle saying that it contains perfume so i assume the perfume is cleaning product aroma.
Being a multi tasker, i expect this to make some big promises and it doesn't fail! It will apparently clean kitchen surfaces, and can be used on hobs, sinks and taps and glass (picyure of a microwave oven). The glass it claims to clean with a clean streak free shine and it also claims to be tough enough to remove dirt and grease.
A tall order but if it really does work then I need only use this, and not carry several bottles with me when I go on cleaning duty around the house.
***Price and Availability**
I bought this from my local bargain store for the princely sum of £1 which is very cheap for any Mr Muscle product. I would expect the RRP to be around double this. It is widely available in supermarkets but there are obviously bargains to be had so it's worth looking around.
The usual cleaning product warnings:
* Keep away from children
* Don't breath the spray
* In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately
* Wash hands after use
It's made by SC Johnson Ltd, camberley. GU16 7AJ
Check out the website www.scjohnson.co.uk for information about all of the other products if you have an ineterest in that kind of thing!
An excellent product which really does what it says it will. I did have my doubts that it would leave glass and mirrors streak free but it seems it does just that. The cleaner is easy to use and when I use it, it's the only bottle I need to carry with me although I carry a selection of cloths. I would recommend wearing rubber gloves becauseit can be quite drying, but all in all the product requires no special products to go with it. It cleans, makes the place smell as though it has been cleaned and is one of the easiest cleaners I have used.
For everyday cleaning of most surfaces, I would definitely recommend this one.
Thanks for reading.
When it comes to cleaning my kitchen I usually opt for something with bleach in it. However I've ruined so many of my tops by accidently splashing bleach on me that I thought it was time to try something different before I have no clothes left!
I remember Mr Muscle from my childhood, in fact it's the only cleaning product apart from Fairy Liquid that I can still remember the adverts for. Everybody knows the adverts, with the skinny guy who is everything but 'Mr Muscle'. After being such a long standing brand I decided it was about time I gave it a try.
So next time I was at the supermarket I bought a large trigger spray bottle of the 'Multi-Task Kitchen' for around £1.80. At the time I didn't mind paying that much as it was quite a substantial sized bottle and I thought it would last for quite some time. I also didn't begrudge paying this much because of its 'multi-task' promise. I'm drawn to any product that promises it can clean various types of surface as I don't have the space to store every different kind of cleaner. On the front of the bottle it states it 'cleans to a shine from greasy hobs to glass'. The only thing that it is not recommended for is varnished or wooden surfaces.
The spray bottle itself comes in an attractive dark blue coloured plastic. The bottle is opaque enough so that you can see how much of the spray you have left. What I like most about the bottle is how under the trigger spray the plastic is moulded to the shape of your fingers. This makes it easy to hold, particularly if you have wet hands.
As the bottle holds quite a large amount of liquid the plastic bottle feels sturdy enough that it keeps its shape. This may seem quite a strange thing to say but I have used cleaners before where the bottle can get squashed easily and then crack. However, this bottle does not seem to have that problem.
Despite the majority of the bottle being made out of a strong plastic the same cannot be said for the spray part. This part if made out of a cheaper plastic and feels quite brittle. I wouldn't suggest carrying it by the top as it could quite easily break. The spray has the traditional square shaped nozzle which can be twisted to stop any spray coming out or turned on, which is handy if you don't want any to come out accidentally.
Both the label on the front and back of the bottle are in an contrasting lime green colour with the Mr Muscle logo in bright orange and outlined in black. The rest of the writing on the back of the bottle is in dark navy and because of the lime green it is quite easy to read.
Does it work?
When you pull the trigger spray you get a small puddle of clear coloured liquid that is slightly foamed. From the first spray the room is immediately filled with a horrible smell. It's really difficult to describe this smell as it is a mixture of chemicals and artificial lemons. This smell is particularly pungent and I do not associate it with a fresh and clean kitchen.
To clean a work surface you need at least two or three big sprays and maybe more on your sponge. I have tried using this on various tough stains and it does get rid of them. However I found you still have to apply quite a bit of elbow grease to get things sparkly clean. If you have a particularly stubborn stain it is best to spray a generous amount and leave it for a couple of minutes. The instructions on the back of the pack say to leave for 30 seconds, however in my opinion this is not long enough.
On the whole it does work - however it is not a miracle cleaner and you still have to put a bit of effort in to help it along. The major downside for me is the artificial smell which goes straight up my nose and often makes me sneeze! I think when I get to the end of this bottle I won't be buying Mr Muscle again. I'll stick to my bleach!
I was growing sick of my usual bleachy smelling kitchen cleaner and fancied a change. I wanted a kitchen cleaner that would do a good job but leave a pleasant smell afterwards to greet any visitors to my home.
I'd tried quite a few products but I always found them too bleachy or sometimes they had that awful public toilet lemon scent which sticks in your throat! Not very welcoming!
When I spotted Mr Muscle Lemon Kitchen I immediately assumed it would be just another of those public toilet products but I sprayed a little onto a tissue to have a whiff. I was pleasantly surprised by the clean non-bleachy smell so I decided to give it a try.
When I got home I cleaned my kitchen (I couldn't wait) and the spray made light work of the job. I was pleased it contains antibacterial ingredients so my kitchen was clean AND germ free. And the added bonus was that it had that vital thing I'd been searching for! The smell was very pleasant and not at all overpowering or sickly. Very nice. And it lingered on subtly for quite a while afterwards. I went out with the dog and when I got back I wondered what the pleasant smell was, and then I realised it was my Mr Muscle Lemon Kitchen spray still doing its job. Nice to know that visitors will now be greeted with that smell.
So that's now a regular in my cleaning cupboard. My search is over and my kitchen is clean and smells fresh!
What more could I ask?
We've all seen the Advert..you know the one, wimpy guy whizzing around the kitchen, flexing his imaginary muscles, wielding his trusty squirty thing..minutes later and 'voila'..sparkling clean kitchen and the slogan "Mr Muscle Loves the jobs you hate"..Hmmm..I don' think Mr Muscle is going to be much good with the ironing..or the gardening come to that, however the kitchen is another matter !!
Mr Muscle products are made by the long established S C Johnson, this company has been making products, which they claim to make the average consumer's life easier, for 115 years, as far as I am concerned, the Mr Muscle range is definitely a testament to that statement !
Now, I am not a great cook, in fact I can't cook for toffee, I can't even cook baked beans !!! If anyone walks into my home nearing dinner time, they are unlikely to say "Mmmm something smells nice"..More like.." Errrr something smells..errr interesting !" Which basically translated means "What are you burning for dinner today"..small wonder my other half prefers salads ! Of course burning food leaves a mess, all my saucepans boil over leaving a lovely mess on my hob, and as for the inside of the oven !! I have always bought stores own brand cleaning products, which has proved to be a false economy and normally involves a lot of elbow grease, until Mr Muscle came to my rescue !
At £1.80 for a 500ml bottle (from most good supermarkets) this is not a cheap option, however the cleaning power really is, in my opinion, exceptional.I use the Lemon 'flavour' although the plain one is just as effective. You can't miss the bottle on the shelves, it is bright yellow with a green label and states on the front that it is 'Anti-bacterial' therefore killing bacteria whilst dissolving grease and gunk. Reading all the bumpf on the back, it claims to tackle grease and tough stains effectively leaving your kitchen sparkling clean and smelling of lemons...Mmmmmm. It is recommended for use on Cooker Tops, Sinks and Tiles, and kitchen work surfaces. To be honest I have also tried this on the inside of my oven and the grill and the results exceeded my own expectations.
There are the usual warnings, such as keep out of reach of children, avoid eyes, avoid prolonged skin contact, wash hands after use etc, but the print is rather small,..when I first read them I was somewhat perplexed to see that you should not use them on ' Gold plated fillings'..Oooerr..then when I put my reading glasses on I realised it actually said fittings..Ahhh !
This product is very simple to use..simply rotate the orange nozzle to 'on', spray directly onto the surface that needs cleaning and wipe away with a damp cloth !! For more stubborn stains they recommend you leave for approximately 30 seconds before wiping. You should avoid leaving for any length of time on wooden surfaces, painted surfaces, lacquered or soft, porous surfaces, but note this does not mean you cannot use it on them at all, indeed I use it on most surfaces in the house with good results, you just have to remember to wipe it off straight away. I also use it in the bathroom to good effect.
The spray comes out as a clear liquid with a slight foaming action, but I guess you really want to know 'Does it Work ?"......the answer is a resounding "Yes !!" This is surprising as the product contains no added bleach, I simply follow the instructions and wipe clean, and I mean clean, it really only takes seconds to have a gleaming microwave, sparkling hob and I even use it on my tiled floor, it leaves no residue whatsoever, does not leave any surfaces slippery and leaves the kitchen smelling lovely, I am not so sure that you could really call the smell 'Lemony' in particular, but it is a pleasant, almost floral smell, and it lingers for hours afterwards.
All in all I will have to give this 10 out of 10, for stubborn stains, such as burnt on food on the hob, I simply leave for about a minute, (30 seconds longer than actually recommended) and simply wipe off leaving no trace of grime whatsoever. I was sceptical about the claim it can remove long standing grease stains, but when I used it on my splashbacks I was pleasantly surprised to see that it really did cut through the grease with ease !!!
Overall this product lasts me approximately 4-5 weeks, but remember I actually use it everywhere, including the toilet ! I have since cut down the amount of time I used to spend on scrubbing the kitchen, leaving more 'Me' time, which I am sure other working Mums will appreciate !
So if you really want to cut down on the elbow grease, have sparkling, fresh smelling and bacteria free surfaces I would thoroughly recommend using this.
Oh and one other thing, I have discovered that it also kills pests such as wasps and ants...a truly universal product !!!

So. What would I know about using a kitchen cleaner? Surely that sort of thing is woman's work? I hear you ask. (Well I would've heard you ask if it wasn't for the fact that Mrs P is looking over my shoulder reading this and I'm now suffering from a severe bout of tinnitus due to the almighty wallop inflicted simultaneously upon both lugs).
Of course I do my share of housework - I'm a new man (the old one was a dead loss), so I know as much as the next person about the art of cleaning a kitchen. Especially when the next person is some old dosser featured on Kim and Aggie's 'manky Git' programme.
Today I will mostly be discussing MR MUSCLE (Loves The Jobs You Hate ®) Orange Action All Purpose Cleaner Tough On Kitchen Grease..gasp... or Mr M for short.
Because that's what this category is for and if I reviewed something else, it'd be off-topic now, wouldn't it?
What we have is a 500ml spray bottle with a sort of hand-grip affair in clear plastic so you can see the bright orange, clear liquid therein. If that's not enough packaging description for you, then tough!
Obviously, as this is a household cleaner, there are various warnings concerning its use. Certain surfaces should be avoided for example, and you should avoid spraying it into your eyes (like you need to be told that). It doesn't say anything about not drinking it, but I'd play safe on that one and stick to something like Fanta if you want an orangey refreshment.
I'm not gonna tell you how great this stuff is for cleaning worktops, cooker hobs, tiled surfaces etc. I mean, it IS great at doing that, but then that's what it's made for. Suffice to say it does what it says on the tin...well, the reverse side of the label actually.
When all those crappy ads first appeared on TV telling us about the miracle cleaning powers of oranges, I was sceptical, to put it mildly. I mean, oranges are hardly a new invention are they? So how come it took until the 21st century to discover their miracle cleaning power?
Mr MUSCLE states that it contains "pure orange oil". I'm gonna take a wild guess that it contains a lot more besides though, and things that I probably can't spell, never mind pronounce.
Be that as it may, there's no denying it does the job, and does it well.
I find that a little goes a long way with this stuff too, so it works out quite economical. In fact, it you apply too much, it can be a bit of an effort to get rid of all the suds etc. When you spray it on a vertical surface like kitchen tiles, you can actually watch it wash away the grease, grime and gunge as it runs down the surface. Of course I'm only guessing about that, it's never happened in our immaculately spic-n-span abode!
But as I said, I'm not going to dwell on its grease-cutting abilities, but rather on the reason I'm writing this review.
We have a chain hanging in front of a window which groans under the accumulated weight of various crystal 'objet d'art'. They're all attached in different ways and it can become a bit of a tangle which makes it a nightmare to clean.
Step up Mr M.
I dangled the crystal-adorned chain over the kitchen sink, sprayed a tiny dash on the top of the chain, and a couple of squirts here and there, then let it run down. One quick massage 'twixt thumb and forefinger and a rinse under the tap later, and it was hung out to dry.
A kaleidescopic cornucopia of reflection, refraction and downright incandescent illumination. Shiny, even. I've never seen these crystals looking so sparkly...not even when they were new.
Was I impressed? - You betcha.
When I think of the time and effort we used to put into trying to wash or polish those pesky crystals; the resulting tangle and the curse-laden effort of disembroiling them; not to mention the unsatisfactory results, I could weep. But since I'm not a big girly, I don't - hey! just because I wear pink marigolds and a floral apron, it don't mean nuthin'...I still stand up to pee.
In conclusion, this stuff is BRILL!
Granted, it's not as brill as a Belgian ale, but then what is?
It's incredibly easy to use, extremely efficient, economical (a 500ml bottle is well under 2 quid), and it even smells nice!
Why, you don't have to just clean kitchens with it either - it'll damn near clean anything.
Oh, and it's anti-bacterial too.
Well I decided that the kitchen needed a thorough ?spring? clean. Worktops, tiles, cupboards inside and out ? the lot! I had a feeling that hot water and Fairy may need a little help especially around the cooker hob. I needed something with a grease cutting edge. So I went looking on the supermarket shelves. I plumped for Mr Muscle Lemon Kitchen cleaner ? I had been impressed with their oven cleaner so maybe this would be good too. It comes in a bright yellow 500ml spray bottle with finger shaped grips at the top. I found this easy to hold despite having small hands ? a big plus point for me! The gun spray is easy to operate too, not being too stiff, and has a nozzle which can be turned on and off. The liquid sprays out very easily and it doesn?t come out too fast so that you can use just a little or with more sprays a lot ? much better than a large amount being dispensed with each squeeze. This is supposed to be a lemon cleaner but although there is a fragrance I?m not sure whether it can be described as lemon. The fragrance does not linger very long, which suits me just fine, but for those of you who like fragrances you may be disappointed. Cost wise this one was £1.85 from my local Co-op. Well does it do the job? Yes it does. I found that it cuts through grease and grime on all hard surfaces and it did a very good job on my cooker hob that was in dire need of attention. You simply spray the liquid onto the surface to be cleaned and wipe it around and then clean off. On more stubborn marks you leave it to work for a while before wiping off. The only downside is that the liquid is very watery and therefore is not that brilliant on vertical surfaces, so I just squirted it on my cloth and cleaned the tiles that way ? seemed to do just as good a job! The spray is anti-bacterial so leaves your worktops nice and clean. It also states that it dissolves grease and kills bacteria. Well it definitely dissolves grease and I will have to take Johnso
n?s word for the fact that it kills bacteria! The back of the bottle does say that it leaves kitchen surfaces sparkling clean with a fresh lemon scent. Yes they are nice and sparklingly clean, but the lemon scent ? mmm not so sure. Perhaps I didn?t use enough, as I tend to be a bit miserly where cleaning products are concerned, however I did use enough to do the job! There are warnings on the back about avoiding prolonged contact with wood, enamel, aluminium and painted, lacquered or soft porous surfaces and don?t use n gold plated surfaces! I used it on my kitchen cupboards (supposedly wood!) and they came up really well, but I did make sure I rinsed them afterwards. Now I did wear my rubber gloves whilst I was cleaning so I can't comment on how it affected my hands. So, this is a good kitchen cleaner, cuts through grease and is very easy to use. But I don?t think it has a very lemony fragrance! That is its only downside though and if you can do without the scent then I?d recommend it! Subsequently when my lemon one ran out I decided to try the ?ordinary? cleaner, which didn?t have a fragrance. This comes in a bottle identical to that above except that it is white (I think that is a contradiction in terms ? oh well, come back Murray Walker all is forgiven!). The price had remained the same at £1.85 in my local Co-Op, although I suspect those of you who shop at Asda and the like may well be able to pick this up cheaper. The first time I used this product I was taken aback by the smell. Now I know this one isn?t fragranced, but now I know why they bought out the lemon (and now orange) ones. It was horrible, not even a disinfectant smell ? just yukky. It is so awful that I even contemplated throwing it away and going to buy the lemon one again, but then sense prevailed and as we are not rolling in spare cash I decided that I would have to use it up. Bearing in mind that this spray is used to clean kitchen surfaces, where
food is prepared I think the smell could be less stringent. It tends to get stuck at the back of your throat if you accidentally breathe any in. Yes I know you should try not to, but my arms are only so long. The actual smell almost makes me heave! I know I was not a fan of the lemon fragrance in my original review, but it is far better than this one! Cleaning wise I don?t think this plain cleaner is quiet as good as the lemon one. I actually think the lemon one is a better grease cutter, but there is really very little in it I suppose. I can safely say, though, that when this bottle is finished I will not buy another! Back to the lemon for me ? I would try the orange one though, so maybe another update will appear in due course.
