Why Mr Muscle Window & Glass Cleaner

In my last few reviews I've covered the cleaning products that I use in my home and caravan, I've shared my opinions and recommendations on the products I use on my kitchen worktops, my bathroom and wooden surfaces and whilst a few of these products have been 'multi-purpose' and are promoted as being able to clean glass surfaces I have found in reality that they don't clean glass or mirrors at all well and tend to always leave streaks or smears behind. As I have a glass shower door at my caravan and a couple of mirrors and, of course, windows that need cleaning it stood to reason that I would have to buy a product designed specifically for glass so along with all the kitchen cleaners, polishes and dusters in my cleaning cupboard I have this product; Mr Muscle's Window & Glass Cleaner.

What is it?

Sold in a 500ml trigger spray plastic bottle this is Mr Muscle's Window and Glass cleaner with vinegar 'for a streak-free shine'. The liquid cleaner is green in colour and, according to the bottle has been formulated to 'cut through grease and grime effectively , without smearing' and 'leaves all glass surfaces smear free and sparkling clean. The directions for use recommend that a liberal spray is directed onto the surface you want to clean and wiped off using a clean cloth or piece of kitchen towel. The cleaner has quite a pungent smell to it, the vinegar is definitely noticeable and is combined with a powerful-smelling chemical aroma which is very strong and rather acrid on the nostrils and not at all pleasant really.
In Use

As mentioned I have a glass shower door which I clean on a daily basis after having a shower so do tend to use this product pretty much every day. I find that it does clean glass on there well and does leave behind a shine and sparkle once wiped off and allowed to dry, an added bonus of this is that it also brings up the metal trim of my shower door and leaves that looking shiny too. On mirrors it's excellent and really does leave them looking sparkling and clean and I do find that it doesn't leave any smears behind which I used to find when I used a standard 'multi purpose' cleaner. On glass windows I think the product is a little trickier to remove but I put that down to the size of the windows I have and a serious lack of patience from me when it comes to cleaning them anyway. I'm all for quick and easy jobs, contrary to what you would believe given the amount of cleaning products I actually own I don't exactly relish the thoughts of having to clean and can't say that I enjoy doing it but there are certain tasks that have to be done so I try to buy products specifically designed for their intended purpose and on the whole there's nothing apart from the really strong smell of the cleaner to complain about with this product from Mr Muscle.

I don't think it's any better than the old fashioned method of water, vinegar and newspaper in all honesty but as I don't buy newspapers I find that this is a convenient product that does the job well and whilst I do think it smells very harsh it's not something that takes a long time to wipe on and off and I do tend to use it in well-ventilated areas anyway. I find that it only takes a few squirts from the bottle to cover a good sized area and a 500ml bottle can last me a few weeks, it's used primarily on my shower door and mirrors and for those areas it's great, glass windows are always a pain to clean I think so this is used on them when I can muster up enough enthusiasm to want to clean them and again it does leave the glass looking clean with a nice shine.

Overall

Price wise you can expect to pay around £2.00 for a 500ml bottle and it can be found in all the major supermarkets and sometimes features on offer. It's a five star product in terms of how it cleans and leaves glass surfaces looking but the smell of it is very off-putting and harsh so I'm deducting a point from my rating because of that. Four stars is still excellent though and overall I would recommend this product for any glass or mirrored surfaces you may have in your home. Recommended. Thanks for reading my review.
