Mr Muscle Window & Glass Cleaner
Advantages: Excellent results, goes a long way
Most of my 'cleaning' cupboard is spray or wipe-based. To me, they are the least labour-intensive approaches to housework!
This Mr Muscle Window & Glass comes in a clear plastic bottle with a thin green liquid inside, and a white and orange trigger on top. The bottle is moulded at the neck to make notches for your fingers - it does make it very easy to hold and use the trigger with one hand. The nozzle is protected by rotating the end of the nozzle, it says "on" and "off" embossed into the plastic. It isn't very clear whether it's on or off, you do need to look quite carefully. If you squeeze the trigger while it's turned to off, the spray obviously doesn't come out, but when you realise that, and rotate to "on", the liquid you squoze previously seeps out and dribbles down your fingers. Not ideal. The "instructions" are printed on the back of the main label, which you read through the back of the bottle, through the liquid - illustrating how light and transparent the liquid is.
However, once you're up and running, this cleaner really does its job. I usually use kitchen towel with it, one squeeze of the spray and a wipe with the kitchen towel and the surfaces come up sparkling, no need for a polish/buff afterwards. It dries immediately and leaves no streaks or marks, it really is a case of spray on, wipe off, job done, and it smells lovely and fresh.
You don't need to use much - for example my dining table is about 1.2m circular and one good spray is enough to clean that.
For me though this is really a multi-purpose cleaner, not just glass. Any shiny surfaces it does a brilliant job - my kitchen worktops are gloss finish, and they look gleaming if I finish them off with this, and also my plastic window sills come up like new after a spray of this. I also use it on bedside tables which have a laminate finish, and my coffee table is a type of faux-leather which it also works great on. Obviously mirrors also come up beautifully, no streaks.
It contains vinegar which is apparently why it's so effective on glass, but the smell is nice and fresh (not vinegary!) - not that you should be inhaling, obviously!
It's not cheap, it's over £3 a bottle for 500ml, although I know the last one I bought was on offer and it lasts a long time, so I consider it good value for how good a product it is.
Summary: Brilliant cleaning product for lots of surfaces, makes cleaning routine quick, easy & effective.
