I stupidly bought 2 cream fabric sofas when my daughter was 1 years old, she has now been joined by a sister who is 14 months old. My sofa's aren't in great condition now (as you can imagine) so when I've saved up some money I will definitely be buying leather sofa's. My old workplace used to have leather sofa's and after work I sometimes would run the hoover round the room and then give the sofa's a quick wipe over with these wipes. -- The Packaging -- The wipes are packaged in red plastic with a tab which you peel back to get the wipes out. On the label it has the Mr Sheen wording in bold white lettering which stands out and a picture of a leather sofa on it and it clearly states that these are wipes for cleaning leather. On the packaging it informs you that the wipes contain extracts of lanolin which is meant to condition leather and make it more supple. It is wise to close the tab firmly and store the wipes face down in the cupboard as otherwise the tab could open and then it dries out the wipes. -- How to use & Results -- These are very simple to use, simply peel back the label and take out a wipe and run it over the surface of the sofa. It shows where you have wiped, but this soon dries and leaves the sofa looking clean and shiny. (It's surprising how dirty leather sofa's get, you can see the results by looking at the wipe when you have finished using it!) On the packet it says that this is suitable to use on your leather goods and furniture, such as jackets, sofa, shoes, and leather bean bags etc. I have only used them on sofa's so cannot comment on how they perform on other products. -- Price and Availability -- I used to buy these wipes from ASDA and they still stock them. Last time I checked they cost £2.54 for a packet of 30 wipes which works out as 8.5p per wipe. -- Overall Summary -- This may not be the cheapest way of cleaning your leather sofa but in my opinion this is the quickest, easiest way of doing so. I would recommend this product. Thanks for reading.
Mr Sheen Leather Polish Wipes So having been kindly given a second-hand leather suite - I found it needed a good clean. I was rather dreading this but had noticed these wipes in the supermarket and thought I'd give them a go. I Purchased them for £3 and got to work! Appearance The packaging really caught my eye and stands out well in my cleaning cupboard. The seal seems good too for keeping the wipes moist (nothing worse than when the seal is no good and when you go to use the product - they are all dry!) My Experiences I'm pleased to say I was very impressed! It made what I thought would be a long and tiresome job a breeze! The dirt was just literally lifting straight off. I found these covered a really good area before becoming either too dirty or too dry to continue. I was also really pleased with the aroma, the wipes smell really good. I did find I got through the whole pack (but it was very grubby) and was somewhat wary of having to pay out the same amount every time I cleaned the suite. But, luckily - next time round from memory it took only 5 wipes Suffice to say, I always have these in the cupboard now and would certainly recommend these to anyone else. Why bother with water and cloths and then wiping it dry when a handy package of wipes like this will do the job so effortlessly :) Would I recommend Mr Sheen Leather Polish Wipes? Yes, they are great because they are fast, effortless and great smelling! Thanks for reading please rate and leave a comment :) @IzzyInTheHouse *Also Posted On Ciao under the same name*
One of the reasons our three year old leather sofa stills looks as good as new is because I have been rather loyal and only used these Mr Sheen specialist wipes for leather on it. I have of course used other products on it as well but these are the only wipes that I use. The wipes are also suitable for use on other leather goods and I do use them on our beds headboard but other than that the main use is the sofa. You get 24 wipes per packet and the retail around the £2 mark. They are rather damp when you first remove one from the packet and it is important to make sure the seal on the packet is back in place other wise they will dry out over time. These really are effective at removing dust and any marks that the sofa may have accumulated, they are excellent for bringing out the colour of the leather, our sofa and chairs are black, and also the conditioning qualities of these wipes is very good and they leave the leather feeling refreshed with a nice shine to it. They do have a strong furniture polish smell to them so you know you have used them from both the smell and look of your sofa which is great for getting any odours out of the furniture. The leather dries out quickly so it is soon ready to be sat upon without anything getting on your clothes. These are so easy to use and they do not require a lot of effort to use them and they can be disposed of straight into the bin, I find I need a couple of wipes to do my sofa. I would certainly recommend these and they are a brand you can trust.
It's all well and good zooming around the house with my Mr. Sheen furniture polish, but how was I supposed to clean my leather sofa?? Mr. Sheen to the rescue again, I found these Mr. Sheen Leather Furniture Wipes and just had to give them a go. ~What Mr. Sheen says about his wipes~ Mr. Sheen Leather Wipes are the quick and convenient way to clean and shine your leather goods and furniture. They are specially designed to remove dust and dirt to reveal leather's natural sheen and suppleness. Leather is left feeling clean and conditioned. ~Mr. Sheen Specialist Wipes For Leather~ These wipes come in a plastic packet which is designed with the usual Mr. Sheen coloring, in the pack I got 24 furniture wipes, which were of very good quality and smelt highly of furniture polish. I have a large 3 seated, double reclining cream leather settee and a large reclining cream leather chair, so you can imagine how quickly they start to look grubby. These wipes were just what I needed to sort them out. The wipes were quite damp as I took one from the packet I noticed they were a lot more moist than I expected them to be, which I guess was a good thing, as I think any sort of wipes don't take long to dry out by which time they're not a lot of use. So I made sure to seal the packet after I'd taken a wipe out. First thing I did was try the wipe at the back of the chair just in case the wipes marked it or discolored it in any way, the wipe had done no damage so I proceeded to wipe over the chair, starting at the top and working my way down and around the arms of the chair, putting the chair into the reclined position so it was easier to reach in the creases. I could see a difference in the color of the chair more or less straight away, I could definitely see where I had wiped and where I hadn't, to clean the chair totally with these wipes I think I used about 3 of them in all, which I don't suppose is that bad. The settee I did in the same way but obviously used far more wipes. The wipes did make my hands feel rather greasy, maybe I should have worn rubber gloves but I really couldn't be bothered as it took me a while to clean both items of furniture and I didn't want sweaty hands whilst I was doing it.. My hands smelt very strongly of furniture polish and I had to give them a good scrub afterwards to get rid of the smell. However the wipes didn't do me any harm as regards rashes or adverse effects, I just simply had to give my hands a good wash. ~Results~ I was happy with the results from using these wipes, my leather furniture shone and looked very clean, almost like new, and didn't take long to dry, in fact they were dry almost instantly and felt very soft and supple and the usual Mr. Sheen smell was a nice touch too. I will be buying these wipes again because I think, along with a little elbow grease they bring up my furniture beautifully. ~Other information~ Mr. Sheen Leather Wipes can be used on leather goods such as sofas, chairs, bean bags, car seats, handbags, luggage, jackets and shoes. On antique leather surfaces it's recommended that you consult a furniture specialist before use. Do not use on suede. Do not use on carpets, upholstery or any other fabrics. Excessive rubbing may damage the surface. These wipes are for use in the home, not for personal use. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek medical advice immediately and show the label. Keep out of the reach of children. I got my wipes from Tesco and they cost me £2.00 for a pack of 24. I'm giving these Mr. Sheen Leather Furniture Wipes 4 stars, they are good but not perfect. Thank you for reading my review which may also be posted on other sites.
Using any sort of wipes is going to be a hit and miss. I have spent a fortune on branded wipes for all sort of furniture items and some have been terrible and expensive. Recently I got some Mr Sheen leather wipes. I have many leather seats in my home ranging from computer chairs to the normal sofas and sometimes they need a good clean to make them look fresh and shiny again. I got these in a packet which is sealed and they are similar to how you might find baby wipes. They are in a small packet which can be closed after usage. There is 24 inside a pack and they are priced around £2.50. You pull one out and this cloth is kind of think and has a light moisture level to them and you just wipe down your leather item and it leaves behind a nice smell. The sort of smell you associate with other Mr Sheen products. You see that stubborn little marks come up as well such as when my animals lick the sofa and you see these silly marks. The reason I would use this compared to say baby wipes or a damp cloth is partially because the people who sold me the sofa told me that the leather would be effected. I see how these work and the best way to use them is with a bit of elbow grease and plenty of wiping because some people just use one quickly then another and my one cloth managed to do a 2 seater leather sofa without drying out. This helps protect the sofa and it removes dirt and dust and those crumbs we find hidden down the sides sometimes. I have used these in the car before and they work pretty well in there but you hardly notice the same effects as you do inside the home. I found within my home it gave the sofa a nice shiny look and about 10 minutes later the smell went and so did the shine but at least the sofa was clean. I think the price does not help these sell that much. You can have supermarket own brands which I admit offer little smell and have some terrible cloths but they offer similar results. I much prefer the spray I use on the leather sofa as this can be used and keep a refreshing smell for longer. They do clean and they do have a nice smell but neither lasts for long and for the price that is not good enough.
I use to just clean my leather sofa with a damp cloth and warm water, but when I saw these wipes on offer for £1 in Asda I thought I would give them a go and see what the difference is. The pack I bought contained 24 wipes but when you pull out a wipe there is a line down the middle where they are little holes so you can seperate into two so if you wanted to use a miniuim amount you could seperate them and treat it as two wipes. We have two three seater sofas and I normally find I need about four whole wipes for each sofa and after a couple of seconds wiping you can see the wipe drying out quickly. I don't find they get rid of stains exceptionally well, when I have been feeding my baby on the sofa and a bit of milk is spilt I have used the wipes and you have to have a really good scrub with them! I just use a cloth and water now it gets rid of it straight away! The end result is good and you can see your sofa gleaming with a shine to it, the scent of the wipes isn't exactly appealing but it doesn't stay on the sofa so it won't put your guests off!
My other half has a lovely car, it really is his pride and joy, its beautiful, clean and leather seated. However we have a toddler and toddlers and clean rarely go hand in hand. My partner cleans the car religiously once a week and uses a very expensive cleaner for the seats. However a couple of weeks ago we went on holiday 'down south' and did not have enough room in the car for all the cleaning stuff (he has a lot) so I picked up a packet of leather wipes £3 for 24, a bit expensive but Mr sheen is a reputable company and I do tend to pay for 'quality'. The wipes come in a very handy pack and are easily stored in the dash. The wipes themselves have a fairly thick density, (about twice the thickness of baby wipes) and are fairly moist. They have the fresh origional mr sheen smell which I love! Using the wipes is fairly easy, you just give your chair sofa etc a gentle wipe over and hey presto. because the wipes are fairly tough, they can get rid of stains easily with a little elbow grease and wont fall apart. Many people i know tend to use baby wipes to wipe over thier leathers, this is highly unrecommended by the people in the leather industry as it can cause more harm than good to your leather. Baby wipes can have a 'dry out' effect which causes the leather to loose its shine. Controversially, some 'experts' dont reccomend these types of wipes either. I however have to agree with the experts, although the wipes are handy to keep in the car, for those inevitable accidental spills on the motorway, or out and about etc or in the house next to your sofa incase of the accidental spill. However we found (though not as bad) they had a similar efffect to using baby wipes. All in all a good product to keep to hand incase of the accidental spill on your leather, but I would strongly reccomend a good clean with a a manufacturers reccommended as leather does need to be conditioned and cleaned to help restore its transparent protective layer (I think thats what the shine is...well thats what i have been told by him in doors!). The other down side to this product is the price, I have now found some supermarket own brand products at half the cost and even though they are not as effective and dont have the 'Mr Sheen' smell which i love are almost as good as the Mr Sheen ones for those inbetween wash days!!
