I like to keep my home smelling clean and fresh and also my carpets, with 2 cats, one long haired, its a daily battle against fur on the carpet never mind keeping them smelling fresh. I wanted a product that I could use whilst hovering to save time. I have tried Shake n Vac in the past and wasn't too impressed so when I spotted Neutradol Carpet Odour Destroyer in my local pound shop I decided to give it a try but didn't hold out too much hope.
Neutradol is a powdery substance sold in a cardboard tub with a white plastic flip up lid. The tub is a bright green colour and has the Neutradol logo across the front, it also informs the customer that this is the "worlds number 1 deodorizer" and will leave your carpets with a "just cleaned freshness". The front of the tub also states that Neutradol also works in refuse bins, it has an active deodorizer and destroys bad smells.
The back of the tub gives a statement about Neutradol, the directions for use and warns that children and pets should be removed from the area when its used.
To use the product is easy enough, simply shake or sprinkle the powder lightly and evenly over the carpet, leave for a few minuets and then vacuum. The powder is a creamy/beige colour and slightly grainy.
I had given the Neutradol powder a quick sniff in the tub before I used it and the smell was extremely strong, its floral but so strong that it hit the back of my throat.
The day I tried my Neutradol I made sure my cats were out of the room and Mark had taken Jayden out. I flipped open the tub, held it at an angle as the instructions state and sprinkled a light even layer over my carpet, I then left it for a few minuets to do its deodorizing before I vacuumed it up. To be honest I couldn't wait to do this as the smell was really getting to me, its extremely perfumed.
I waited the required time and then vacuumed, the powder hoovered up easily and when I had finished there were no grains left in the carpet, I did give my carpet a really good vacuum and went over it a couple of times to make sure it was all gone.
When I had finished my room still smelt very strongly of the Neutradol, I could almost taste it. I went out to meet up with mark and Jayden hoping it would have faded before we got back. When I got home the smell had faded to a pleasant level and the room smelt lovely, clean fresh and floral.
I could smell the Neutradol for several days after I had used it but it was fading all the while. I was pleased with the results from this product, my carpet smelt fresh and clean.
I bought my Neutradol from my local pound store and to be honest I haven't seen it anywhere else, I am going to buy this while they have it in stock as I think it really does freshen the carpet up.
My only negative point is the strength of the fragrance whilst using it, in my opinion it needs to be less strong apart from this its ideal.
This product may seem a little 1980's nonetheless, my kitchen cupboard is always kept stocked with a can.
Neutradol is a vac and clean carpet freshener. The can resembles a small Pringles tube but don't try and eat the contents! Each can contains 350g of Neutradol powder. To use you you sprinkle powder from the tube on to your carpet, leave it a few minutes then hoover it up.
I buy the super fresh fragrance which comes in a green tube. Neutradol also sell an original fragrance however I always find the super fresh in store you can pick this up from B&M's for 99p. I believe its also stocked in pound land if you prefer.
Neutradol vac n clean is marketed as a carpet odour destroyer but you can also use it in your bin to banish stinky whiffs. To use this in your bins you simply sprinkle some of the powder into your bin and it's odour destroying properties will start to work their magic.
Its got a strong smell and does smell a bit powdery but the scent is a clean one which certainly beats cigarette smoke or any other stinky whiffs in my book.
I use this each time I hoover. Once applied to your carpet the smell disperses so isn't overly powerful.
I find the clean fresh smell lingers for a few hours after hoovering leaving the room smelling like new. Be careful when sprinkling as the powder can come out very quickly just a light sprinkle is all that is needed.
This product does contain perfumes so be cautious if you suffer from allergies.
Being a smoker this product is now a must for me. This is far superior than the old shake and vac it doesn't try and mask smells it does destroy them and leaves behind a clean fresh scent. I would highly recommend if you are a smoker or well just a bit stinky.
==Neutradol Carpet Odour Destroyer Original==
Me being a Shake 'n Vac oholic, I love it! But the only thing is that a 500g tub lasts a couple of uses in our house, but it seems a waste just to sprinkle it on the floor & hoover it up! Despite this too, Shake 'n Vac is a very light powder that at times can be hard to pick up, resulting me in getting down on my hands & knees with the floor tool attached to the hose with a lot more force added, but it WILL come up! (eventually) I decided from then on that I will have to abandon Shake 'n Vac for the time being, & try a different approach for a fresh carpet.
1001 Carpet Fresh: Well this product is now finally on the 1001 website & needs a vacuum to remove it from the carpet, unlike it's older brother of whom you just spray on & leave! Anyway this smells nice & retails at Poundland & costs a £1 for a 400g tub. This smells nice & is heavier than Shake 'n Vac, meaning it vacuums easier. The only thing wrong with it is that it dosen't eliminate odours, but neither does shake 'n vac!
Bloome: This was in the 99p store & was a bargain for a 600g tub, unfortunately the 'you get what you pay for' gimmick really comes into it's own! I sprinkled this & vacuumed it up straightaway, (well, I tried to anyway!) It wouldnt suck up no matter how much effort I put into it. So I got a mini turbo tool, attached it to the hand grip & spent half an hour vacuuming up the powder from the hallway alone! It smelt like sour lemons & didnt last long! If you're wandering what happened to the rest of it, it went in the wheelie bin, but I sprinkled it in there & it freshened the bin a little bit.
Neutradol Carpet Odour Destroyer Super Fresh (green): This was on special offer at Morrisons for 75p for a 350g tub, which then only had the green variant there. When I sprinkled it onto the carpet it was heavy but easy to vacuum up. The only problem with that was the smell! I had to open windows all through the day & still then the scent was strong! It worked though, & odours were gone! But I couldnt use it anymore! It was so strong. But, when I saw the Original Version, I had to try that!
Neutradol was the first odour destroyer that was introduced to the air freshener market. Labratory tests confirm that Neutradol 100% completely removes odours from the air & carpet. Apparently they have become THE BEST & THE NO.1 specialist in bad odour treatment. Neutradol is available in Carpet Freshener, Air Freshener, Gel Fresheners, Vacuum Bag/Dust Container Deodorisers & Fabric Fresheners. If you have ever been in pub toilets they more than likely have Neutradol Gel Fresheners sitting on top of the toilet, but the toilets do smell fresh though unlike the stale smell of pee!
==Whats it like???==
Neutradol Carpet Odour Destroyer Original stands tall in a blue tub with the product name & purpose on the front, with a pop up spout to release the powder. On the back there is directions for use, cautions & Neutradols contact details. All in all the product stands out in the shelves & is easy to see.
Neutradol claim that even though it can be used on carpets it can also be used in refuse bins. I used the Super Fresh variant for this & all odours are destroyed in the bin so it wont smell stale! To use on carpets you hold the bottle slighty inclined (you hold the top half of the can just above the bottom half of the can) & sprinkle over the carpet. Leave for a few minutes & vacuum up. The fragrance once it is on the carpet smells nice & fresh & is not as strong as the Super Fresh Variant. I left it on for a few minutes & vacuumed it up. I was done in five minutes! It was so easy to vacuum up as its heavy & dosent stick to every single fibre of the carpet unlike Shake 'n Vac. It vacuums up easily on Low Pile, Medium Pile & Deep Pile & vacuums up easily with a cylinder or an upright vacuum. The smell lasts a while on the carpet & I dont need to open any windows either!
I have found my Carpet Freshener now! It's not strong, smells fresh, removes odours & dosent try to choke you! It also vacuums up easily & the smell lasts a while after! Plus it's generally priced between 80p-£1 for a 350g tin/tub. Anyway give it a try because you might be pleasantly surprised! Copyright BrookieFan99 2012

We all hate bad smells and when you have pets in the house such as cats and dogs which can of course omit odours. Personally, I hate walking into a house and smelling that 'pet' smell although I own both cats and dogs I still cannot stand the pet odour that can appear. Therefore, I try my absolute hardest to keep my house pet odour free by making sure it is as clean as possible whether it means the kitchen cupboards are clean or the carpets have been washed. I'd hate for people to come into my home and be disgusted by the 'pet' smell just as I would be by walking into someone else's home and smelling it.
The carpeted areas in the house are frequented mostly by the dogs and cats and although I have my carpets regularly washed (I did invest in a carpet washer!) it is not something I can do on a weekly basis however much I'd like to. Therefore, to keep them fresh I have tried a variety of carpet products that all claim to keep them fresh and to reduce odours. Some work and some don't but one product I use on a fairly regular basis is the Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer in the Spring Fresh variety (it also comes in 'original') as I can pick it up quite cheaply and I do find it does a fairly good job.
The main job of the Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer is to bring freshness to your carpet whilst cleaning at the same time. It promises to get rid of odours such as pets, tobacco and kitchen smells. Fortunately no one in the household smokes and the kitchen doesn't smell so it is simply used for the pet odours which there are none as they are kept at bay but I find it a good product to use just to keep the carpets fresher for longer in between using the carpet washer. You can also use it to deodorize bins, you simply just sprinkle in your bin and on the bin liner to help reduce those odours too which is a good idea.
The Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer Spring Fresh comes in a tall, circular metal canister which is green in colour with the Neutradol logo on together with the usage instructions as well as the warnings. The packaging is pretty simple but is a brilliant shade of green so easily noticeable on the shelf - which you will find within the cleaning products area of a supermarket or discount store. Generally the size of the canister is 350g but at times you can get larger canisters promoting a certain percentage free. The top is a simple design as you flip it open and then there is a plastic section with circular holes in which obviously prevents the whole lot coming out all at once.
To use you simply open the top and gently sprinkle over the carpet giving an even coverage, you don't need to use the whole canister on one small area of carpet. They advise to leave it for a few minutes to sink in before you vacuum. Once left for a few minutes you simply vacuum as normal. Not a hard product to use and I do find that because I have quite dark beige coloured carpets I can easily see where I have sprinkled the fine white powder which is great as I don't use more than I have to and therefore it makes one canister last a little bit longer which as I use it regularly is great!
There certainly is nothing special about this product despite it being the spring fresh variety it may have a fresher scent then the original variety the spring fresh smell certainly does remind you of an old fashioned cleaning product, it has a very distinct smell which for some reason makes me think of my grandmother's house! The powder is quite fine and is therefore easily vacuumed, if like me you own a Dyson you can see just how much you end up vacuuming up as your normal greyish coloured dust suddenly turns white! It doesn't take much vacuuming for the white powder to disappear so you won't need to go over the same area over and over again - that's if you have a decent vacuum which works effectively.
As I can't quite tell whether my carpet is clean or not (if I went over the carpet with my carpet washer straight away after vacuuming I'm sure I'd be able to tell but I'm not that specific about my cleaning!) I can't really advise whether it does manage to clean the carpet like it says but I can advise that the Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer does manage to leave a cleaner aroma lingering around for quite sometime after vacuuming which is actually quite pleasant as it is quite a subtle fresh fragrance. I have also noticed that the next time I come to vacuum the same fragrance although not quite as strong when it is first used is still there so clearly my Dyson doesn't pick up every single fragment but its nice that my carpet is refreshed again without having to re-sprinkle!
Overall, I can't say that this product would work miracles on carpets that really do stink but for those that are regularly vacuumed and washed then I think this does a good stand in job when you just want to make your carpets smell a little nicer and to get rid of the day to day odours that can build up, especially if you have pets like I do. However, I don't think it would work in badly smelling carpets at all as it just isn't strong enough. The 'spring fresh' aroma won't last for days but it does enough and the aroma will linger for quite a while after you've vacuumed so I can't complain that it hasn't refreshed my carpet. Would I recommend? Yes, I would just as a regular carpet freshening product it does the job but just don't expect miracles. I'm giving 4 stars simply knocking one star off because there is no real way of telling whether it gets your carpet clean or not!

Puppy dog and toddler reeks havoc on my imagined minimalist clutter free calm home in particular my rug not satisfied with wooden floors elsewhere both puppy and toddler like to have little accidents on the rug!
I use 1001 to clean the offending rug but often I feel that my dogs scent is still lingering within the home and that is not what I want to be greeted with when I open my front door.
I am not a fan of highly scented products I prefer natural fresh scents and preferably ones that rid the home of smells rather than add another scent into the mix. I spotted Neutradol carpet freshener on a recent trip to my 99p store I spotted the Neutradol Carpet odour destroyer a quick sniff and the product had a light fresh scent no heavy perfume smell at all.
How to use
Simply stick your favourite tunes on and dance away alternatively you can just shake the product over the rug or carpet not really as much fun!! Once covered I tend to leave mine for a few minutes I imagine the longer you leave the more destroying it does!! You then simply Hoover up and voila!
Cost and stockist
As mentioned I purchased mine from the 99p shop however you can get from all leading supermarkets and will cost between £1.00 and £1.50.
This product destroys odours due to its unique combination of ingredients as opposed to other cleaners which are simply a perfumed cover up, this product is Swiss made and like their wonderful chocolate this is also subject to their wonderful technology and it really works if you want to find out why then buy a tub and study the list of ingredients to me it means my house doesn't smell of wet or dry dig but a nice clean home.
I am also a responsible Dog owner and clear up after my dog and although I use bags before putting into my Bin with once a fortnight emptying it can smell a little rank rather than holding breath and lobbing in as fast as possible I sprinkled some of this in the Bin and odours gone just a clean and fresh smell left Marvellous!
I am fast becoming a fan of neutradol I am impressed as their claims really do work and that their products are not stinky rather they are fresh and natural they are also very reasonably priced and this is a product I will be sticking with as it kills odours is very easy to use and I also feel that it lasts well I tend to do my rug and stairs once a week and that lasts sometimes I go over a week and still the dog smell is not overpowering.
One thing I do a lot of in my house is hovering one of the main reasons is that I have a Chocolate Labrador and his hairs go everywhere. The other reason being I babysit a lot and the little tinkers always tend to leave crumbs on there trails. Once a week I always like to freshen up my carpets, so I tend to use a product that caters just for that.
Neutradol Carpet Odour Destroyer:
"Neutradol is a product of Swiss Technology containing over 50 ingredients which attack bad odours leaving clean, fresh air. The formula is being constantly improved so it will always have the Extra Deodorizing Power that makes Neutradol so different. Neutradol is the original Neutralizer that laboratory tests confirm is the best Deodorizer. It is hygienic and is safe to use in the home - The world's no1 deodoriser"
If you're a pet owner you will know what I mean when I say sometimes more so with dogs you can get that animal like smell on your carpets. Going back a couple of years a go my dad walked in and said "it smells like dog in here" I have always been a clean person, I clean everyday and have scenters on so this did upset me a little. Now ever since once a week I deodorise the carpets in my house from top to bottom!
I have tried many others over the years but the one that seems to last well is the Neutradol, even the next few days after you can still smell it on your carpets. Like I said I do vacuum everyday but now once a week I always go over all the carpets in Neutradol I find that one tub does the whole house. The tubs are normally 350g, however now and then they have special offers for an extra 100g for free.
All you have to do is open the lid and sprinkle over your carpets giving them a light coating. Once you have done that then you leave it for a few minutes. I normally leave it a little longer than a few minutes as I keep my dog outside while I do the carpets I go play ball with him, as he hates being made to go outside!
The contents looks just like talcum powder fine white powder, so if you have light carpets once you sprinkle this on you really can not see where you have sprinkled. But you sure can smell where it has gone. When using this product remember it is not to be put over wet carpets as it all clumps up, so only use on dry carpets only.
This basically is a deodorant for carpets, it doesn't clean any dirt patches it just freshens which is perfect for me and it gets rid of the pet odours perfectly. (Which means no moaning off my dad)
After about 10 minutes the smell off this product is really strong, so normally I open some of the windows. Then all that's left to do is vacuum the contents up, then your left with a super clean aroma coming from your carpets. Me being me I go over twice with my hover as I have light carpets I don't want to miss any of the contents as I wouldn't want my dog laying in any.
Packaging wise you can get this product in the blue container, or the green container the one I have. The green container is much stronger than the blue one. Within the cleaning section I do think this product stands out due to its bright green colour, so you really won't miss it! Once empty the tub is recyclable.
Price and Availability:
You can normally find this in most supermarkets around the £1.89 mark however they always seem to be in my local 99p shop and also Bargain Madness at 99p also.
For me this is a great little product it does everything it claims to do by leaving my carpets fresh. For only £1.00 it does the whole of the carpets in my house which I think is great value for the length it lasts. I would certainly recommend this product for pet owners, and people that wish to give there carpets a freshen up.
Five out of five stars from me.
Thanks for reading :o)
It also states this product is great to get rid of the smells lurking in your bins!
I'm not a great fan of using products like this and I've never shaken and vacced in my life. Neutradol is a product not dissimilar to that promoted by that singing, vacuuming housewife of legendary TV commercial renown.
To me, if your carpets are dirty, you should get them cleaned and try to keep them clean. However, we inhabit the real world and sometimes things happen which require us to try and get rid of a smell.
In the last 2 years we have lost both our dog and our cat - both through old age and both with great regret put down when we judged that their quality of life could no longer justify keeping them going.
A feature of the last few months for each of them was a problem with incontinence. We have oak floorboards throughout the ground floor and white carpet through the entire upstairs. The cat used to be restricted to the kitchen at night and we were able to manage the problem through litter trays and lots of newspaper for when she couldn't quite make it.
With the dog, however, he used to sleep on the bed and when he jumped up needing a wee, I had to jump up too and get him outside quickly. This worked quite well until the last few weeks when gradually he was less and less able to hang on - poor thing.
For the odd accident on the carpet, therefore, I would scoop out as much of the wee as possible straightaway using an old soup spoon and then mop up the residue with kitchen towel before applying a foam carpet cleaner.
Whilst she denies it, I suspect that my wife wasn't always as assiduous in her clean up routine such that I began to notice a smell around areas of the bedroom carpet.
My first port of call was the world wide thingummyjig and I tried a number of home spun remedies involving vinegar primarily - but that made the carpets smell just as bad in a different way, so we bought some Neutradol, it having been recommended by a neighbour.
The product comes in a 350g cardboard sided drum with a metal base and plastic top through which you shake the fine white powder onto the affected area. You then leave it on the carpet for a few minutes and vacuum it off. Importantly you are told not to use it on wet carpets. It supposedly contains over 50 ingredients which together attack bad odours leaving clean fresh air.
The smell really is quite strong and distinctly lemony and although by nature a sceptical individual I had to concede that following its use, the smell of Neutradol did linger and any previous smell was certainly masked.
That said, I strongly suspect that if you clean up properly after an accident, you won't have anything like the same problem. Of course if incontinence isn't the issue, I can see this working quite well as a one-off treatment if you are aware of any nasty whiffs and have folk coming round. That said, it's the kind of smell that just makes me think that somebody is trying to cover up a nasty smell.
We have a half tub left and shouldn't now need it as we have had the carpets cleaned and neither of us has yet got to the stage where we are incontinent. Well, I dribble a bit when I get over-excited, but what the heck = I'm approaching the early stages of senility, so what can you expect?
I note that Neutradol can also be used to freshen bins and that's how we will probably finish it off.
Living in a 3 floor house full of carpet with 2 year old twins I quite often find myself in a few sticky or even smelly situations. The other week one of my boys were ill, vomiting everywhere which of course left an almighty stench so I went on the search of anything and everything that could rid my new carpets of this stale stink. One product in particular came up trumps, 1001 carpet freshener in fact, however I did like a few others.
I came across a green cylinder tin of Neutradol, The Worlds Number one Deodorizer, Carpet Odour Destroyer. The 350g tin, cost me just 99p in the Range, it caught my eye thanks to the colour of the tub, even though I really dislike the colour green it definitely caught my eye on the shelf. The front of the tin tells us it is a 'vac n clean' product, it gives you that just cleaned freshness and it also works in refuse bins, as well as telling us it destroys bad odours - Just what I needed.
Using this product was simple, I had to flip open the 'flap' on the lid and sprinkle it lightly and evenly over my chosen carpet. I then had to leave it, only for a few minutes and vacuum it.
It pours out a bit like talc, an annoying powder that you just have to hoover up, good job it was a vac n clean product eh lol! The 'scent' hits you immediately. A strong and powerful, proper clean smell and very overpowering at first. I could smell it in every room in my 3 floor house. I left it, as advised for just a few minutes and as I was about to hoover it, I was wondering how this powder on the floor was going to get rid of the sicky stink, even though it had completely gone already as all I could smell was this powder wafting up my nose, it certainly woke up my nose hairs!! I hoovered up, making sure there was no powder left on the carpet and I took a huge whiff, the 'stink' had gone and this rather refreshing scent had been left lingering around the house. There was no way this could last though right? Well next morning I woke, expecting to walk downstairs and have the stink hit me with a vengeance, however I was pleasantly surprised when my nostrils were met by a clean fragrance still lingering. I couldn't believe this powder had helped rid that almighty smell. But it sure did!
Yes the smell of this at first is very strong and a little overwhelming but it definitely works in my opinion. It certainly got rid of the bad odour that had settled in my carpet and I would definitely buy this product again even if it is just to 'freshen' up the smell of my home now and then, especially as just a little goes a long way.
I am smelling this as I write and there is no cleaner ,stronger smell I have ever known.
I try not to use it too often, but there are just times when it is called for.Such as smelly accidents or hamsterrs.Dont ask...
I never buy any other brand because this is the same price for double the amount usually.
The carton is light and easy to use, with holes dispersed over the top of the lid to help you shake it evenly.
The smell eradicates animal smell and any other lingering nifty smells.
I have even smelt it the day after I have vacuumed before. And it has to work hard with three children and animals running round the house.
The neutradol comes in a 350g container for less than a pound, and most of the time you can get 50% extra aswell.
Neutradol comes in Original aswell as well as superr fresh and my opinio n is they are both fantastic. So I obviously plummet for whichever one has the extra 50%.
I personally think this blows its competition out of the water on price and quality.
How to use.
Make sure the area is ready to vacuum, open top of the lid.Extremely easy even if you struggle with lids etc.Shake very lightly over the area you are cleaning.Leave for a few minutes and then vacuum over.It should do quite a few turns ,unless you have been over genourous with it,as this is easy to do.
I'm not used to writing reviews on products such as this but we have recently had to use this so thought I would try and give my opinion.
My 2 year old daughter is potty trained but sometimes has 'mishaps' and piddles all over the floor and one such occasion occurred without my knowledge while she was stood watching TV. And she subsequently trampled the wee into the carpet for half an hour before I'd even noticed that she had done it (terrible mother that I am)...so I tried as best I could to mop up what I could, but over the next few days the stench emitting from that area of the carpet was unbelievable.
So my first port of call was a mixture of wash powder and warm water and I spent a few days dabbing at the carpet and soaking it up with towels etc...And I thought I had cracked it. But then we went on holiday for a few days and when we walked through the door on our return, the smell was the first thing we noticed, the carpet being the culprit.
So off we went to our local supermarket - Nettos unfortunately which doesn't stock many different types of carpet deodorizer, and this was all they had, so this is what we got.
On the packet it says 'CARPET ODOUR DESTROYER' in big letters so we were hoping this was our solution. The directions for using on carpets just tells you to sprinkle over the carpet, leave for a few minutes and then vacuum the area. Now with us having a toddler and a nearly toddler, we were a bit reluctant to do it during the day because the floor is usually littered with toys anyway.
So we waited until they were both in bed and thought that because the stench was so bad, we would sprinkle and leave over night...but we soon realised that this was not a good idea. While my husband was sprinkling I went upstairs to get ready for bed and within seconds I could smell the powder, and admittedly it was a really fresh smell but it was so overpowering that there was no way we were going to leave it overnight, so my husband vacuumed more or less straight away, and he even said he felt a bit funny afterwards after being in close proximity to the powder!
The following morning, the fresh smell was still there and I had a good sniff of the carpet and it seemed to have eliminated the odour which I was really pleased with. Over the next few days you could still smell the fresh smell but it did fade in less than a week. But I'm pleased to say the unpleasant odour has not returned, although if you get your nose very close to the carpet and breathe in very deeply, you can still smell it a little bit...but not many people are going to walk into my house and do that (well I hope they aren't any way!)
So all in all I am very impressed with this, it seems to have done a good job. I think it's marvellous that it's just dry powder and gets rid of such a bad stench.
The only downside is the really strong smell when you sprinkle it on your carpet. I wouldn't like to use it when the children are around, but it does state on the pack to keep away from children and pets, so you can't knock it really because it does warn you.
I have a cat called Tiger and he's getting old now, thirteen and so he pongs a lot and he can't help it!
Also my mum can't vacuum very well due to arthritis in her spine so that is one of my chores nowadays...
On a recent trip to Wilkinson's we saw a tub of Neutradol and after smelling it we decided to get the product to help with any nasty niffs around our home.
The Neutradol cost 77p on special offer for a 350g tub, and says it is 'The world's No1 deodorizer' spelt with a z before anyone corrects my spelling, lol!
Our scent is Super Fresh which has replaced the Spring Fresh in this range of cleaning products.
The makers M S George Ltd make this product in England and pack it in a cardboard container so it can be recycled...
We were surprised to see this Vac 'N Clean substance can be used in refuse bins both indoors and out and that seemed like a really cool idea to keep things smelling fresh :)
The write up promises 'Just cleaned freshness' and it certainly smells like that after you have used this on the carpets and rugs!
The write up also says this brand was the first one introduced on to the market that is an odour destroyer rather than just masking nasty niffs. It promises to neutralise any bad odours from pets or tobacco odours and of course any staleness in carpets.
To use you just sprinkle onto the carpeted area you want to treat and leave it a few minutes to absorb, and then simply vacuum it up.
It looks like a very fine grey powder and you can't see it once spread out on our cream carpet, lol! The vacuum cleaner smells really nice when you use it again as well in-between sprinkling sessions...
The fragrance is really strong at first and lasts for ages, it smells really naturally flowery and fresh and a lot better than a lot of the pongs our Tiger emits ;)
In the bin you simply sprinkle on and leave to deodorise nasty stale smells, and it works brilliantly on the outside bin in-between it being emptied by the refuse collectors.
If you use this regularly it lasts for a few weeks so is well worth the money, and it is a great idea regarding the rubbish as well.
Neutradol vac n clean is very effective at what it does, just be careful if you have a bad chest like me to well ventilate rooms before you use it and not to sprinkle to high in the air as it is very fine like talc and can scatter all over everything like dust particles.
Five stars from me, we don't smoke but we do get nasty pet smells that this stuff really helps to get rid of :)
In my house I have 2 dogs (sometimes up to 4 dogs - but that's another story) and carpet in the lounge, the stairs and the landing. My lounge also leads straight from the front door so, as you can imagine, it experiences heavy traffic with 2 adults and several dogs coming and going. I love my dogs but not to the point where I want everywhere to smell doggy - and this is where Neutradol Carpet Freshener comes in.
Over the years I have tried many ways of making my house smell fresh with varying degrees of success but I really hit the spot when I found this product. I have tried the other brands of carpet freshener and they were ok but this one is number 1 in my book.
This product is a fine white powder with a flowery smell which is quite strong at first but settles after a few minutes but doesn't disappear altogether. When you shake it over the carpet it sits on the pile and, being white, you're able to see it so it makes it easier for vacuuming. If I have the time I like to put it on the night before and vacuum the next day but I also find it effective if you put it on and vacuum a few minutes later.
It usually comes in a 350g cylindrical container but, at present, I have the one on special offer which has 50% free so the container is actually 525g. The outside is a bright green cover with 'Neutradol' highlighted in a blue banner and 'Carpet Odour Destroyer' in a red banner. The back is white with green writing. At the top is a white lid with a small flip lid which opens to allow you to sprinkle the powder on the carpet.
After using this product and vacuuming the room is left with a fresh scent which lasts for hours. When the scent fades, however, the odours in the room have been eliminated. The product can also be used in waste bins and I use it in the kitchen bin and it works to make that smell fresher too.
The only downside I have found with this product is that I have found it more difficult to get hold of recently as the supermarkets in my area don't stock it and the stuff they do have is not as good. The good news, however, is that several of the 'pound' shops stock it for £1, although I have got it on offer in recent months for 2 for £1 - excellent!
One thing to be aware of is that the smell is quite strong initially so if you suffer with asthma or allergies it may not be for you. In that case just try a small amount and see how you get on. I have quite bad asthma and allergies but I'm fine with it but that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.
Living at home I don't do housework very often. I do look after my bedroom etc but this past week my folks have been away so it's been up to me to play housekeeper! Now I've done a naughty thing I confess. I live in a none smoking house and I'm a smoker. It was fine till midweek then I had a panic about the smell of smoking indoors so off I trotted to Sainsbury's in search of cleaning products but also stuff that will help remove odours! So I purchased things like Fabreeze, air freshener's, and this Neutradol carpet cleaner!
A 350g bright green cardboard cylinder with a white plastic lid with a flip that has two holes in it that that you open to dispense the powder. On the front in large white writing on a dark blue background I'm told it is indeed Neutradol then under that again in smaller white writing I'm told its 'The World's No1 Deodorizer'. Then on a red background again with white writing I' told that it is Carpet Odour destroyer and told 'Improved formula banish pet & tobacco odours works in refuse bins, vac 'n' clean, super fresh'. Also there is a diagram on here telling me it is 'Active Deodorizing, destroys Bad Odours'. On the back I'm told again that it's Neutradol and information on the product (I'm about to list), directions for use, how to use in a dustbin, warnings and contact details for Neutradol.

Well I'd never used it before and when I shook it loads came out and I couldnt control the flow so being told to do it evenly was a bit of a mystery to be honest. I tried layereing it on my carpets from a great height but no it still splatted out in clumps. When you look at the powder when applied to the carpet it is quite thick so I was a bit horrified. I did as suggested though and I left it a few minutes before getting our Dyson out whilst having a panic attack.
I'm aware a Dyson is a strong vacum and in my case it sucked the powder up without and issues at all, as you would expect.
Now the smell is quite simply very stong. As the title says, fresh and it is. I'm not sure what it's meant to smell of but I guess other than super fresh it could be called spring fresh. I don't recognise any of the ingredients by smell but even though it is really pleasant it is strong.
The smell lasts for hours afterwards and does it get rid of nasty odours from carpets?
Absolutely. We have a dog and as I admitted to earlier me and my friend have been smoking and it really did get rid of that and funny thing was that it didn't temporarily get rid of the smell of cigerettes. No. even when the disguising smell of this product had completely faded out fag smell didn't come back!
As for the dustbin well I'd stunk that out too with emptying ashtrays into it regulary and ok I'm emptying the bin to be collected by dustmen but in meantime it's smelly stood in the kitchen and I'm paranoid even when I do empty it Mum will still no my guilty secret and all hell would break loose! So I tipped some in there and bang. Smell gone from there to!
You don't half use a lot of product even when you don't mean to and are being careful. I got through almost a tub vaccuming my house and I live in a dolls house with 2 bedrooms!
Also I give a word of warning not to tip it the edges of your carpet cos even my Dyson couldn't get that up without me having to go to the effort to get the nozzle attachment out. So you can either do that or just don't stick in there. Personally I was aware after 80 fags (in one day smoked by me and my friend) and drinking coffee that I really needed to do the edges! lol
Also if you don't have a damn good vaccum I'd advise against using this on cordroy carpets. A Dyson doesn't see this as a problem of course but something with less power certainly might and then you'd be in trouble not just cos it would struggle but thanks to Neutradol this just goes on to heavy then to maybe suck it up!
Fantastic product and it's saved my bacon! I love it. Although strong and highly fragranced it's really pleasant to use and it does get rid of nasty niffs.
I found this easy to use, mainly cos of my Dyson and will definetly repurchase it again it's worth every penny to those of us with pets and/or who smoke. I was pleased I had no residue left in my carpets and the house really does feel back to my Mums high standards of being clean and really smelling as lovely she left it! Oh and it won't knock my dog out either as it's safe to use around pets!
I bought mine in Sainsbury's for £1.29 but can often be found in pound shops and the like!
Neutradol is very effective in neutralising smells. You can keep a pot of the gel variety in an inconspicuous place in a room and it will do its job well. The trouble is that I can smell this stuff in the air. It makes my nose tingle and its quite unpleasant. It can often bring on an asthma attack. I'm lucky as friends who use this product will remove it from the room when I'm there. It is also available in a spray can. This is very efficient but still triggers my asthma. The little white pots that the gel version comes in will sit in a room for months before they need replacing. The top of the pot has like a grid to stop the contents falling out if it gets knocked over. This sticky gel will mark furniture if bits come out of the pot so be careful. Although I canot use this product in my home I do know that it is efficient and economical. Neutrodol doesn't mask smells by covering them with yet another smell. It really does neutralise the smell. It is relatively cheap and one you put your little plastic pot in a room you don't have to do anything else. A pot lasts for about eight weeks.
