“ Brand: Neutradol / Type: Carpet Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
We all know what Shake n Vac is (it puts the freshness back ;) ) but for me the best product out there is Neutradol carpet deodorizer.
For one thing it's much cheaper, Shake n Vac is around £1.99 whereas I buy Neutradol Carpet Deodorizer between 89p - £1 in Home Bargains / Pound World. It lasts me 2 entire house uses - that's 5 large carpets and the stairs. I think that's great value for money.
All you have to do is clear your carpets of rugs, furniture etc (as much as you can) and set the tube to open (it has a herb shaker sort of dispenser). Then hold it at waist height over the carpet and shake from side to side covering the entire carpet lightly and evenly. You must make sure not to use this around anyone with breathing problems or around children or pets. It's safe for them to use the rooms after you've hoovered but it can get on the lungs otherwise and it's better to be safe than sorry.
Anyway, I leave the Neutradol on the carpet for anywhere between 10 minutes to an hour (depends what else I'm doing!) and then I give the carpets a good hoover. Afterwards, not only are your carpets cleaner from the hoovering, any lingering odours trapped in the carpet are gone and you're left with a clean, airy scent (you can also buy this in a pine scent, which I hate - I just want things to smell clean not covered in synthetic scents).
It's great for homes with children who may have spilled things on the carpet, which you've cleaned up but it's let a smell, or for smokers, pet owners or anyone wanting a bit of cheap and cheerful carpet spring cleaning. It's obviously much cheaper than getting a company in. OK, it won't clean your carpet but it's not designed for that - it's to breathe some fresh air into musty rooms and so on. I think it works great, and for a quid, you really can't complain.
Forget doing the Shake n Vac, the crown here has to go to Neutradol - it's cheaper, it smells nicer and it gives great results!
Ah yes, another carpet freshener. You probably think I'm nuts, but I really do buy a new tube of carpet freshener every single week. I use it almost daily and have been buying a different one each week so I can form a solid opinion on which I like the best (nothing whatsoever to do with the fact I just really like buying cleaning products from pound shops). So far the race is being won by 1001 Wild Berry, but this Neutradol is Brilliant (yes, with a capital B) too.
The one I have is a 400g tube for the price of 350g apparently, but I got it from my local pound shop where size doesn't matter. It is the typical Neutradol packaging, which I think makes this range of products look very serious - there's no airy flowers or blue skies on this one, just hard info and a little graphic representing the odour molecules this claims to destroy. It calls itself "the worlds No1 deodoriser" which we are told on the back is backed up by laboratory tests, showing Neutradol to be the best at removing odours. This product gives "just cleaned freshness" and can also be used in refuse bins, which is something I'd never though about. Probably because regardless of recycling religiously, my kitchen bin is never full long enough to gather smells. I wouldn't dream of pouring this in my wheelie bin, shameful waste in my opinion!
The back of the tube tells you how to use this, both for carpets and for bins. For carpets, it's the usual stuff - hold at an angle, sprinkle evenly leave for a few minutes, vacuum. For bins, you are simply directed to sprinkle liberally over contents, and if you do this regularly your bins will be forever "pleasant and fresh". I personally feel that would be a bit of a waste of the product. I would rather save it for using on the carpets instead of literally pouring it in the bin.
Other info on the back includes the safety details which, summarised, are basically as follows - do not use on carpet tiles or similar pile carpets or indeed wet carpets; keep pets and those with perfume sensitivities away during application; keep away from children, and wash hands after use.
When I use this I leave it for more than a few minutes, as is normal for me. It has a strong smell, the very same as the aerosol, that reminds me of a sophisticated mature ladies perfume or adult talcum powder. It's very very nice and just like the aerosol, it sticks around. The powder itself is thicker and heavier than Shake n Vac and when you sprinkle it on the carpet it comes out in larger 'clumps' and leaves parts of the carpet untouched; unlike the fine powder of Shake n Vac that sinks into every inch of carpet. But this is far from a disadvantage.
It means that the powder is much easier to vacuum up and even though it doesn't coat the entire carpet, the scent is strong enough that it doesn't disappear up the vacuum along with the powder. I catch whiffs of it throughout the rest of the day and visitors never smell unpleasant things when they come in, in fact I am usually asked what the nice smell is. To be fair though it could be any number of things as my supplies cupboard is not dissimilar to a chemical weapons arsenal. Hmm.
All in all, this is another one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I have not seen it in Poundland though, only my local independent pound shop and Semi Chem (where it is also £1). I have seen it advertised online for around £1.50 not including P&P though and to be honest I would happily pay £1.50 for this, knowing how nice it is and how well it works. 1001 is still winning the race based purely on the gorgeous berry fragrance, but I will be buying this again, for sure.
Having nice smells in the home is important to me as I have pets and the home can quite often smell of them, especially if you have been out for the day and returned and the rooms smell of pets because the windows have been closed all day.
My wife sometimes buys a different brand and she often buys this one too for a change as it is quite cheap at a local store quite often and she stocks the cupboard when it is on offer.
It comes in a 350g cardboard tube, with a tiny flip lid with 2 holes for easily sprinkling of the contents onto the carpet, inside the tube there are tiny particles of beige coloured powder that has fragrance to it and smells very nice and the smell lasts for quite awhile too and it refreshes the carpets perfectly and deodorises them to make them too and eliminates those nasty pet smells.
Only a light sprinkling is needed to over the carpet and all that is needed is to just leave for a about 30 minutes and then vacuum.
It was priced at only 89p for this product from my local store, but I have seen it priced at a little bit more in other shops and at supermarkets but the prices are only a little bit more and still a bargain.
It is extremely good used in pet areas as these are the areas that have the most smells in my home and the smells are gone when I have used this product.
It is not recommended for certain piles of carpet such as carpet tiles and it does not work on wet carpets.
I do highly recommend this product for a fresh smelling home and I think it is very good value for money too and most of all it works.
I give it 5 stars
Spring is in the air and I am looking forward to opening my windows and doors more to let the fresh air inside my home and I am just refreshing the carpets to make they smell a bit better.
I normally use another brand also which I absolutely adore but sometimes I use this one as it deodorizers odours for that clean freshness that is nice in a home.
It comes in a 350g cardboard tube, with a tiny flip lid with 2 holes for easily sprinkling of the contents onto the carpet, inside the tube there are tiny particles of beige coloured powder that has a perfumy smell that lasts a long time in the room it is used, it removes all pet, smoke and other unpleasant odours, refreshing the carpet.
Only a light sprinkling is used over the carpet and just leave for a about 30 minutes and then vacuum, although the directions say to vacuum after a few minutes I personally for my own benefit like to leave it for the half hour as I like the powder to remain on the floor for a little longer to get a better benefit.
I paid 79p for this product from Home Bargains store, but I think it is a little bit more in supermarkets but the price is not too much more.
It also works in refuse bins to freshen them and just sprinkle liberally over kitchen bins and outside ones and if you use frequently your bins will remain pleasant and nice smelling.
It is not recommended for carpet tiles or similar pile types, also do not use on wet carpets, some people and pets may be sensitive to perfumes and if an allergic reaction develops, discontinue using this product.
This is a good product and it leaves the carpet smelling fresh and clean and in between my other brand of carpet freshener, this one does a very good job.
I would say to anyone who is thinking of those spring clean days or just cleaning routines, to try this product and see if it suits your home and yourself.
I give it 5 stars
Thank you for reading my review.
Being in a caravan at the moment and keeping a small area clean be a trial and tribulation at the best of times however add to that mix two messy grown women (me and my mate) and four beautiful but somewhat whiffy dogs things can get not only a bit cramped but a bit unfresh from time to time too of course. Although they are clean dogs in the main they shed hair and sometimes they do have little accidents and me and my mate are paranoid about keeping clean and somewhat tidy for the most of the time so I bought this for us to use from Poundland for yep...oddly enough a quid!
Cylinder mainly dark blue cardboard tube with a flip-top white plastic section to the top of it which conceals small holes to shake the stuff through. On the front of the tube and all in white lettering we are told it is Neutradol 'World's N01 Deodorizer Carpet odour Destroyer , Improved formula, banish pet & tobacco odours, works in refuse bins', Vac & Clean' Original Fragrance and we are also told that it is active deodorizing and that it destroys bad odours. Other information on the back of the tube includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, the size is stated (which in this is 525g) and contact details for M S George Limited are given. Nice, informative tube this is and it's very easy to understand and use it etc
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Tube:
Neutradol is a product of Swiss technology containing over 50 ingredients which attack bad odours leaving clean fresh air. The formula is being constantly improved so it will always have the extra deodorizing power that makes Neutradol so different. Neutradol is the original neutralizer that laboratory tests confirm is the best deodorizer. It is hygienic and can be used safely in the home.
Directions For Use On Carpets:
Hold container at an angle and sprinkle lightly and evenly over the carpet. Leave for a few minutes and vacuum.
Well all you do is follow the instructions on the tube and that is to sprinkle evenly some of the white powder over the carpet and then leave it for a few minutes before getting the vac over it and sucking it all up!
It does sprinkle out easily and of course on most carpets you can see it (unless they're really light carpets of course!) The smell of this is rather strong but entirely pleasant. It has a sort of floral smell to it that is really fresh and strong but nice enough and then it really is simple to hoover it up! It hoovers up into a fine white mist and that's it...job done in seconds! You can of course like I stated earlier use it in bins too by sprinkling a little into them for instant and lasting fragrance!
Love the stuff and really appreciate it's ease of use! It really does overcome odours for a good couple of hours leaving the place feeling and smelling fresh! Not only does it banish damp doggy smells etc but overcomes with ease tobacco (I smoke) and I feel it really does eat away odours brilliantly!
It does overcome bad odours for a time and at least freshens things up for a time and me and my mate rate this very highly indeed!
