“ Brand: Pledge / Type: Furniture Polish / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I am not the biggest neat freak on the block, but every now and again I like to try and give my flat a quick once over and clean it from top to bottom. In the previous flat we lived in we had mice (yuk!) so I like to ensure there is absolutely nothing for the little buggers to feast on so me and my Henry (hoover) go on a big rampage sucking up every little speck of dust in sight, and once I have started, I generally get the urge to want to clean the flat all over, including cleaning the kitchen area and the wooden table I have in my front room.
Pledge is one of those essential items in my little cleaning cupboard I like to always have on standby. It is a polish that has a unique formula as it also contains conditioners which easily remove dust and dirt, whilst simultaneously protecting the table from daily wear. It is designed for all surfaces but especially wood, which is why it is an ideal polish for my wooden table which seems to collect dust quicker than the speed of lighting!
Using Pledge is easy enough! It comes in a 250ml aerosol can with which I spray the polish direcrtly onto the table. Using a cotton cloth, a quick wipe around the table easily removes any dust and dirt and leaves my table with a lovely wooden shine making it look almost brand new again! It smells quite strong, a fragrant oaky smell which compliments the table and fills the room with an aroma I love as it gives me pride as when my partner comes home and smells it, he knows I've been hard cleaning all day!
I picked up this aerosol for £1.79 in my local corner shop only because I had run out and needed some, but I am aware it can be purachsed slightly cheaper in supermarkets etc as I have bought it before for around £1.30 in sainsburys. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone out there who has a wooden table and wants to give it a good once over without too much elbow grease :)
We moved house a couple of months ago after renting for six months and basically rebuilding the house we've now living in. Everything we've had is new, including new oak and glass living room furniture which is my Mum's current pride and joy. My Mum's not an avid cleaner although if she decides she's doing a big clean, she's doing a big clean and in our new home a big clean happens most Friday's although I'm sure this won't last for long. Although my Mum regularly dusts our new living room furniture only every so often does she use a product on it, and one she's been trying recently is Pledge Dust and Protect which is available in supermarkets for about £1.50 although she managed to pick it up recently for just £1.
The polish comes in an aerosol can, it's long and quite thin and pretty standard for pledge polish. The majority of the bottle is brown; I presume this is to show that the polish is designed to be used on wood, although it can be used on any surface. There's a push button to spray the polish with no safety lock, meaning it's important to keep the can away from children. Being an aerosol can it's also important not to put it anywhere where it might get too hot or not to spray around naked flame.
To use I tend to spray the polish directly onto the surface I want to clean from about twenty centimetres away then I wipe it over with a cloth and shine up my surfaces a little bit. I've found the spray to work well on pretty much every surface and as pledge say, especially wood. The polish removes every little mark from day to day usage of surfaces and also gets rid of dust very easily as it almost sticks to the cloth. The spray also smells really clean and fresh which is a lovely touch and one which I wasn't expecting. I've also found that surfaces stay cleaner for longer and dust tends to accumulate a lot less quickly when I've used this spray.
I've been really impressed with Pledge's Dust and Protect, I've found it works really well on every surface be in real wood, glass or flat packed furniture everything is left looking lovely and clean. I don't think I'd pay full price for the polish as, maybe it's just me but the spray seems to run out quite quickly. Overall though, a good product.
I love nothing more than when I've cleaned my flat and its dust free and smelling fresh and generally looking ship shape. I have recently purchased alot of new furniture and am as a proud as punch at the way my new home is taking shape which is why I've got really fussy as to which cleaning products I will use on the things I have took time in choosing and saved up for and gone without for to buy them looking the best they possible can!
Pledge though is a brand I trust and so when I spotted this in Asda costing £1.00 (on offer) I decided to make the purchase and seeing its called Springtime...I was sold! I thought it would leave a nice fragrance as well as shine in all of my rooms!
300ml brown coloured tall can with a brown plastic top you push to use the sprayer as an aerosol within. On the front of the can I am told that it is Pledge Furniture Polish 'Dust & Protect, Wood, Springtime and that it's 'The only air propelled furniture cleaner' and that it 'Reduces environmental damage' and to the bottom of the front of the can I'm told that it's a Johnson product. On the back of the can other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and how to use it, warnings and ingredients are listed and contact details for SC Johnson are given. Its an easy enough to handle can once its been used a bit although rather heavy when first in use cos it contains a lot of liquid and of course is made from aluminium and the can is of course as informative as it needs to be.

This is quite simply a fantastic product. I was surprised when I got it home to read on the front of the can the word wood cos when I took the time to read the back of the can I was really pleased cos I can pretty much use it anywhere where I can't make things slippy such as floors and baths etc!
I use this on wood and what I always think of as pretend wood. I use it my upvc sills, skirting boards and pretty much everywhere apart from mirrors and glass, not because I'm told not to but because I have stuff already I use on those things which I'm happy with!
It sprays out fast and sort of white and foamy so you don't need very much of it at all. It does have a fresh smell of sort of florals and greens and it doesn't smell like conventional polish as such! I spray and wipe and that's it. It removes dust with incredible ease and any dirty marks that shouldn't be on your furniture.
Not only does it leave a clean and fresh fragrance for a good hour or so but like I say things are left looking impeccably clean and with a natural gloss to them. Things aren't left smeared or greasy or sticky but just looking just clean!
What is more I have noticed that dust doesn't settle on my objects/furniture so fast after using this. My flat is light, bright and airy with big windows that are usually open and usually I do feel the flat gets grubby rather quickly but I have noticed a big difference since using this.
This cleans and protects as promised and makes my home smell really lovely at boot. I love products such as this that make my cleaning easier and this certainly meets all my specifications so Pledge....you get a huge thumbs up from me!
Available in all good supermarkets costing about £1.46 a can if not on offer like when I purchased mine lol.
