These wet wipes are made by Pledge who are part of SC Johnson, A Family Company. The multi surface wipes are suitable for use on a range of different surfaces including Wood, Laminate, Stainless Steel, Marble, Granite, Plastic, Porcelain, Glass and Electronics without the fear of causing any damage. The wet wipes are a convenient way to clean a number of different surfaces to leave them with a streak free shine. The wipes claim to remove fingerprints and marks as well as removing dust and the allergen it contains. As well as removing the dust the wipes also clean surfaces. The wipes come in a blue and yellow plastic pouch and it states on the front what the product is and what they can be used for. It also states that you get a total of 50 wipes in the pack. On the back of the pack it tells you how to use the product and it also gives you contact information for SC Johnson Ltd. This type of packaging has been used for many other products by different brands, how-ever the packaging it perfect as its small and is easier to store rather than trying to store a spray bottle of cleaner/polish along with separate cloths.

I purchased the wipes from Asda and they cost me £2.20 for a pack of 50 wipes.
Using the Product

Peel back the seal on the front of the package and carefully take out a wipe. Make sure you re-seal the packet to stop the other wipes from drying out. Press the cloth lightly gradually increasing pressure as you go. Dispose of the cloth in the bin afterwards; do not flush down the toilet. My bedroom needed a good clean & dust so this was a good opportunity to put these wipes to the test on a range of different surfaces. The seal is easy to peel back and it's easy to pull a single wipe out. The wipes are quite wet, and have a light citrus scent to them which is rather pleasant.
I rubbed the cloth lightly over the full length mirror in my room and then a applied a little more pressure, especially on fingerprints or on other marks that were on the mirror. As the wipes are quite wet they leave the mirror slightly damp and smeary at first, how-ever this dries to leave a clean, sparkling looking mirror. The fingerprints and other marks on the mirror came off easily with a little pressure when rubbing at them and I could see the amount of dust and dirt the wipes had removed on the cloth afterwards. So far, so good. Now to use the wipes on something else. I have a large wooden chest of drawers and quite often the top of it can get rather dusty and because it's a dark colour this shows the dust rather a lot. As the wood was sealed and had a varnish/coating on it the wipes could be used on this type of surface as well. This particular surface was just dusty so it simply needed a gentle wipe rather than me having to apply any pressure to get rid of any marks or fingerprints. The wipes help to clean dust off a number of different surfaces and I could see the results on the wipes as the dust sticks to them. The wipes leave the shelves and other surfaces in my room really clean and slightly shiny looking. The wipes are so quick and convenient to use and get the job done a lot quicker than it would with a sprat polish and a separate dusting cloth. After using the wipes there was also a slight citrus scent, even after throwing the wipe away.

These wipes are a quick and convenient way to clean a range of different items around the home. As the wipes are wet they help to collect dust and get rid of any fingerprints, especially on surfaces such as glass. I found the wipes much easier to use than a separate spray polish and cloth and as these were wet they collected the dust straight away. I like the citrus like smell the wipes have and I like that it leaves a nice light scent to surfaces after using the wipes. I would definitely purchase these again as I think they are great and I can't actually think of anything bad to say about the product. I have heard some negative things about this product and the only negative thing I can think of is the price, especially if you have a lot of dusting and cleaning to do. I find that the wipes help to keep surfaces clean and dust free for a long as a normal spray polish and cloth. I will definitely be purchasing these again.

Pledge Multi Surface Clean and Dust Wipes cost around £3.50 for a pouch containing 25 moist wipes in a handy resealable pack. They are designed to be used on glass, wood and metal and the pack states they will give a great streak free finish to all these surfaces.
Upon opening the pouch you'll be hit with the very strong citrus smell which is a bit overpowering. It hangs about your hands for ages after you have used it too so it is best to wash your hands as soon as you have finished using them.
The wipes are a decent size and very strong Iin my opinion, and I was also surprised at how stretchy they are. They cleaned our wood and metalic areas very well indeed although we did have a few problems with streaks and smears on the glass doors of the wardrobes.
We found we had to use a lot of elbow grease and keep going over and over the glass in order to completely get rid of alll the smears. As soon as we thought they'd all gone there was another little one showing up, and this went on for quite some time.
I was also surprised at how moist they were and as we got to the bottom of the pack this seemed to get more so as every wipe was wetter and wetter.
A decent product for wood and meatl but not something I'd recommend for glass as it was too much like hard work. Also I think they are a little too expensive and Ican buy a cheaper and better alternative.

Since becoming a stay at home Mum, I've taken the whole 'domestic godess' role very seriously! I regularly get excited about new cleaning products and new scents when cleaning etc (yes I am aware I need to get out more!) and my most recent new purchase were these Pledge Multi Surface Clean & Dust Wipes.
I bought them from the supermarket as they were on offer for £2.50 but usually cost approximately £3 for a pack of 25 wipes. This did sound like a lot to me for dusting wipes, as it's not like I could use them for everything in the house as their purpose was to dust not disinfect etc. However I had an imminant arrival of the in-laws and wanted the house to be spotless so thought I would give them a go especially as they were on special offer.
If oyu are like me when I clean there are some jobs I can't abide. Dusting and Ironing are mine. In fact I try to avoid ironing where ever possible and dusting is one of those jobs I can't avoid but try to buy products that speed up the job! Thats why I thought these would be great for me. The pack says that the wipes themselves are perfect for multi-surface cleaning and dusting. They can be used on metal, electronics, glass and wood. Which for me sounded excellent as I could use them to dust every surface in my home!
I didn't give them any more thought until I got them home when I opened the packet and realised they were also pre-moistened. Which actually put me off. Part of the reason I hate dusting is because you have to do it in two steps-the first is to remove the dust with something dry (cloth, duster etc) and then clean or polish with something that has a small amo0unt of moisture to it. The problem is that if you try to avoid dusting without something dry first you clump the dust together and you tend to move it around rather than remove it as it sticks to the moisture. It's the thing that drives me mad! So when I realised these wipes were pre-moistened I wasn't best pleased for not reading the packet properly as I wouldn't have bought them if I had seen that part.
However I thought it would be best to give them a go anyway. First and for-most was the television stand. We have a black glass multi layer television stand. My partner refuses to replace it with a nice wooden, homely one as it's from his single 'glory' days. It's alright for him but it's a nightmare to keep clean! This stand is probably the reason I hate dusting so much! It attracts dust and because it's black it shows dust within hours of cleaning! Grr! Anyway, I got straight in with the wipes, I removed one and began to wipe away. Instantly the dust moved around and grouped together and although some was removed, everytime I moved the wipe it would group together again and just didn't work at all. I had to use one wipe to push all the dust to one end and then another fresh one to remove as much of it as possible-on each shelf! So I ended up using a good six wipes for the tv stand alone. Even then there were still flakes of dust and it didn't look like it had just been cleaned.
With regards to it's polish ability, I can't fault that! It says on the front of the pack about the 'streak free shine' and the parts of the surface that weren't still spotted with dust were very shiny and polished looking. This was good as we all know glass streaks are very annoying and hard to avoid with normal polish so overall it's ability on glass only gets a two out of five I'm afraid, very disappointing as I felt they didn't look like I'd just cleaned them at all.
It was a different story on wood though, much more pleasing and easy to use. We have wooden lamp tables and display units etc in out living room and these wipes made these come up a treat. They were really easy to use and swept across the surfaces easily and swiftly, taking with them any dust or marks they might have found along the way. The wipes weren't moistened enough to leave a residue either so they didn't look wet or un-useable after useage. Wooden surface use would be five out of five because they dusted and cleaned too, very good job pledge!
I also used these wipes for ornaments, photo frames, lamp bases etc and again they worked well on most surfaces. I was pleased with how polished everything looked and our metal lamp bases came up ok-ish although they did streak a little bit and again the glass photo frames didn't come up so well but overall ornaments etc are ok with these wipes too!
My opinion on these wipes is mixed. I wont be buying them again though to be honest. For the regular price they only thing they work well on is wooden surfaces and even then they don't perform better than normal spray polish and a duster. Plus I get much more out of a can of polish then these wipes considering how many you need to use on certain surfaces. In summary the surfaces ability of the wipes is as follows:
Metal-Leaves streaks although when dry not noticable so 3.5 out of 5 stars
Electronics-Dusts ok but doesn't remove the dust and tend to leave it around buttons etc so 3 stars
Glass-Doesn't dust very well at all and not recommended so can only give 1 star out of five
Wood-The best of all the surfaces for these wipes, gets a full five stars
With regards to it's overall rating I can't give it more than 2.5 as it's not great on many surfaces and only performs as well as other products on the best of it's surface ability. For the price-stick to other products, not worth it even if you are trying to save yourself some time.
I have tried many times before to try and find a decent glass cleaner. I always find that I end up with a product which smears the glass and takes forever to clean it.
On my recent travels to the supermarket I found these pledge multipurpose cleaning wipes. On the front they claim they can clean metal, glass and wood and I have to be honest they certainly can.
They claim no smearing will be left behind either and yet again they are totally accurate. There are 25 of these pre moistured cloths inside this nicely fitted pack. You take one out which has a nice aroma which is fresh but also strong at the same time. I struggle to put a word to what it truly is.
They are not super thin and the amount of moisture on the cloth is enough to make sure it can clean a product it is touching. The first trial was my bathroom mirror which is full of grease marks from my hands and silly sprays I use. I put this item down the sides and worked really well.
I found I had a nice shine to the glass and it was a nice change from the sprays I had used previously. I tried the same product on my television screen it is after all made from glass and the packet they come in on the side claims they can be used on electronics.
The next test was the wood and it worked well on my coffee table and the mantlepiece so again it does a good job and it leaves behind a clean feel after I felt the wood with my finger.
When it comes to metal I was thinking it might not work after this is a much more complex material compared to the other two. I managed to clean some metal and everything these cloths touched they left a nice shine with.
I found no smear marks which happens often with other brands and I discovered they were durable enough to use just one for a job and not many all at once. Some other brands require you to use many all at once for better results and this is not the case here.
I also noted no chemicals leak out of the cloths. Many time before when using these sort of cloths you hold to tightly some of the water leaks out and you need to clean that up and this never happens either.
There are instructions on the pack and they are kept in a clean package which makes sure they remain mositurised. I found a pack at Tesco for £1.30 and I will be going back for me and no complaints to note.
You need to wash your hands after usage as these are perhaps going to burn if they touch them.
I don't know about you, but I have a habit of buying various different wipes from the cleaning aisle in Sainsburys that have a habit of sitting in the cupboard, forgotten, and when I finally do remember they are there to be used they tend to have gone all hard and dry. When I recently wanted to have a go at cleaning some mirrors (which I admit doesn't happen very often!) I could not find any glass wipes in the cupboard that were fit for use. Therefore on my next visit to Sainsburys I was pleased to discover Pledge multi surface wipes which now remove the need for lots of different wipes.
These come in an attractive blue pouch with a resealable flap that works really well for keeping everything fresh inside. There are twenty five pre-moistened wipes inside that are suitable for both cleaning and dusting. As I said these wipes are multi surface but on the pouch it does specifically mention wood, glass, metal and electronics.
Each wipe is a good size that is about as long as two sheets of toilet paper. The smell when you first remove a wipe is almost overpowering but it is not unpleasant as it is a citrus type smell I think. The wipe feels both strong and stretchy and is cool and moist to the touch. I have found that it works really well on wood and metal and is fairly successful on glass too. It does live up to its claim of a streak free finish but I do think you have to work quite hard with the glass to achieve that. It is also very good at shifting the dirt on the glass too without having to use too much elbow grease! You can also use one wipe to cover a good surface area and then, as it is white, you can tell when it has had enough and has become too grimy. At this point you can just throw it away and start with another.
As long as you ensure that you have secured the resealable opening each time, these wipes should continue to stay fresh all the way to the last one in the pouch. I am very impressed with how they have continued to stay moist and therefore have kept their cleaning effectiveness. This along with their cleaning power and the need to only have one pack of wipes in the cupboard make them definitely worth considering.
They are a little bit more expensive than shop brand wipes though. At the moment, at Robert Dyas, a pouch of twenty five wipes costs £3.49. (November 2010). I think that, because I like them. It might be worth looking out for them when they are on special offer. Alternately I might try Sainsbury's own multi surface wipes and compare.
I should just mention that these wipes should be kept out of reach of children, and that they advise you to wash your hands after using.
I do recommend these wipes though because they make cleaning easy and that's definitely what I need!
