In the past couple of weeks we've needed this for human "accidemts" of the excremental variety. But while it claims to be specially formulated for such messes - it works very slowly or not at all.
You're eupposed to dampen the soiled area (carpets, towels, fabrics of most kinds), spray the stuff on, cover it with a dam-p towel...and leave it for 5-8 hours (or "overnight")
Which is inconvenient anyway. But what they don't tell you is that it invariably takes three or four treatments before the stain even seems to fade. At first it will seem to be spreading the stain over a wider area!
There's a stretch of sofa lining which it still hasn't cleaned after about half a dozen goes (like a fool, I bought a second bottle). Interestingly it worked on the carpet (a small stain) but none of the fabrics it claims to treat.
golferinfr's Full Review: Rug Doctor Urine Eliminator Cleaner
I thought I'd be the last person to buy something like this, but no I'm just as ordinary like you. I have animals, I have some friends that are animals, and lastly I have friends that drink. I just thank the judge when getting my divorce that I was able to keep my Hoover Steam Vacuum and some other stuff. This is the third time I had to buy a 24 ounce bottle of The Rug Doctors Urine Eliminator Cleaner because I just got my boy Brutus a friend, Tyson a ten week Boxer puppy. House training this last week has been thrilling to say the least, every time I think I have him all pee'd and pooped out I bring him inside and within 20 minutes he is christening someplace new in my place.
Even though I don't drink anymore (4 years May 16th) I still have friends come over. Tonight it happen, after watching the Bull's playoff game my one buddy was queasy because the Mexican food we ate and the munchies we were all eating back here didn't agree with his alcohol consumption. Result, he didn't make it to the bathroom on time. Final scenario at my place is the bathroom, the essential rug around the front and sides of the toilet...Oh come on now, everyone doesn't have perfect aim.
All these problems that lead me to bring that red and blue spray bottle out from under the kitchen sink. This Rug Doctor Urine Cleaner is specially formulated to remove odors and stains that come from urine, vomit, feces, blood, and other things. With the animal pee and poop I always do each procedure twice. I give the stain 5 or 6 sprays depending on how big the stain is then I use the steam vacuum for about 2 to 3 minutes to make sure I get the padding underneath the carpet. Then I repeat it a second time to make sure it's out. On the safe side as the spot is drying out I give it a few sprays of Febreze Air Effects to disguise the spot and hopefully doesn't find it again.
The active enzymes eliminate the source of the stain and odor for use on carpets, upholstery, mattresses, color-safe fabrics. When my buddy accidentally barfed on my recliner the food and beer made for such a awful smell I almost needed my respirator. But the third time of clean and repeat procedure cleaned the stain and the smell away. The toilet rug, I just spray really good before I wash it in the washing machine. The Rug Doctor Urine Eliminator has a soft odor of like stale ammonia, you can hardly smell it unless you put your face right in it. For the ladies, if you have a accident on the bed from that mean friend that you get every month and it goes through the sheets to the mattress, this will help remove that unsightly stain. There are a wide variety of uses that this spray can be used for. I just gave you a few that I've dealt with.
Overall, it's hard work gone easy with this cleaner, still it's hard work scrubbing the stain away but in the long run you will be very satisfied getting the stain out right. For overnight dried stains, if the fabric can handle warm to medium hot water put some on the stain to loose it up first. Tyson busted out of his kitchen tamper proof pet door and pooped 3 times on my beige carpet in the living room and I used the warm water for starters. This product works great, if you can find a two pack of it, you can save money on them.
