Advantages: None.

Disadvantages: Too many.

We bought some Oust a fair few months back (in a £ shop!) and have only just finished the can, which prompted me to review it, especially in view of this months category on Dooyoo.

This particular scent is 'Citrus scent', which means it has a yellow top.

What is it?
An odour eliminator.....really? Not just any odour eliminator mind, it ws voted product of the year in 2006 in a consumer survey of product innovation, using a survey of 12,338 people. Now as someone who has undertaken academic research, this is an impressive number......and they (SC Johnson) are somewhat misleading.......12,338 did not vote for this product, there is a complex route through to finals etc. So whilst the statement is not a lie, it is wrong, in my opinion to mislead folk!!

Anyway, it claims to 'neutralise' bad odour not just 'mask' it. It has a 'special formula', which, as the ingredients are not listed on the can, remains 'special'......and I thought by law they had to list ingredients. I even went onto the website to look for ingredients (www.oust.com) and could not find them, this worries me.

It states on the can, in small writing 'use only in well ventilated areas', where on earth would that be in the house then? This worries me too.

Does it work?
No, no, no.....it does not 'neutralise' odours, it just replaces them with the most awful chemical smell that has about a 5% resemblance to 'Citrus Scent'. It makes by nose run, it lingers and it 'sticks' to things as the mist descends.

What do I think?
Well I think you are getting a good idea......I am not a lover of chemicals anyways, and this is awful, you would be much better served by opening some windows in the house and here is a good tip to reduce smell in the house, cheap and chemical free.

Buy a lemon, cut it into quarters, place it is a bowl, pour boiling water on it, sprinkle a little sugar in the bowl, it will give off a nice, natural odour.

In conclusion:
Rubbish product, stinks worse that the smells it is supposed to 'neutralise' and I have no idea what nasty chemicals are in it.

Summary: Oust 'odour neutraliser'.
