The Oust claim is that is "neutralizes odour molecules in the air" and as such it aims to get rid of bad smells but not only by masking them as most air fresheners do. As I live in a house with three children, two dogs, one cat, and my partner who smokes ("only ocassionally" my partner insists!), then its an environment where Oust can really get tested to the extreme!

Oust comes in a typical aerosol tin with a depress nozzle to expel the fragranced gas into the atmosphere. The depress button depresses easily and the fragrance seems to be emitted in a way which allows for a fine and wide-range dispersal of the gas. Because of the design of the depress nozzle, you do not get any of the solution on your fingers like I can sometimes with other types of aerosol dispersal systems.

I tend to use Oust once a day when I am rushing around doing the housework. Each room gets a generous spraying. I find the fragrance to be quite light and fresh, and although there is a slightly floral fragrance (I find all of them smell very similar regardless of the fragrance type!!), it is certainly not over-powering like some aerosol sprays can be.

While the fragrance only persists for a very short time, I do find that when using the Oust spray, other over-powering smells in my house are kept to a minimum. For example, with cigarette smoke, as a non-smoker who is very sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke, I wouldn't say that it completely eliminates the odour, but it does certainly significantly diminish the strength and pervasiveness of it.

A bottle of Oust lasts me about 2 weeks - although I should add that I do have a large house and so this seems a decent amount enough time for me. A 300 ml can costs £1.69.

Overall, I recommend Oust for eliminating odours such as cigarette smoke and pets. It does work!!
