      Bling, bling!

I purchased this from Argos last year for £19.99. My main reason for buying it was to keep my engagement ring clean as it has several stones and a lot of dirt seems to collect between the stones.

In the box you get the Sonic Jewellery cleaner which is a white unit with two circular tanks each of which has a jewellery basket. You also get a small cleaning brush and a 250ml bottle of the Sonic cleaning solution. This item can also be purchased separately from Argos for £4.99.

The unit runs on 4 x AA batteries which you need to purchase separately.

The jewellery cleaner is designed to restore lusture, shine and sparkle to gold, silver and platinum items of jewellery. It uses Sonic technology which is a high-tech quick way to clean jewellery quickly and easily. Sonic cleaners use ultrasound and a cleaning solution to clean jewelry without damaging it. The ultrasound creates bubbles that penetrate cracks and recesses and break loose dirt and other particles from jewellery surfaces allowing the solution to then clean the surface.

To use the jewellery cleaner you simply remover the jewellery basket and fill the right hand side of the unit with 1 part Sonic solution and 6 parts water which has to be tepid or cold. The Sonic solution has markers on the side so you always use the correct amount, too much solution can damage jewellery. You then simply place the basket into the solution and switch the cleaner to the 'Hi' position. The machine has two cleaning modes 'Hi' is the high speed clean mode. You then need to run the machine for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes has passed you then remove the jewellery, if necessary you can use the cleaning brush dipped in solution. I always use this to get out deeply embedded dirt.

After the first cycle has finished you then fill the left hand side of the machine with clean cold water. You then put the clean jewellery into this compartment using the basket provided and run the machin on 'lo' for 1 minute.

One both cycles are complete you then need to dry with a clean soft cloth. If jewellery is very dirty you can run a second cycle with clean solution.

The jewellery cleaner can be used on all types of jewellery but if it is costume or a porus stone such as opal, pearl or tigers eye you need to dilute the solution with 8 parts water and not operate the machine, just dip the jewellery for no more than 30 seconds.

After using this my ring came up sparkling it looked like new, I do have it professionally cleaned every six months as part of the guarantee and I have to say I haven't noticed any difference in the level of the clean.

I have aso tried it on silver jewellery which has tarnished and all the tarnish was removed. In the bottle there is enough solution to clean 20 lots of jewellery.

I would recommend this to anyone who wears a lot of jewellery and likes to keep it looking clean and shiny. This is a great value buy that does exactly what it says.
