The bottle I bought is shown in the centre front of the image above.
Spar 'S' Budget Lemon Washing Up Liquid.
500 mls in a plain white plastic bottle with a white flip top cap.
Has the usual red 'S' logo and green writing.
Also down the bottom of the front is the usual fir tree green and white images of stylised trees.
Use sparingly and not to be used on fabrics or clothing.Keep out of eyes and keep away from children.
Produced in the UK for Spar (UK) Ltd.
I think it was around 69p.
This is a basic product and one of Spar's range of own brand products. Their basic range was revamped last November.
The packaging is basic and in the regulation colours of Spar - red, white and green.
I normally buy the Tesco Value washing up liquid so am not fussy about having an expensive product. Personally I am not mad keen on Fairy as it makes too many bubbles for me - especially when people use a lot of it. So I prefer to use the value brands which for me clean quite adequately.
So when I ran out the other day I was quite happy to pick up a bottle of this lemon liquid from our local Spar shop for around 70p. I know it is twice the price of the Value range from Tesco which is currently only 33p but you have to pay for convenience.
This, however is a bit disappointing - though it does do the job in its way so I have have given it three stars.
Being lemon it is a pale yellow colour but to me it is too watery - if it was thicker and a deeper colour it would be much better. So even before you start washing up you are disappointed with the water liquid dripping out of the bottle - not very impressive.
The smell is slightly lemony, as would be expected, but not particularly strong or pleasant, but with a cheaper product you do not expect it really and I was not too bothered by the lack of a strong aroma.
It does not make very much suds at all really unless you used a great deal of it - but I do not really mind that because as long as it cleans the dishes it is ok. It is a bit of a disappointing product to use thoguh and making so few bubbles does make washing up rather a dreary affair with a few meager suds in the bowl.
However I would still prefer the Tesco product. This one does work of a fashion and is better than nothing but is not very pleasant to use at all.
I am glad I have tried this product and if I run out I will buy it again but it is not one I would use through choice.
It is one of those products that lets you know you are using a cheap version and the whole experience was not very pleasant at all.
