On a quest to try and save money on my weekly shopping bill, I decided to do the ‘step down’ challenge and instead of buying Flash, brought Tesco’s Daisy all purpose cleaner. The Daisy range is Tesco’s cheaper version of household cleaning products.
The bottle is made from clear plastic with a red screw top lid and a picture of a flower on the front. The cleaning fluid is bright yellow in colour. The RRP is £0.99 for a 1 litre bottle and available from most Tesco Store, it is also available to buy online but delivery costs normally range from £3.50 - £8 (for my area).
I tend to use this for cleaning the bathroom suite and on my tiled and wooden floors. When cleaning the bathroom, I use neat and simply pour onto my cloth and wipe the areas. When it comes to the flooring, I pour a small amount into my bucket and add hot water. The instructions actually say use two capfuls per 5 litres or for stubborn stains, 3 capfuls for 1 litre of water.
The fragrance of the product is really quite fresh smelling, the product states it smells of lemon and lime but I can really only smell the lemons. The fragrance does last for quite a while, several hours after cleaning the bathroom, I can walk back in and it still has that ‘just cleaned’ smell.
With regards to cleaning ability, I think this is just as good as any other cleaning product I have tried. It leaves my shower screen looking like new after I have cleaned it.
The only problem I have experienced is that the lid seems to leak. I purchased my first bottle in store, and when I got home, there was around a egg cup full in the bottom of my carrier bag, fortunately, this was in a bag on its own so didn’t cause too much inconvenience. I checked the lid and it was screwed on tightly and there were no splits in the bottle so I thought it was just a one off. I then had another bottle delivered to home with my food shopping, again, it was on a bag on its own so no problems but there were still no signs of how this happened.
Based on the cleaning ability, I would give it 5 out of 5 but due to the problems with the lid leaking, overall, I would only give this 3 out of 5 stars and I will probably stick to Flash in the future.
I really hate cleaning! I know not many people like it but I totally hate it! I usually do a thorough cleaning every few weeks and just hoover around and use antibacterial wipes in between cleans to keep on top of things when I can.
I find a lot of branded cleaning expensive, even though they last a long time I find most of them to be no better than cheaper, own brand cleaners so I do try to look for cheap alternatives where possible.
Tesco Everyday Value All Purpose Cleaner comes in a 1 litre bottle, I can''t remember the exact price but it was around 20p!!!!!!!
The bottle is white with some purple images of items you could clean with this product such as a sink, toilet, bathtub, cooker tops and taps.
The instructions advise you to use the liquid neat on tough dirt or cooker tops. You can also use it diluted by putting 2 caps of liquid into 5 litres of water.
I mainly use this to mops the floors. It''s not bad on tough stains but I prefer to use products with antibacterial qualities to clean kitchen and bathroom surfaces, which is something this cleaner is missing.
I was really pleasantly surprised by the smell of this cleaner. One of the things I really hate about cleaning is the smell of cleaning products (especially bleach) so I was glad that this had a lemony citrus clean scent. It''s not like some cleaners where you can detect a citrus smell but it doesn''t disguise the cleaning product smell well, this doesn''t smell like a cleaner at all to me! I actually like the smell. The rooms smell really nice after cleaning the floors with this cleaner.
After cleaning the cat''s litter tray out with bleach I often let it soak in this cleaner and water and then I can smell this rather than bleach!
It is strong enough even when diluted to clean floors and other surfaces although they do warn not to use on polished surfaces or fabrics. I find it does its job and surfaces look and smell nice and clean when finished. I like that it is all purpose and can be used for most things, but I do think you would need other products for lots of grease or grime.
I''m happy with this cleaner and would definitely buy it again even just to wipe over everything once clean to get that nice scent.
I would recommend this for most cleaning tasks.
Tesco All Purpose Cleaner
Tesco All Purpose Cleaner is a multi surface cleaner that comes in as see through spray bottle. It is easily recognisable by its bright yellow colour. The bottle comes in one size-500mls and costs 89p. The product is available in all Tesco stores.
I like multi surface products as I like to clean my house from top to bottom in the one go so I don't want to be bothered using several different bottles for several different rooms. This product is suitable for cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom, floors and stairs so with the exception of wooden surfaces it does most of my house.
I expected a strong lemon smell from this liquid due to the colour of the bottle but this was not so. The cleaner smells clean and fresh but it is difficult to describe exactly what it smells of. I found the cleaner to be great on my kitchen surfaces removing dirt and grime without a problem. For more stubborn stains like on the cooker I simply spray and leave for a few minutes, the cleaner then removes it without a problem. The clear is also great in the bathroom and leaves your suite with a nice clean shine. I do not however use this on the actual toilet as I feel the need for something strong on this, generally bleach.
This is a well-priced and effective multi surface cleaner leaving surfaces clean and fresh smelling. Highly recommended
Cleaning the bathroom seems to be such a thankless task, and with four people living in our house, who all use the bathroom at least once a day, it is a job that forever needs doing. It is not a job I enjoy, especially after my son has been playing football and has left a muddy ring around the bath. I have been attracted by all the advertising gimmicks on the television, and have spent pounds on bottles of spray, cream, mousse ? you name it I have bought it at some point. Last month I bought a bottle of Tesco All Purpose Cleaner. A 500 ml bottle retails at a very inexpensive 68p, although it does come in a one litre size, costing another 20p, which represents wonderful value for money, provided of course, that it does the job for which it is intended. There are three fragrances in the range, citrus, floral and pine. Compare the 500ml price with that of Flash All Purpose Cleaner, and you will be saving yourself 30p per bottle. The packaging is simple, yet striking. The cleaner is contained within a bright purple plastic bottle, being angular in shape. The bottle has a bright red screw top, over which is a clear plastic cap. When the bottle is shaken, the product sounds quite watery. As I bought the floral variety, I expected a flowery scent to waft from the bottle when it was opened. However, this was not to be. Although there is a hint of sweetness, the cleaner has more of an antiseptic smell than a floral one. Tipping the bottle, I expected a watery stream of cleaner to appear. However, the consistency of the product is quite gel-like and is a pale purple colour, almost lilac. When using the cleaner on bathroom fixtures and fittings, there is no need to use vast amounts. The most surprising thing about the cleaner is that it foams up, creating a thick lather, when applied to any surface. The smell of the product does smell more flowery when it is being used, and the antiseptic smell dissipates when the cleaner
comes into contact with the air. I literally use a thumb-sized amount of the cleaner for the sink and this is enough to leave everything sparkling. Of course, the product does need to be rinsed from the surfaces, due to the lather, but so do most other cleaning products of this type. The cleaner can be used on enamel products, as well as the plastic variety, and can be used either neat or diluted. I have found the cleaner to be as good as the more expensive brands for our bathroom floor, and again, only a small amount is needed. Tesco All Purpose Cleaner claims to clean as well as any leading brand, and has certainly delivered that promise. There is no need to scrub at dirty marks, I find that a quick rub with a cloth will remove any lingering spots from the bath tub and dried on toothpaste from the sink. I have now used the cleaner for the best part of a month and still have nearly half of a bottle remaining, which I believe represents fantastic value for money, and also proves that despite cleaning the bathroom every day, a little of the cleaner goes a long way. Not only is the cleaner low in price, but it cleans my bathroom and furniture as well as Cif or Mr. Muscle, and leaves them looking clean, until the next person uses them! I will not be wasting my money on any of the more expensive brands again, but will instead be saving my pennies to buy more chocolate
