Advantages: Convenient, nice smelling, remove dirt
Disadvantages: Smell lingers on hands, wipes leave white residue, wipes dry out, not as cheap as you'd think
I like to have surface wipes round the house, for when I don't have time (or can't be bothered!) to do a full proper clean in a room, but just want to keep surface dirt and dust at bay. These wipes from Tesco are very versatile as you can use them in every room, so rather than getting separate bathroom/kitchen/surface wipes I thought I'd get a pack of these to try round the house.
The wipes come in a yellow packet, which has an allegedly re-sealable cover. I found, however, that once they are open, the seal loses its stickiness and this results in the top layer drying out. Not the best start. The wipes themselves are quite small, so if you're doing a large surface area or tackling stubborn marks, you'll probably need two otherwise it'll end up ripping.
The wipes have a lovely lemon smell to them, this is probably the best thing about them. The smell makes the room smell fresh once you've cleaned it (although if that's what I was after I would have just bought an air freshener - I was primarily looking for something that would clean things). The only thing with this is that the wipes are so heavily scented, the smell stays on your hands for ages after using them. Although it's a pleasant smell, it's not one I want overpowering my perfume all day.
In terms of cleaning power, the wipes are designed to make life easy in that you simply wipe the surface clean and leave it to dry. I found the problem with this was that the wipes leave a white residue on the surface, so I'd end up dampening the wipe to rinse the surface afterwards. This kind of defeats the point of the wipes in that you may as well have just done a full clean with a proper spray cleaner. They are effective in picking up dust and dirt though, and as they are coloured white you can really see the amount of dirt they pick up. They are disposed of simply in the bin. They are to be stored in a cool dry place to keep them fresh.
These wipes are available in Tesco, retailing at £1.15 for 40 wipes, although currently on offer giving you 2 packs of 40 wipes for £2.00. This offer makes them 2.5 pence per wipe which is pretty good value, although you must bear in mind that you'll lose a wipe between cleaning because of them drying out due to the seal not closing, so if you think maybe you'll use only a few wipes each time you clean, you'll probably end up losing a third of each pack! Bizarrely I've just checked the Tesco website and Flash wipes are retailing at £1 for 60 which is better value and that's not even on special offer!
All in all, I think these are a bit of a false economy. It's probably worth spending a bit more on a better performing wipe, or if you're not bothered about the convenience aspect a cleaning spray would perform better and provide better value.
Summary: Unless convenience is a huge priority, I'd give these a miss
