“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Bathroom & Toilet Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I bought this shower cleaner as I am really fed up of always having to clean the shower and it always seems to get really smeary. I wanted something which I could use regularly and keep on top of keeping it clean.
This is a shower cleaner which is recommended you use on a daily basis. It doesn't contain anti bacterial properties or any bleach so it isn't ideal for cleaning a shower properly but does help to keep it shiny.
What I tend to do is clean my shower properly using an anti bacterial spray about once a fortnight but several times a week I use this too to keep on top of having it clean.
I find that when I use this it helps my shower to shine. Sometimes all the droplets of water that drip down the glass can make it look unclean and limescale builds up really quickly around the plug hole but I don't need to spray it with anti bacterial and give it a proper clean so just using this is fine. I spray it directly onto the shower screen and the area around the plug. It is recommended to spray it onto an already wet shower but I find it tends to leave streaks then. It says to not wash away, just leave it but again it will leave streaks so I leave it for a few minutes and then I wipe it away using a microfibre cloth to help prevent streaks. It really does make the glass shine and takes away limescale.
Now I have found that using this regularly means that the limescale doesn't have time to build up. It says on this that it helps to prevent limescale build up but I don't know if this is true or not as I've never given it the chance to come back thanks to using this regularly but if it does help to keep it at bay then that is very positive!
The smell to this is quite strong if you spray a lot, I always open a window when using it. It's a typical cleaning type smell but nothing specific.
The only criticism I have of this is that it doesn't contain antibacterial elements. If it did then it would help to keep the shower as clean as possible as well as shiny. I don't think you can clean something that is in a bathroom efficiently without having something with antibacterial properties in it and so calling this a shower cleaner is a little misleading perhaps.
I give it 4 stars as it helps to keep it looking clean. It cost just £1 when I bought it from tesco.
Living in an area which is a hard water area when trying to keep a house clean it can certainly be tough as water marks as well as limescale can build up very quickly. Even if your sink tap has a very small leak you will soon notice the limescale that quickly builds around the tap where the leak is coming from. Therefore, I do try and keep on top of the cleaning with suitable products which help combat limescale.
In my shower I had started to notice that on the shower head and the hose that is connected to my shower head started to look a bit drab, being a shiny chrome metal it was easily noticeable and almost had a cloudy effect to it. Not only do I have to contend with limescale but what I can't stand is when the grout in between the tiles starts to change colour so I wanted a cleaning product which would help keep my bathroom shower in a decent condition.
Whilst in my local Tesco I came across their own shower cleaner which was right next to the Mr Muscle Shower Cleaner. Being the cheaper of the two I opted for the Tesco version as if it doesn't particularly work I won't have lost too much. The whole idea of the shower cleaner is to help combat limescale, dirt and grime which can build up in the shower which is just the product I was looking for and at a reasonable £1.10 it was definitely worth a try!
The shower cleaner comes in a clear plastic trigger spray bottle which has a purple theme to it (just like the Mr Muscle version!). The trigger spray has an on and off switch which seems pretty normal for trigger sprays. On the front there is an image of a shower - sparkling clean of course! On the back there is a brief introduction on the product itself as well as how to use it effectively. And it goes without saying there is the long extensive list of ingredients and warnings.
The shower cleaner is clear in colour and has the same consistency as water which is what you would expect. To use you simply spray directly onto the area which you want to clean probably about 20-30cm away from the actual area as the spray comes out as a fine mist which can cover a decent sized area. It does have a very pleasant aroma to it, yes it does have a slight cleaner smell to it but it is actually quite light and a little bit floral which is nice and makes a nice changed compared to other cleaners.
I use this shower cleaner as part as my usual cleaning regime but I solely use it on areas where limescale is more likely to build up so I spray it directly onto my shower and taps as well as spraying onto the tiles and silicone around the shower tray/bath so it can help keep the grime away. I also use it every time I get out of the bath or shower where I simply just spray it directly onto these areas but I don't tend to wipe it off with a cloth instead I just give the areas a quick spray. Tesco do advise that there is no need to wipe off or scrub but this is just my personal choice.
When I am actually cleaning the bath or shower with this spray I generally spray it onto the certain areas and then wipe over with a damp cloth. Because the liquid is clear it can be a little annoying as you can't see exactly where the spray mist has gone but the good point is it doesn't leave water marks so even if you don't wipe it all away it won't be noticeable. Once wiped away there is no residue left on the tiles or marks on the shiny chrome. I may add though both my shower and bathroom are only a year old so grime and dirt haven't had time to build up so I can't comment on how well it would cope with heavily built up grime/limescale.
Since using the Tesco Shower Cleaner my shower head has definitely looked a lot shinier and overall a lot cleaner which is obviously the effect that I wanted and I am pleased to say my tiles have not been effected by grime or any other grime which of course is definitely a good thing. The shower cleaner apart from being easy to use is also effective and the price tag makes it even better! If wanting to keep your shower/bath clean and grime/limescale free then this should definitely be tried. 5 stars from me.

When we had our new bathroom fitted, I went through a spell of being very proud of my nice walk in shower unit and wanted to keep the nice brand new glass screen looking like it had never been used. Nine months on and that isn't quite the case, but in between cleaning the bathroom I like to use this shower cleaner every time I use the shower, to avoid the need to scrub when I clean it properly.
I've used the Mr Muscle version of this in the past, but thought I'd give Tesco's own version a try. It costs £1.12 for a 500ml bottle, and they are currently on offer so you can buy two for £2. The shower cleaner is designed to be used daily, to keep mould and mildew at bay and to keep your shower looking sparkling without streaks or water marks.
Using this spray is easy, it literally involves turning the nozzle to the "ON" position, and spraying over your shower tiles, screen and floor. There is no need to rinse or wipe, so it's easy to do even if you're in a hurry. You simply leave it to dry naturally, and it stops soap scum and water marks building up in the shower.
I think this spray does make a noticeable difference to the state of our shower, especially the shower screen. It looks cleaner and we don't have those horrible white scum marks or dried water drip marks running down the shower screen. It also makes life easier when we come to clean the shower properly because there's less need to scrub at the stains.
The only problem I've experienced with this cleaner is that it can be hard to reach certain areas without actually getting into the shower, although I think this is due to our shower screen being curved rather than straight. All of these sprays are designed in the same shaped bottle so I think this would be a problem with any of them. The spray itself does actually travel a good distance, so you only have to aim vaguely where you want it to land and it spreads quite well.
The spray also has a nice clean smell to it, which doesn't smell of chemicals or too clinical. It smells soapy and freshens up the shower area, making you feel like it's clean each time you use it. It's advisable to make sure you use this every day rather than every now and then, otherwise it loses its effect a little.
Finally, our shower has been in for about 9 months now, and we have no sign of mould or mildew. Although I'm not saying that's solely down to this spray, it must be helping to keep the shower area cleaner than it would be without it.
All in all I have had very good experiences with this shower cleaner, and have no intention of changing it for a more expensive brand.
