Tesco Kitchen Spray With Bleach
Advantages: Quite cheap, cleans ok
Disadvantages: Takes some effort, no shine, Bit potent
I'm not a snob when it comes to cleaning products, I tend to just buy the cheapest of what's around or I'll purchase something a little better if it is on offer but I'm not particularly fussed what I get provided it does the job.
We had ran out of kitchen cleaner and on my weekly shop, I didn't see anything that jumped out and grabbed me that was on offer so I just went for the Tesco bog standard Kitchen Cleaner.
A 500ml spray bottle of this stuff costs generally £1.15 which isn't bad and is at the cheaper end of the market when it comes to similar products. The bottle isn't anything special and is rather unappealing but attractive packaging isn't something that interests me provided the product itself does the job.
The cleaner comes in a white plastic spray bottle featuring a rather unattractive orange label bearing the Tesco Kitchen Cleaner logo. It doesn't instantly stand out on the shelves and does fade into the background a bit, but it's the price that stood out to me.
The bottle is a standard spray bottle with trigger top which is the best kind of bottle to have for bathroom and kitchen cleaners as it allows you to control how much cleaner you use and where it goes which eliminates wastage.
I am quite a fan of cillit bang, except for the price as I find it works brilliantly. I wasn't expecting so much from this due to it being a cheap product but this is what I was comparing it to. The most obvious difference between this cleaner and cillit bang that I noticed was the lathering. When you spray Cillit Bang, you notice immediately that it lathers up quite well and starts to fizz which indicates that it is breaking down the grease and dirt, making it easier to wipe away. This had a slight lather to it, but no fizzing so I wasn't confident the spray was really getting into the grease well. My fears were confirmed when I came to wipe it off.
With Cillit Bang you need very little in the way of elbow grease to remove all bits of grease and dirt as it has been broken down for you, but with this stuff, it wasn't broken down as well so did take a little more work to remove dirt. On the whole, I keep a very clean kitchen and it still took a bit of work with this stuff to get it looking pristine so if you are someone who isn't quite so houseproud, you may need something a little better than this to make a real difference to your kitchen.
Don't get me wrong, it cleaned but it took more effort than I would have liked and after I had finished, my kitchen just didn't feel immaculate which is not a problem I have had with better cleaners. When finished, I love my kitchen to shine, smell fresh and feel clean but it just didn't. It looked clean and tidy but it didn't look like it had had a complete scrubdown and I expected better results considering the work I had put in. Although clean, my kitchen looked dull and not at all shiny. One good thing though is that it didn't leave any kind of residue behind.
This kitchen cleaner does come with bleach so although you can't see that you have got rid of any germs, the fact that it contains bleach does give you a little confidence that somewhere along the line, some germs would have been eliminated.
The fact that it does contain bleach does have its downsides though. I would definitely recommend wearing gloves when using this stuff as it does really dry your hands out and it left quite a clinical smell that was a little potent for a spray cleaner which wasn't that strong. I prefer cleaners with a fragrance as they leave your kitchen clean, but smelling homely too but you just don't get that with this. Your kitchen smells clean, but not in a particularly welcoming way.
Overall, this was ok but I won't be rushing out to purchase it again. I would rather stock up on a couple of bottles of Mr Muscle when you can get it for £1.00 in Wilkinsons instead as you get a far better cleaner for less money. It cleaned ok, but just didn't leave me feeling that my kitchen was immaculately clean and it took quite a bit of elbow grease to get it looking as good as it did. Unfortunately, due to the reasons listed above, I can't really recommend this cleaner as it was ok, but did nothing special for me and left me a little disappointed.
Summary: An ok, but not great kitchen cleaner
