Advantages: Smells clean and fresh and serves its' purpose well

Disadvantages: No child lock on the lid

Whilst many of my friends and family consider me totally mad I have to admit that I enjoy cleaning my home as I find it so therapeutic. I'm not one of those people that own specific cleaning products for different areas of my home, so I tend to choose products that are multi-purpose. I enjoy trying and testing anything different and in a bid to reduce our weekly shopping bill I made a purchase a couple of months ago of Tesco Value Pine Disinfectant and this review discusses my experience with using the product.

~~ APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT ~~

We are provided with one litre of vivid green disinfectant in a transparent plastic container, which displays a label with the familiar Tesco Value brand logo. To detract our eyes from the red coloured value emblem Tesco have displayed a colourful image of two pinecones attached to a tree, which differs from the image shown above and is a much needed improvement.

~~ USING THE DISINFECTANT ~~

The screw off lid is easily removed and what I find a little concerning is that whilst more expensive brands make removal difficult for children, this is something that Tesco have omitted and I presume this is because the product is cheap. The plastic bottle is rather flimsy in comparison with more expensive brands, but I cannot state that this makes much of a difference when using. The disinfectant is of a watery consistency and offers a clean and fresh pine aroma without being too overpowering.

Whilst the product can be used for a multitude of cleaning tasks such as disinfecting walls, work surface etc where eight capfuls per five litres of water need to be used, my main purpose is for ensuring my sinks and drains are kept smelling clean and fresh. Consequently, as directed, I pour six capfuls of the undiluted liquid into the sinks and bath. Whilst we are not informed to leave the product before running water, I choose to wait at least an hour before using any of the newly disinfected areas. The clean and fresh aroma lingers for a good while after use, which is something I favour, particularly as it gives that "just cleaned" smell. I find the disinfectant excellent value for money and it delivers first class results and enables me to maintain a clean and fresh home at all times.

~~ INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION ~~

We are advised that amongst other ingredients the disinfectant contains less than 5% non-ionic surfactant, disinfectant and perfume. As with all products of this nature, the bottle should be kept out of reach of children and pets should not be allowed to access areas whilst they are still wet. The product should be stored in a cool, dry place. The recycling symbol is absent from the bottle, so I am presuming the empty bottle cannot be recycled due to its' harmful contents. My skin has come into contact with the disinfectant when I soak dish clothes in the diluted solution, but I am unable to speak of any adverse effects.

~~ PRICE ~~

Tesco Value Pine Disinfectant can be purchased at just 31p for a 1 litre bottle, which is excellent value for money and as a result, it receives 5 stars from me.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
