Not having a dishwasher I tend to go through quite a lot of these scourers and recently I picked up a pack of these Tesco Value Sponge Pan cleaners for the bargain price of 14p! I double took at the price which seemed insanely low but based on previous experience with their value range I figured would be perfectly fine. I usually pay around a pound for a pack of six from Home Bargains or the various pound shops.

The pack contains 6 scourers and they are a white sponge with the standard green coloured scourer surface on top, they seem a little shallower in depth than other scourers but measure the same in other dimensions. The sponge looks less dense and squishes more easily than with other scourers, I particularly noticed this when cleaning pans etc and anything which requires a bit more elbow grease to thoroughly clean.

In the main these are fine, they do the job. But for a couple of reasons I think I would rather pay a pound and get better quality. Firstly the scouring pad itself does not last too long before getting pulled and worn and generally looking manky, secondly you end up with green bobbly bits all over your draining board and around the sink when you drain the water, these seem to continually leave small green bits over most things they touch.

For a bog standard cleaning item these are ok but to be honest the difference in quality between these and the next range up is quite considerable and when you compare the useful life of a single sponge these look even less attractive. Not one of my favourites from this usually reliable range.
