“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Bathroom & Toilet Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
Recently I have been incredibly busy, despite not working at the moment outside of home, and I've taken to doing my Tesco shop online for this reason. I ordered some of my usual Tesco toilet clean (usually 2 bottles for £1.80) and when it was out of stock Tesco refunded me the difference and gave me two of these instead. Now I didn't notice this, despite checking the substitutions that the driver pointed out to me and it was only after the driver left and I was unpacking in my house that I noticed some different products. These pine cleaners are only 27p each for a 750ml bottle so quite a bargain on the surface, I wasn't going to the hassle of driving to my local Tesco to return these and buy the ones that I actually wanted so I figured I would just give them a go. I put toilet cleaner in my toilet every evening before I go to bed then in the morning whoever wakes up first gives everything a wipe over with a bathroom wipe, scrubs the toilet and then flushes it away. I like knowing that if guests turn up unannounced that my home is tidy and welcoming. I hate that rush when someone phones to ask if they can pop over and they are 5 minutes away so while I'm not working I try to spend an hour every day cleaning areas of my home that perhaps get neglected then in the evening I just do a 10 minute kitchen clean after dinner and I know that everything is in order before I go to bed for the night. This toilet cleaner comes in a curved bottle, as many of them do, with a simple to remove lid. It is white and green in colour and the liquid within is dark green, as I would expect from a pine product. The packaging is functional considering how cheap this is and it is simple to place this underneath the rim of my toilet seat and squirt it all around. The liquid then runs down the toilet bowl, fairly quickly I have found, meaning the whole toilet bowl is covered in toilet clean. This toilet cleaner kills germs and has been tested by an independent laboratory apparently, which sounds good enough for me. When I placed this underneath the rim of my toilet I noticed that the fragrance was actually quite nice. The typical pine scent came through strong and this meant that my bathroom smelled clean for at least an hour or two after this was flushed away. The scent doesn't last ages like other products that I have used but I wouldn't expect it to last longer than it did for 27p. I must say that this is actually quite effective and when I have used it by the morning I am able to run the toilet brush over my toilet and be left with a sparkling and shiny toilet bowl that is completely clean. For 27p I think this is a bargain. I am able to leave it in my toilet overnight or just for half an hour and it is very effective. It removes dirt and grime with ease and the scent that it holds is fragrant, very pine based, and makes my bathroom smell nice. I would buy it again, but probably only if my other product was out of stock just because I like the scent more. I feel for 27p that it is worth 5/5 as it does seemingly make my toilet hygienic and it definitely makes it clean, without an offensive smell, the packaging is very functional too and time saving which I like so I feel it is worthy of the full 5 stars!
I give my bathroom a thorough clean once per week and this includes a good scrub and bleaching of the toilet but on days in-between I like to have a packet of the flushable antibacterial toilet wipes and a bottle of toilet cleaner to hand to help keep my loo looking and smelling clean. Some toilet cleaners can be very expensive for what they are and with me being on a recent economy drive I have been testing out some of the cheaper cleaning products. One that I have tried recently is the Tesco everyday value toilet cleaner which was cheap enough not to try. This Tesco everyday value toilet cleaner can be purchased in most larger Tesco stores and currently costs £0.23 for a 750ml bottle. I thought that this was exceptional value and even if I found it not to be much use I would not be left feeling out of pocket. The toilet cleaner like many of the other products in the value range comes in basically designed packaging. The bottle is made of white plastic with a sticky label on the front and back which details everything you need to know about the cleaner. The bottle has a safety cap which you have to squeeze on each side and turn at the same time to be able to open. The bottle's shape is designed so that the nozzle is at an angle allowing you to direct the cleaner around the toilet bowl easily. The cleaner is dark green in colour and has quite a strong but pleasant pine fragrance. The cleaner was thicker in consistency than I expected it to be as some of the cheaper products tend to be thinner and more watery so this was much better than expected. This meant that when using the cleaner it does actually cling to the toilet bowl meaning it can be left for sometime to work helping to kill germs and dissolving any grime. After a while you can simply flush the toilet to wash away the cleaner. You also only need to use a small amount and with use on a daily basis a bottle has lasted me in the region of two weeks. Overall I have been rather impressed with this toilet cleaner it is easy to use and leaves my toilet looking clean and smelling really fresh. The pine scent is very pleasant and when I have used this cleaner on my toilet the scent lingers in my bathroom for some time afterwards. The cleaner also cotains disinfectant so helps to kill germs as well as cleaning. Personally I will be repurchasing this toilet cleaner I think it is excellent to use in-between cleans to keep my toilet looking and smelling nice and cleans and is complete bargain.
If you've been keeping up to date with my reviews, you'll know I recently moved into a flat all of my own. I've been finding it difficult keeping up with the housework - the sink is full of dishes and the floors are in need of a hoovering - but the bathroom is the one area of the house I've been keeping on top of everything. This is partially with the help of this cleaner. I've been using it for roughly three weeks now. Here's my review: ==Smell== Unlike some cheap cleaning products, the smell is strong enough but isn't overpowering. I use a little of this every morning and every night, and together with my Bloo blocks, the bathroom is kept smelling fresh all day. ==Colour and Staining== The colour is a bright green, which shows up well against a white toilet bowl. I quite like that as you can see a lot more clearly where the cleaner has been applied so if you miss a spot its visible, making it easier to get the full toilet cleaned. It does stain the toilet a pale green but it disappears with a few flushes. The colour does start to stain more permanently the more you use the cleaner but if you use bleach as well, like me, it'll clear it away. ==Value for Money== I can't quite remember how much this cost - I don't get out to Tesco that often any more as I now live in the middle of nowhere - but I think it was under 40p. One bottle lasted me just under two weeks, so it works out at about £1 a month I'll have to spend if I keep using this cleaner at the rate I'm using it and you can't really grumble at that. ==Do you need to use much for each clean?== I use the cleaner around the whole toilet rim every morning and night and it doesn't seem to take much. The cleaner trickles down during the night cleaning the rest of the bowl. One bottle lasted me nearly 2 weeks so you don't need to be using a lot of it. I also clean the toilet a lot more thoroughly with bleach about once a week though, as I don't think the cleaner is good enough on its own - bleach will kill all bacteria and germs but toilet cleaner isn't likely to be as thorough. ==Irritable to skin?== I know all of the cleaning products in the bathroom all say you should wear gloves when using them but I never bother. I have had the odd splash of toilet cleaner on me but I can't say I've ever felt irritated by it. People with sensitive skin might want to use gloves though, as it is still a cleaning product and does have the standard warnings on it. ==Longlasting effects?== For something as cheap, I wasn't really looking for something that lasted a long time, but it does keep the bathroom smelling of pine for the whole day so it can't really be faulted there. ==Disinfecting capabilities?== The product does contain some disinfectants but as I've said I'm sure its not as thorough as bleach at getting rid of bacteria. I'm out a lot and live by myself so the toilet doesn't get much use, but a big family might need something a little more powerful. If I wasn't on my own, I think I'd use something stronger. ==Conclusion== For the price, this is a decent toilet cleaner. It keeps the bathroom smelling fresh all day and does its bit to cut down on the amount of cleaning I have to do. Overall, I'd give it four stars.
In my bid to try and save some money I started trying out a variety of some products, some have been a regular feature in my shopping trolley now but some haven't been so great. One of the products I gave a go was the Tesco value range toilet cleaner, at just 25p per litre I had to give this a go. The packaging is exceptionally simple, it comes in a white bottle that has a label on the front detailing various information, No bells and whistles but for the price you can't expect any better really. Unlike other value brands this particular cleaner comes with an angled neck. I am really impressed with this feature with it being so cheap an angled neck is a great feature as it allows you to get cleaner right under the rim giving me peace of mind that the loo is getting a better clean. The cleaner itself is a thick, deep green colour. It isn't as thick as premium brands but it is thicker than some out there. It has a decent clinging power, I pop some down and leave it overnight, when coming through in the morning there is a faint hint of green round the sides that is still clinging and for the price even just a few hours of clinging would be a bonus, overnight cleaning is exceptional. There is no strong scent to this cleaner, it is very subtle but it is definitely there, it has a pine fresh scent, almost like disinfectant, it smells like other products described as pine smelling so I assume this must be how it should smell. I like that it isn't too strong and doesn't catch the back of your throat but is enough to leave the toilet smelling clean and fresh. I find that as I pop bleach and cleaner down the toilet every day that I don't have much to clean at all but when I do I find that this cleaner is great for getting rid of any marks that might be there. It leaves my toilet clean and fresh and I am extremely pleased I tried this cleaner. It's something that features on my shopping list regularly and I would recommend that anyone give it a try.
Recently I have been trying a few of the tesco value range products to clean my bathroom and kitchen. I have found a few that work really well and that are saving me some money! I spotted this 2 weeks ago and thought it was worth a try as I had nearly run out of my toilet duck. Bottle/Price: It comes in a tall white bottle with a screw lid. The bottle contains 750ml of cleaner which is quite a lot. You are given information on how to use the product. as its a tesco value product you shouldn't expect the bottle to look to nice, they are usually just plain and simple. The best thing about this product is the price, I only paid 23p! This is by far the cheapest thing on the shelf, with others reaching £2 or more. Its a fraction of the cost, and for that reason alone I decided to give it a go. Overall there is nothing amazing about the bottle design, pretty minimalistic. The design of the bottle also allow you to get it under the toilet rim, its not the best design compared to more expenisve brands, but it works well. Does it work?: I apply this under the rim and leave for an hour. The colour of the liquid is green and it smells heavily of pine. Its not as nice as I would have hoped, but it is fresh and you can certainly smell it around the entire bathroom. It smells good for the price. It leaves my loo looking clean and I believe it helps clean. Its disinfectant too, so it should kill nasty germs. If you only leave it on for 5 mins it wont work well, I always find an hour is just fine. I have left it on all day before and I think thats when it worked its magic the best! I can honestly say that it does the same job as more expensive cleaners, you won't notice a difference between this and toilet duck. It may not smell the best, but its hard working and worth a try! Overall: I would recommend you give this a try, I am going to be using this for the forseeable future as its cheap and leaves my toilet smelling and looking cleaner! Give it a go, if you dont like it you have only wasted 23p, hardly going to put anyone in too much debt! I think its brilliant. Thankyou for reading my review. This gets 5 stars from me! Can't fault it. Josh
***Tesco Value Pine Toilet Cleaner*** This is currently being sold for 27 pence at my local Tesco's. The bottle contains 750ml. The bottle has changed from the one in the picture. It is more in the 'usual' shape for a toilet cleaner where the spout is at angle. Having used both the old and new version I would say the new bottle is an improvement from the old one because firstly the more 'usual' shape is easier to apply and causes less wastage. The new bottle also doesn't 'suck' inwards when applying so does not then have to be squeezed in and out as I had to with the old bottle to then apply the cleaner on the next occasion. Whether this is due to the newer shape of the bottle or maybe it is made from a different material it improves the product so that I buy it regularly rather than now and again when really skint. The toilet cleaner says that it cleans, freshens and attacks odours but there is nowhere on the package that it states it kills germs so this is worth bearing in mind. Due to it not killing germs I also every other day or so put bleach around the toilet rim though obviously not together as this could produce poisonous fumes as most toilet cleaners and bleach warn not to be mixed/used with other cleaning products or bleach. This product gives that warning. ***Using the toilet cleaner*** The cleaner is green in colour and is pine scented. It is quite thick considering it is a 'budget' product. The pine smell isn't overpowering but is enough to leave a fresh smell. I have smelled pine fragrances that are more pleasant and also that are worse and I would say this is in the middle of the range. A pine fragrance to me is however very similar and there isn't to much differentiation with different products. I apply it once under the toilet rim giving the bottle a gentle squeeze if it is near the end of the bottle. The liquid will 'stay' near the toilet rim for a decent amount of time as I have bought more expensive ones in the past that just had no 'staying' power at all. The liquid if left for a few hours will slowly descend down into the toilet pan but you could still tell there is still a bit near the rim. This is the same if left over night. I tend to squish this around the toilet and then scrub with the toilet brush if someone (usually my OH) has been for a 'number 2' and left a little trace of it! This product is ideal for that purpose. ***Directions for use*** Direct around the bowl and under the rim. Leave for a couple of hours or overnight, then flush before using the toilet. ***Care Instructions*** Do not mix with other cleaning products/bleaches. Use only in the toilet bowl. Wipe up any accidental spillage immediately. ***Storage*** Store upright in a cool place. Do not expose to extreme temperatures. ***Warning*** KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. Keep away from eyes. If product gets into eyes rinse thoroughly with water. Rinse and dry hands after use. People with sensitive or damaged skin should avoid prolonged contact with the product. Do not ingest. If product is ingested seek medical advice. ***Product Information*** Contains amongst other ingredients: Non-ionic Surfants -Less than 5% Disinfectant, Dimethylol Glycol, Benzisothiazolinone (and) Methylisothiazolinone, Perfume. Produced in the UK. www.tesco.com I recommend if you want a cheap toilet cleaner that does the job and don't mind a pine fragrance. A real bargain.
After re-evaluating my household weekly shopping bill I decided to "downshift" many houshold products to see if store value ranges are of equal quality as those higher priced brand name goods. I paid 25pence for this product (I could buy 4 of these value cleaners for 1 of my standard Tesco cleaners) so on just price value this was well worth it. I was pleasantly surprised that it is just as good (if not better) than other slightly more expensive simular Tesco products and leading brand named products). It has a really fresh smell that lasts (if just left in the toilet) and still lingers if flushed away. The usual idea that the cheaper the product the more you will use is not applicable with this product. I actually found it to be quite thick and so you really wont need to use as much as you first think. I buy one a week and I use every day usually a couple of times a day to give you an idea of how long it will last and for just 25pence I think its a real bargain. Would I recommend this product-definately yes. Is downshifting a great way to reduce your shopping bills-yes. The only downside that I can find is that it is not always readily available in our Tesco store (value ranges are often removed during busier times such as Christmas to make room for seasonal products and allowing the store to focus on more expensive brand names but for the low price you can easily and cheaply stock up on a few at a time to see you through!)
When it comes to my toilet I can't bear the thought of it being dirty or smelly, in fact my bathroom being spotless is very important to me, I'd hate anyone to think it was grimy or shabby or anything! Due to money being tight at the moment (as it is for a lot of us of course!) I have been looking for cheaper cleaning products though I have been wary as I don't want to compromise on cleaning capabilities. However I picked this up after a fair bit of pondering and bought it after all it only costs 27p for a large 750ml size so I thought it had to be worth a go. The Packaging: Just recently these 'Value' products have ungone a slight name and packaging change. Before this Tesco Value range was in garish, sticky outy cheap looking packaging now it in plainer packaging and not so garish and called Everyday Value and I have to admit I do feel more comforatble buying this revamped range a bit more than I did the old one. What you get is a white plastic bottle which has a nozzel to the top of it so the top of the bottle is slightly curved and the lid/cap is twist on/off style. On the front of the bottle the label gives us all the information we need and we are told that it is Tesco Everyday Value Pine Toilet Cleaner 'Kills germs, performance tested by an independent laboratory' and there are little pictures of a pine cone and a toilet on it and so on and then we are given directions for use, the ingredients and size are given and contact details for Tesco are stated. Although this still looks cheapish packaging like I have said it isn't as bad as before and is informative enough. Using It: Well this is specifically a toilet cleaner so all you do is tip the bottle up a bit and squirt in under this rim of your toilet and leave it for as long as you want to but preferably a couple of hours to overnight. The liquid is a dark green transparent one and has a lovely, really fresh and distinctive aroma of pine to it and squeezes out of the bottle really easily. Now I have no idea whether this kills germs, of course not but I do feel a bit of confidence that it probably does. It does however leave my toilet and bathroom smelling nice for a short while and when I flush all residue is gone of it. What I have noticed is that I used to have a lot of thick black gunk hiding under this rim of my toilet that has been easy for me to wipe off after using this a few times so yes my toilet does look cleaner. All in all I like this one. I do wish the fragrance lingered a little longer however look at what it costs, you can't expect too much! A good enough toilet cleaner though that serves my needs and means I can use plenty of it and regulary too as it doesn't break the bank! Only available from Tesco costing 27p a bottle and only available in this size too.
Cleaning the toilets in my home is a chore I dislike to do the most as it is for most people but I still do my fair share of cleaning mine as I live in my house too and since I have more than one toilet it can become quite expensive and so I sometimes buy a cheaper brand especially if I am trying to cut down on my shopping budget at times. It comes in a white plastic bottle, which is very basic. It has a nozzle to squeeze the liquid from the bottle. It cost only 24p for a 750ml bottle which is very cheap for a toilet cleaner. It also has a child proof top that is quite difficult to open and very good indeed to keep the little ones safe and although I never leave my cleaning products etc in reach and have them in a cupboard which has a safety lock to keep them safe. This cleaner is a thick green gel and it has a very nice fragrance. It smells of fresh pine and it is easy to pour around the rim of the toilet. It clings nicely to the toilet and I usually use it late at night and just leave it and flush the toilet in the morning. I sometimes use it in the mornings and flush. It leaves my toilets smelling nice and fresh. It really is a very good quality for the low price indeed. I think it works just as well as a branded one too. It is very easy to grip the bottle to use and the bottle size is not too big. It is just the right size for any hands to hold and comfortably pour into the toilet with not effort at all. The bottle is a strong plastic too. The gel is quite shiny and has a very smooth texture. I think it is an affordable cleaner if you are on a budget and do not have a lot of money to spare. It attacks odours nicely and when poured into the bowl it cleans that area nicely too. If left in the toilet for a couple of hours as I often do on occasions and then walk back into my toilets. I find that the fragrance is apparent immediately and the bathroom etc has a nice smell to it and it lasts a very long time too. It is a nice refreshing smell with this one and for the price I think it is brilliant. I do not have a lot of limescale in my toilets and so it does the task for my liking. I have not been disappointed with this product and I highly recommend it for others to try even if not on a low budget as it is a remarkable product. I buy this along side my other favourite products and I am very satisfied with the results that this one has for my toilet cleaning duties. I rate this one 5 stars.
I love a clean bathroom and toilet anyway, but as I now have 3 toilets in the house I am struggling to keep up with the expenses of cleaning materials, especially as I just can't resist. So when I spotted a bottle of Tesco Pine Toilet Cleaner for just pennies compared to top brands I just had to try it. Tesco Pine Toilet Cleaner comes in a 750ml white plastic bottle, with a non desirable sticker on the front with a picture of pines at the top. It can be easily recognised as a tesco value product thanks to the blue and red tesco value logo on the front. The bottle informs us that this cleans, freshens and attacks odours and provides us with long lasting freshness. To use it you have to direct the nozzle at the top, curvy end of the bottle around within the toilet bowl and around the rim, leave it for a few hours, or overnight and flush it away before using the toilet. The cleaner pours out a deep green colour and has a stunningly pine fresh scent to it. It seems to pour out as quite a thin liquid, however when it's actually in the toilet it appears quite thick. As for this cleaner actually cleaning, well my new white toilets, were left sparkling white afterwards, they looked shiny and clean and that fresh scent remained for a little while too. However even though the bottle advises you to just flush it away, it does flush most of the green coloured cleaner away, but it appears that the cleaner stains the toilet bowl slightly. It doesn't actually stain it as such, but not all of the cleaner is removed from a simple flush meaning I do have to brush it with a toilet brush or flush more than once. Despite this small matter I think it is a brilliant cleaner for the price, it does 'clean' and it smells lovely which is a bonus!
Since I am trying lower brands at the moment I thought I would try this toilet cleaner which was only 31p from Tesco Value range and I thought I probably would not like it because of the very low price but I was pleasantly surprised. It comes in a white plastic bottle with a screw off cap and it is a very thick liquid and the smell is very pleasant and apparent immediately and it is nice and fresh and it is very easy to pour from the nozzle and the nozzle is a good one to go under the rim of the toilet perfectly and I am not disappointed. The thick liquid clings to the bowl of the toilet and leaves it nice, clean and fresh and is easily flushed away, it leaves the bathroom smelling of a nice fragrance and the pine per fumy smell is apparent, which I did not think it would be when I first bought it but I was pleasantly surprised how much fragrance this toilet cleaner actually has. It attacks those horrible odours that lurk in the toilet and it has a lasting smell and I always pour some into my toilet last thing at night and in the morning when I go into the bathroom I can smell the fragrance and then I just flush the toilet and the bowl is nice and clean. I highly recommend this cleaner as I have found it to be just as good as the branded variety on the market and for the very low price I will continue to buy it and save myself a lot of money and it works perfect for my liking and I recommend anyone to give it a try and see if it can save you some money also, and I do not think you would be disappointed as I am not. In my opinion it is only the basic look of the bottle that is the difference between this one and a branded one as the contents for me are just as good as branded ones. The consistency is very good and the value is amazing and the results are brilliant too. It is very good value with amazing results and an excellent price too and I just do not know how it is manufactured for the low price in my opinion, try it and see if you like it too. I give it 5 stars. Thank you for reading my review.
Tesco Value Toilet Cleaner Pine.... I have recently converted from Tesco to Morrison's to do my weekly shop. This change mainly came about when Tesco stopped taking coupons for any product even if you hadn't bought it. I was seemingly saving a lot of money by taking in stacks of coupons but I have since seemed to cut my shopping bill down by a third by simply shopping at Morrison's. This is probably because Morrison's seem to have better offer on each week and because they sell brilliant cheap price products like this one! I used to buy the toilet duck toilet cleaner which usually cost me around 89 pence for a standard sized bottle. Now considering that this is merely money down the toilet over the course of a year I am flush a lot of money away. Doing my shopping at Morrison's caused me to come across this little gem of a product, Value Toilet Cleaner in a Pine fragrance. Now at a cheap 29p it is far cheaper than most of the named brands toilet cleaners and I would of thought perhaps not up to the job I was used to but how wrong could I be? This toilet cleaner may not look much as it boasts the "Morrison's Value" yellow and white label and the shape of the bottle is easy to hold but does not have a bent neck like the toilet duck meaning you can get right up to the rim. However it does have the fresh Pine aroma which smells as good as a named brand version and also has a very nice thick green colouring to it. I find the consistency of the product to be more than what I would expect as it clings to the toilet basin for a long while and leaves the strong smelling pine aroma to fill the toilet and bathroom making it at least smell nice and clean! The bottle says that the cleaner will kill germs, keep the toilet looking and smelling good and it really does do what it says. The cleaning aspect of the product is again as good as all the others in the fact that it works really well. I don't think I would be eating my dinner from my toilet but it is of a good enough standard for me to consider it! It scrubs in well leaving a rather nice looking shiny white toilet. Well at least mine is I would wonder if it had the cleaning capability to bring a shine up on an already dirty/stained toilet? This is something I will never find out as our toilet is kept very nicely! Thanks to me! The bottle is a good 750ml which is slightly smaller than some branded toilet cleaners but I think for the price it still works out considerably cheaper and far better for value. Overall I can't rate this product highly enough and I don't think I will ever go back to using named brand toilet cleaner again as they are a true expense I can live without, if I have this product. I think a 5/5 star rating for this Morrison's Value Toilet Cleaner is a must and a top recommendation is as well given by me! I would say to everyone who uses a toilet cleaner to give this one a try and you'll never flush back! I do hope this has been of some help/interest to you. Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I always find with value products that they're a bit hit and miss- some are perfectly fine and the only difference seems to be the packaging, while others are definitely substandard and not even worth the few pennies you paid for them. But I'm always happy to find a bargain, so I tend to give them a go. This 750ml bottle of pine toilet cleaner costs a mere 25p- I could hardly believe it, especially when most of the other toilet cleaners on the shelf were around the pound mark. So I bought it, but wasn't sure whether it would prove to be a dud product or not. The bottle is white, with the usual Tesco value logo and a couple of pine cones printed on it for good measure. The lid is one of those squeezy ones which you press in and turn at the same time. It works exactly like any other toilet cleaner- squirt around the bowl and rim, leave a couple of hours and flush. The liquid itself is dark green, smells quite bleachy with a hint of something trying to be piney. Not quite as fragrant as some toilet cleaners, but hey, it's going straight down the loo, so it doesn't exactly need to smell like a bed of roses. The main difference I noticed using this was that it's a bit thinner than the branded toilet cleaners I've used before. For this reason it's not quite as strong, but happily my toilet's pretty clean anyway, so it doesn't need anything too powerful. I wouldn't use this for tackling serious grime though, as I don't think it would be effective enough. For normal, everyday use, this product is perfectly sufficient, and at 25p, a real bargain. It's not the strongest toilet cleaner out there, but it does the job.
With Christmas approaching very quickly I thought I would try and save a few pennies so I can get the usual overload of tubs of pringles, jars of pickles, boxes of cakes ect ect.... So walking down the cleaning aisle I spotted this Value Pine Toilet Cleaner. Now don't get me wrong as I have to have a really clean bathroom and there is nothing better than when everyone has gone to work than when I can get in the bathroom and give it a good wipe over then finish with the usual squirt of blue or green liquid down the toilet ( after I have cleaned it of course!!) thats the final thing I do before closing the door. That's that done until someone gets back later, now I'm not loyal to any particular brand all I want is something that has a nice smell. Usually I buy Duck, Parozone or Tesco's own which cost around the £1 mark each. Being I need to buy 2 and I get through it like there's no tomorrow it does work out quite expensive each week. Well I saw this Value one and I must say it does look really cheap and nasty, but at only 24p a bottle what have I got to loose. My one is in a slightly better looking bottle than the Dooyoo picture, with the bottle looking similiar to the other toilet cleaners in shape ( straight bottle with a curve at the top),but in a thin white plastic bottle with the front having a picture of some pine cones on it. You can see the dark green liquid through the plastic sloshing about. On taking the childproof lid off you get the smell of strong disinfectant and pine coming through and when I poured it down the toilet under the rim it went on quite nicely, maybe not as thick as some I've used in the past.It covered the bowl well and did cling to the side really well. I did think it might just run down to the bottom, but it didn't and after quite a few hours had gone by I went in to check and it had then started to slowly sink down to the bottom of the bowl. Some still remained though and I could still smell the pine scent. I got the brush and rubbed the remaining bits of green away and it left the toilet looking nice and clean. I think I will be buying this from now on as it did the job I wanted and kept the bathroom clean and fresh, the only down side is that it looks so cheap and nasty, so I will have to hide it under all my other shopping!! At 24p for a 750ml this is excellant value, so I'm glad I tried this and now when I'm throwing money down the toilet it will only be pennies instead of pounds!!. A very well earnt 5 stars.
I have noticed a trend recently in any supermarket, it seems that people are quite shy and ashamed to purchase value product, the basic and cheaper alternatives to the expensive product. Occasionally, you will see some people trying to just pile plenty of their other goods onto of the value products just to cover it and hope that people do not notice them. At first, I did find it quite weird to do so, because in your mind you knew that was the cheapest product if not one of the cheapest product of its kind in the store, therefore you felt uneasy and slightly shy. After a few trips, I just became use to picking up the occasional value or basic product. In fact, I get a real satisfaction when I do so, because I'm telling myself that it is just great how much I can save when using the product. I came across the Tesco Value Toilet Cleaner Pine, mainly because I have stopped believing that you need to purchase an expensive product to clean your bathrooms and other stuff. I find that this is a really good aspect of shopping to cut back on, because its not like you're going to taste the cleaning products and see how they taste, so I felt if it could do the job, it is enough, because I'm not willing to pay for a product with fancy packaging that will end up getting recycled anyway. The packaging is plain and simple with a white bottle and the label across it, with the Tesco Value label and the writings in red and blue. The opening on the bottle is good and easy to get the liquid out, unlike some which can be a nightmare because the opening is either too small or too big. The liquid itself is quite good, it is not diluted with other fluids which make them really watery. The colour of the liquid is green which would provide a good colour contrast on most bathroom surfaces for you to be able to spot where you have applied it. When you open the bottle for the first time, you might not be used to the smell of the chemical which is slightly stronger than I am used to and it does then to linger in the air. There is a pleasant smell of pine which is fine because it gives a bit more scent to the toilet after you use it. Overall, this is another great product for cleaning which is what you want just minus the fancy packaging with rainbow colours. At less than 30 pence per bottle, it is a good alternative which can save you some money in the long run.
