Tesco Washing Up Liquid
Advantages: cheap and similar to more expensive brands
Disadvantages: not long lasting
Last week I was in a Tesco petrol station on my way home when it occurred to me we had no washing up liquid at home. Drat. So when inside to pay for my fuel I picked up the first bottle of washing up liquid on the shelf, paid for it (amongst other bits and bobs) and off I went home. At home and unpacking the shopping I realised I picked up Tesco's brand washing up liquid! Oops! This is the result of a long day at work and not paying much attention, we usually use Fairy washing up liquid stricly but nevertheless we needed washing up liquid, so we weren't too bothered.
- Price -
The 500ml bottle of washing up liquid cost a mere 88p I discovered upon looking on my receipt so is about a third cheaper than the price of fairy washing up liquid.
- Packaging -
It comes in a bottle in practically the same size as fairy but the shape is a lot more wider at the base and neck than a fairy bottle (this should have been a giveaway to me but in my haphazard rush I really was unaware!) and is a plastic bottle of slightly cheaper quality. Nevertheless it is a standard transparent washing up liquid bottle that is transparent so as the user I am able to see the product inside and how much of it is left at anytime and how monitor how much I am using. It has a flip top lid to squeeze the product out in a small amount onto the sponge for nice scrubbing and rubbing.
- The Product -
In comparison to fairy I found the liquid a lot more runny and thin in consistency. It is a much lighter shade of green but has a nice thick scent to it which is a lot more apple-ish whereas fairy is a more soapy scent.
- Usage -
Using this washing up liquid is similar to using any other liquid, but I do feel it makes a lot less bubbles. I wash my dishes generally under a running tap and pour the washing up liquid onto the sponge and then washing and rinsing consecutively. I find that after washing only a couple of cups or plates the suds have all gone and I need to squeeze out more which is disappointing! It really goes down quick at this rate and so although a fraction of the price of fairy it lasts nowhere near as long, so not really worth it. It does wash my dishes well, but doesn't leave them all shiny and glistening as such washing up liquids like to advertise they do! They do leave my plates clean and well polished and with a nice fragrant smell so this I do appreciate.
Overall this is a decent product at a good price but it is not long lasting and so the money isn't really worthwhile. Next time I am in my supermarket I will look properly and go back to my Fairy!
Summary: a decent washing up liquid for those on a budget
