Thirstpockets Kitchen Towel
Advantages: thick, last well, great on offer
Disadvantages: expensive if not on promotion
I do seem to go through quite a lot of kitchen roll and so whilst I will often opt for a value range product or just a non branded name from the local pound shop when I spotted a eight pack of thirst pockets botanics in Tesco for just four pounds a couple of months ago I bought it because I knew it would last a while and it was an excellent price.
The thirst pockets come packed in a thin plastic which features the thirst pockets botanics name and we are told that this is a limited edition product and that this eight roll pack is a value pack. We are also told that the product is strong and absorbent which is of course something we want when we use a kitchen roll really. I have to say that generally with the value products I do end up using quite a lot each time and so it is perhaps a false economy to purchase these but with the branded thirst pockets in this value pack working out at just 50p per roll I knew I was getting excellent value.
The kitchen rolls are to me a standard looking size in terms of height but I do think they look thicker than the value brands I normally buy and so this automatically makes me think they are made from a thicker paper and are thus better quality. These botanics rolls feature a flower and leaf print around the roll and this covers about half of the height of the roll and so they do look nicer in your kitchen than just the plain white value ones. I do believe you can get plain white thirst pockets though as well as some other forms of decorated ones as well but I do quite like the look of this botanics one especially since we are coming in to Autumn and leaves are falling off the trees as it matches well. There is also a circular pattern of bumps on the sheets of kitchen towel which are of course the thirst "pockets" and are designed to draw in moisture from any spillages.
On each roll there are fifty sheets of kitchen towel and each sheet is a good size and so you do only really need one or two if you are using them to wipe down your kitchen surfaces after spraying anti back for example which is something that I often do with my kitchen towels. I also use kitchen roll for cleaning up spillages on the work top, my son's table and such like as well as wiping down the top of my hob and this product really does tackle those products with ease. When I would use a value product I would certainly need much more of the roll to clean things up as the roll sometimes rips but these sheets of thirst pockets are strong and do feel like they are a good quality, premium brand.
I have used four of my kitchen rolls in the couple of months I have had these and so I would say I get almost a couple of weeks out of a roll of fifty sheets which is very good value to be honest. I would normally go through a value roll in a week I think.
In terms of usual selling price I can advise that Sainsbury's have the eight roll pack on offer for £4.00 and Tesco have a four roll pack on offer for £2.00 and so these can be purchased on offer from time to time. The usual selling price of a two roll pack is around two pounds though and this is when I struggle to work out whether I am best invested in a higher quality product or just buying three rolls for a pound from my local discount store. Personally I think when I see this one on offer I will buy it and perhaps stock up but will stick to my value brands in between.
Thank you for reading my review!
