“ Brand: Vanish / Type: Carpet Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I'm forever trying out different carpet cleaning products for my carpets, sprays, shampoo's and now this. The kids are forever spilling things or making mess and everyday foot fall on carpets also causes them to gain dirt.
This Vanish power powder can be purchased in most major supermarkets at approx £6.99 for a 510g tub. It comes in a bright pink coloured container like all vanish products but in a large circular tub. This is quite expensive but was prepared to give it a go, It's for larger carpeted areas rather then spots here and there.
The scent from it is called clean and fresh pure air. It certainly does leave a lovely fresh scent behind after usage and contains a odour neutralizer. It is advertised to remove 5 x more dirt then an average cleaner and attacks dirt and dust deeply embedded into the carpet.
Now when you remove the lid from the container you will find it is like a large salt shaker with round hold in the top for shaking the powder out. It looks like a tub of snow as it is also quite light weight. I touched some to see what it was like and it reminded me of the texture of cornflour when rubbed between my fingers.
When you shake it out over the carpet some bits come out in larger chunks but it is again like snow and spreads over well. after shaking it over area you want to clean you get a brush and work it into the carpet, it does turn into a more powdery substance when you perform this action. What I didn't say it that the powder turns damp and leaves and carpet feeling wet to the touch, it is very strange and after leaving it approximately 20 minutes it is all dry again and you hoover it up. I found it hoovered up well without any trouble and you could definitely see the carpet was cleaner. I did rub certain areas a bit harder that had a mark on but on the whole I find this a great product that works well leaving clean fresh smelling carpets.
This container amount allowed me to do two rooms and my next mission will be to tackle the stairs. It is good that the carpets are dry so fast instead of waiting hours unable to enter a room because of wet carpets. My only wish is that this was cheaper to buy but it is a case of paying for quality.
Carpets really are the vein of my life! I have a chocolate Labrador, my sister's kids whom I look after a lot and my friends children. All this with beige carpets is a bad idea. I am forever using products to make my carpet look clean.
Vanish Power Powder - Deep Carpet Cleaning:
'Convenient deep carpet cleaning for large areas. Revolutionary fast drying moist Power powder removes tough ground in dirt and dust trapped deep in the carpet.'
I first spotted this on a television advert awhile back and well I got sucked in! From the claims it made, I really wanted to try it. The idea being that it is faster than other carpet cleaners, so no getting the larger carpet cleaner out. No getting down on your hands and knees scrubbing the carpet.
Sounded good to me, so off I went on the hunt to try and find it. When I purchased this for the first time it was cheaper than the prices they are asking now.
Nice and simple to use, you just sprinkle the powder over the carpet. Get your brush and rub it in and then you just leave it to work its 'magic' for twenty minutes. Once the time is up you simply vacuum the product up and it should leave you with sparkling clean carpets.
So now using the product in real life, I followed the instructions step by step. One ventilate the room well, two vacuum the carpet before use. Three shake the container; four remove the top and sprinkle evenly over the carpet. Now step five, with a soft bristle brush immediately brush the powder thoroughly into the carpet.
I did that for around ten minutes then left alone for twenty minutes just like instructed. Well my living room was freezing with the conservatory windows open, so I was hoping this was going to work! I started to vacuum up the powder and I didn't notice any difference what so ever.
I added extra product to some darkened patches when I started and just not one bit of difference. After all that time and effort, I wasn't very happy. So as it is a rather large tub (510g) I repeated the process thinking maybe it needed a little bit longer. So this time I left it for around thirty five minutes!
Now by vacuuming the powder up once more I did notice a slight improvement to the darker patches. But very slight certainly not worth all the time I put into cleaning the carpet. I could have foam cleaned it faster!
One good thing I guess is the clean scent, I love the smell of fresh cleaned items and it did smell rather nice. However I could have done the same job with Shake n Vac for a quarter of the price. Personally I would never purchase this product again and really do feel completely miss sold.
Vanish Power Powder comes in a bright pink tub so it really is hard to miss in the supermarkets. The lid is an easy screw off lid, no safety features so needs to be away from children. Once empty can be recycled.
Price and Availability:
I paid £4.00 for this product but looking at the prices now it is around the £6.00 mark. I personally feel this is way too much for the poor results archived.
I would never purchase this again and nor do I recommend this product, for me I found it a waste of time and money. Didn't do what it claimed so thumbs down in my book.
One out of five stars from me.
Thank you for reading.
