I'd recommend buying citric acid in powder form, and make your own acid solution by just mixing it with water. It's significantly cheaper than Viakal, and you can adjust the acidity level by just adding more or less water. It's also great for cleaning cat water fountains, and their water pumps, which get clogged up frequently with either limescale or catfood! You can actually hear it bubbling away inside the pump motor when you add the acid. Citric acid is also ideal for descaling your kettle element - just cover the element with water, add a tablespoon of citric acid powder and mix it in, then leave it for an hour or two, and voila: your kettle looks brand ... VIAKAL - limescale spray We don't live in an especially hard water area but we do get limescale around the ends of the taps and shower heads and also around where the tap joins the bath or sink. I also notice the shower screen getting cloudy in some areas. Ooops! I had previously bought some lime scale remover and hadn't read the instructions. When I sprayed it on the fairly new stainless steel taps I removed more than lime scale. Our taps are now a sort of mixture of stainless steel and darker looking pewter coloured shiny metal. We hadn't had our new bathroom very long before i did this and we have left them as they are because ... Read the complete review

When me and my husband moved into our house just over 3 years ago we spent a week doing all the decorating and cleaning that needed doing, we were lucky as who we purchased the house off had left it in excellent condition with a new bathroom and kitchen, however I'm a bit fussy and there were one of two things I felt needed a bit of extra cleaning, one of which was the kitchen sink and draining board which had really bad limescale and watermarks on it. In order to get rid of these and restore it back to its shiny self I purchased a bottle of Viakal as I knew the marks were too bad for vinegar to remove. Viakal has a good reputation for removing tough limescale from ... Read the complete review

As I live in a hard water area my taps and sink are often caked with limescale which builds up quickly and can be very hard to shift unless I find the right product. Viakal is the best lime scale remover I have ever found. The Label on the spray is slightly different than the one provided at the top of the page as they now have a new formula since that picture was published. The label is now is lighter blue with a picture of a shower head at the top of the label. The spray bottle has an easy grip trigger which is locked so you must twist to turn it on before using. The spray cleaner comes out as a fine spray and can cover a wide area ... Read the complete review

This is one of those cleaning products that until I had a place of my own I would never give a second glance at but that I now can't live without! THE LOVE AFFAIR BEGINS! It first came into its own when I was moving out of a rented flat and wanted to give it a really good spruce up before I left (to make sure I got my full deposit back!) After cleaning the bathroom I noticed all up the back of the tiles by the shower there were these horendous watermarks that I'd obviously been oblivious to for the last 6 months or convieniently chosen to ignore! Trusty old mom suggested I try this prodcut and there the love affair began! Viakal is ... Read the complete review
