Get Tough On Limescale
Member Name: k2705
Advantages: Removes tough limescale
Disadvantages: A bit expensive
When me and my husband moved into our house just over 3 years ago we spent a week doing all the decorating and cleaning that needed doing, we were lucky as who we purchased the house off had left it in excellent condition with a new bathroom and kitchen, however I'm a bit fussy and there were one of two things I felt needed a bit of extra cleaning, one of which was the kitchen sink and draining board which had really bad limescale and watermarks on it. In order to get rid of these and restore it back to its shiny self I purchased a bottle of Viakal as I knew the marks were too bad for vinegar to remove. Viakal has a good reputation for removing tough limescale from surfaces so I was hoping that it was going to work.
The Viakal comes in a white plastic bottle, this is wider at the bottom and thinner towards the top which makes it an ideal shape to hold, it also has a blue and white spray trigger on top which can be unscrewed if needed. The front of the bottle has a label stuck to it, the majority of this label is taken up with a picture of a shiny shower and pictures of different areas that you can use the product. Right in the middle of the label is the word Viakal written in a blue arrow head shape and outlined in red, just underneath this are further statements about the product. On the back of he bottle is a second label which contains all of the product information such as further information about Viakal, directions for use, what areas the product should not be used on and warnings. All of the information is clearly set out and easy to read.
Viakal is designed to remove limescale and water marks from various surfaces, it promises to remove 100% limescale and produce 100% shine, it is also a regular treatment and is suitable to use everyday, regular use will help prevent limescale from returning. Viakal is a clear coloured liquid, it does foam very slightly when sprayed onto a surface and it has quite a distinctive smell to it. The smell of Viakal is quite strong and can be overpowering if too much is used, to be honest I'm not sure what the fragrance of this product is supposed to be, it does have a slightly chemically smell to it but this is mixed with something else which I cannot tell exactly what it is. Before using Viakal it is worth reading the label on the back of the bottle as there are a few surfaces which this product cannot be used on, these include
* Acid sensitive surfaces such as gold, silver, copper and aluminium
* Coloured enamel
* Damaged or old enamel
* Plastic water boilers
* Natural stone
* Hot, damaged or scratched surfaces
* Electrical appliances
As well as the bottle stating where you cannot use Viakal, it also indicates where it can be used with the use of small pictures on the front of the bottle, these include
* Bathroom sinks
* Kitchen sinks
Directions for Use
Using Viakal is quite simple, however there are instructions on the back of the bottle which are also accompanied with small pictures. To use the Viakal you spray it onto the surface, wipe with either a dry or damp cloth and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. For extra tough stains or limescale you simply spray the Viakal on and leave for 5 minutes and then rinse with clean water and repeat if needed. After rinsing the Vaikal off there is no need to dry the surface with a cloth. It is recommended that you always do a small test patch on an area that cannot be seen before fully cleaning a surface just in case it is not suitable.
There are several warnings on the back of the bottle which should be adhered to at all times, such as
* Keep out of reach of children
* Avoid contact with eyes, if this occurs rinse immediately and seek medical advise
* Avoid prolonged contact with skin
* Do not inhale spray
* Do not mix wit bleach or other cleaning products
* Always use in a well ventilated area
* Do not ingest, if this happens seek medical advise
* Rinse hands after use
Price and Availability
Viakal can be purchased in most supermarkets, I bought my 500ml bottle from my local Tesco and it cost me £3.20, however it is currently on offer at two bottles for £4.00. Personally I think Viakal is a little bit on the expensive side, however I wanted it for a specific purpose so if it worked it would be well worth the money. However I have also found that it is long lasting, you really do not need much at a time meaning the bottle lasts a long time, personally I do not use this product everyday so a bottle lasts me even longer making it good value for money.
I have been very impressed with Viakal, when I first purchased it it really did work at making my sink shiny and removed all of the limescale and water marks. I have used Viakal on several occasions and have been pleased with the results every time, personally I do not use it every day and tend just to use it when I have tough limescale that needs removing. I particularly like Viakal is it is easy to use and can make your sink shiny very quickly without any hassle or mess. Whilst I think it is a little expensive it is worth the money as it really does work and does what it says it will, also if you do not use the product every day one 500ml bottle will last a long while, so I would say that it is good value for money, it can also be used in a variety of areas. Overall I would certainly recommend Viakal to anyone, it is an excellent cleaning product that lives up to its promises.
Summary: A product I would recomend
