“ Brand: Wilkinsons / Type: Cleaning Wipes / Category: Cleaning Products & Utensils > Wipes, Towels, Tissues „
Because I have asthma I can't use aerosol cleaning products around my house. Thankfully, there are many varieties of cleaning wipes, including those with antibacterial properties that will clean my kitchen and bathroom as well as a spray. I've tried many over the years, and I often purchase Wilkinson's own brand *lemon* wipes. I love these and use them whenever I can, but recently, when they were out of stock I decided to try the lavender-scented variant.
These wipes come in packs containing 40 wipes and cost around £1, although Wilkinsons often have multibuy offers on these and other cleaning products.
Wilkinsons have recently changed their packaging design from the image seen above: the wipes now come in a white-and-purple plastic heat-sealed package with the twee "Cheerio germs!" written in large text on the front. The product is the same as before from what I can tell though.
The packaging is opened by way of a perforated oval on the front through which a wipe can be pulled. To reseal the pack there is a clear plastic sticker which is fixed over the open hole to keep the remaining products moist. This is a good system in my experience and the wipes stayed moist right through to the final few, which were used several weeks after the package was opened.
The wipes themselves are made of a white fabric, and are folded in a concertina configuration, so as one wipe is removed another is brought to the top of the packet. Each wipe is around 12cm x 15cm, which I consider to be a good size for this type of product.
The wipes have a slightly sticky feel to them, and a very strong chemically scent which I find sickly sweet and barely reminiscent of real lavender. I used to grow lavender plants so I know that of which I speak!
The packaging claims that the wipes are effective against bacteria and viruses (including the H1N1 flu virus), remove grease and dirt and are quick and hygienic to use.
I can't vouch for the claim that they protect against bugs, but I have found them to be very effective in removing grease and food residue from my kitchen counters, cupboards, sink, oven and hob. It takes a bit of elbow grease, but I've used these wipes to get rid of gungy built-up residues in long-forgotten corners and they've worked well. They are definitely quick to use and easy to dispose of although, again as I'm not a microbiologist I can't vouch for the hygiene claim!
One downside for me are that these wipes leave a slightly tacky residue on surfaces which takes a while to disperse, but my main bugbear is with the chemically scent which is supposed to be of lavender. To me they smell horrid, and their 'scent' lingers for a long time after the wipes have been used and disposed of.
I much prefer the lemon-scented variant of this product, which cleans just as effectively but leaves my kitchen smelling much nicer! For cleaning I would award 5/5 but I'm knocking off a star for the smell.
A few months ago I read on 'hotukdeals' about a few bargains in Wilkinsons and decided to pop in on my lunch break and try to find some for myself. While I didn't find many of the items I was looking for they did have a load of these anti-bacterial lavender wipes with 75% off and reduced to just 24p each (if I remember correctly). They were a bargain and I decided that even if they weren't fantastic that I could use them for cleaning my kitchen cupboards and bathroom sides.
A packet of these wipes contains 40 wipes which are a fairly generous size and because they are anti-bacterial they are designed to remove bacteria that can cause colds, flu and other illnesses. I like to use anti-bacterial wipes as I like to know that important surfaces that are used regularly are kept clean & hygienic at all times. I do sometimes use anti-bacterial spray but then I worry about the cloths that I am using and end up using a ton of kitchen towel instead which ends up costing me a small fortune and making me feel bad for wastage too. These wipes come in a rectangle packet with a sticky label across the front. This has only just started to lose its stickiness on the pack I've just finish and I've probably opened and closed it around 20 times as I tend to use 2 wipes at a time, sometimes more depending on the task. I would say that the packaging is standard really and it is a nice purple colour which of course goes well with the lavender scent.
Lavender is a scent that I am a fan of and I often light lavender candles and spray lavender linen spray to ensure that my bedroom smells relaxing and fresh. I have mainly used these wipes for cleaning my windowsill, bookcase and bedside tablets in my bedroom. Because these have a little raised pattern all over them I find that they are very useful for removing coffee cup marks and other stains that tend to accumulate when I dump all sorts of rubbish on my bedside table, also, I feel confident knowing that if I've put a used tissue on the side in my sleep that these wipes will clear up any germs and ensure that my surfaces are kept clean and hygienic. These wipes are thick so they do not rip easily and they do have a light lavender scent to them. I do not find that the scent really transfers but if I clean all of the surfaces in a room I can faintly smell the lavender for an hour or two, perhaps a little more, but this is possibly just because the scent is in my nose if that makes sense?!
I would definitely recommend these wipes. When I purchased mine it would appear that the packaging was being re-branded as this has happened now and these wipes are now available once again in my local Wilkinsons store and on the Wilkinsons website for 98p. I feel that this price is a bargain as these wipes do keep surfaces wonderfully clean and hygienic and I would definitely use them again. I have used up 4 packets of these wipes now and they've been fantastically easy to use and have worked very well for me too.
From time to time I really let my flat go. Living on my own and not having all that many visitors means I don't feel I have to go overboard though from time to time I do get sick of living in state, go out and arm myself with loads of cleaning products and put the mess and debris right.
Whenever I buy Wilkinsons wipes I usually opt for the lemon scented ones that they sell. I like the fragrance of them and I trust them though the other week and for the first time I spotted these which are meant to be the same and do the same job but of course are lavender scented and I like the fragrance of lavender so opted to try them for a change and at about a pound for 40 wipes compared to many other types of this sort of product on the market I think they offer good value for my money.
These wipes comes in a purplish coloured plastic oblong packet and on the front of there is a large resealable area and on that we are told that they are 'New' Anti-Bacterial Lavender Wipes and there are 40 of them in the packet and that they are meant to kill kill E.Coli, Listeria and Salmonella and then on the back of the packet we are told a bit about the product, how to use them, the ingredients are listed and contact details for Wilkinsons are given. Nice packaging and I do like the fact that sticky resealable section on the front stays that way and its easy to pull out one sheet at a time too.
No size is stated on these wipes but they are of a good size. White in colour with an ingrained pattern in them they are thick enough but plyable. I use these on all sorts of small jobs in my home like wiping down my toilet and sink, even wiping laminate floors as they leave no greasy residue behined themselves. I also use them in the kitchen to wipe down surfaces though they are not great at say cleaning oven and hobs but these are great for more on the spot jobs!
These have a lovely soft scent of lavender to them which does smell of lavender but really isn't too strong and that fragrance lingers for a good while after using them and then when one gets dirty you simply bin it!
I really like these wipes. I find them hygenic and although I can't vouch for the fact that they kills germs cos I can't see them I do trust that they do and thats good enough for me!
Available only from Wilkinsons stores and also in a lemon scent!
I will say I love having a nice clean, tidy home but cannot say that I enjoy the cleaning process very much. This is why when it comes to cleaning I am always on the lookout for quick, easy solutions that will give me good results and not cost the earth. I usually always buy the Wilko's anti-bacterial lemon fragranced wipes but a couple of years ago I went through the stage of liking the fragrance of lavender for its calming scent. As I had lavender air freshener and bleach I thought I would try the lavender anti-bacterial wipes to so there was not a fragrance clash in my home.
As they are a Wilkinson's own brand you can therefore only buy them in Wilkinson's. They are priced at 97p for a pack of 40 wipes and are often on offer. My last purchase was for two packs for £1.50 which I think is great value compared to the branded wipes and a packet does last quite a while.
The wipes come in a purple plastic packet, there is a peel able opening which allows you to dispense the wipes and then stick back closed to keep them moist and fresh.
On the back of the packet you can find directions for use for the wipes but to me this is quite self-explanatory. It does also state under the warnings section to test wipes on small sections of new surfaces in case of a reaction. I have used these wipes all around my home and have yet to have any adverse reactions to anything I have used them on.
The wipes themselves are a nice size and pretty strong, I have never had a wipe tear even when I have been quite rough with them. They also have quite a strong lavender fragrance which some people may find a little strange to use as a wipe to cleanse surfaces such as in the kitchen etc. I will admit that I found this is little odd to so tended to just use them in the bathroom and on door handles etc rather than in the kitchen.
The wipes claim to be effective against E.coli, Listeria and Salmonella, in my opinion I find it much more hygienic to use the wipes than to have cloths sat around breeding bacteria that they have picked up off surfaces.
I generally only use the lemon fragranced wipes now I find the fragrance to be a little more user friendly and suitable around the whole home. The wipes clean quickly and effectively have a great floral fragrance and are excellent value. Therefore I would definitely recommend them to anyone to have in their cleaning cupboard for a handy anti-bacterial cleaning solution but only if you like lavender.
Since we got our puppy a few months ago, both my Fiance and I have been trying relentlessly to house train him. On the whole things are working out for us on this front, however occasionally Bailey does have the odd little accident. Therefore, anti-bacterial wipes are a neccessity in our house and we get through about 4 or 5 packets in a week.
I always used to buy lemon scented Cif or Flash strongweave wipes, but at around £1.50 a pack these were proving to be an expensive must have buy for us. It was upon perusing the aisles of my new favourite shop - Wilkinsons that I came across their own brand of anti-bacterial wipes for only 77p a pack! What a bargain I thought. I picked them up as I had nothing to lose in giving them a shot at this cheaper price.
The fact that these particular wipes are lavender scented was something that impressed me. I was becoming bored with the lemon, zesty smell from the previous branded wipes that I was using, so having a nice lavender fragrance around the home was a pleasant change.
Each pack contains 40 wipes. In a nutshell the wipes contain disinfectant and effectively kill off bacteria, salmonella, e-coli and listeria that may be lurking on various household surfaces for up to twelve hours.
These wipes are strong, adequately moist and are fit for the job in hand. They are of the same thickness as more expensive brands that I have previously used and to be honest I could not notice any remarkable differences in quality between Wilko's own brand and those other brands at all.
Another aspect that impressed me about this product was the fact that these wipes are easily dispensed from their packet and do not attach to one another. With the Flash wipes that I used before, I often found that two wipes would come out stuck to one another and this was something that annoyed me somewhat, as many wipes would end up getting wasted.
For 77p you really cannot go wrong with these wipes. They work well, do what they promise on their packet and smell really nice. I was very happy with this purchase and in future I will continue to buy this particular product along with other Wilkinson's own brand products.
I'm sure that you will be just as impressed as I am with these wipes and if you are not, then don't hesitate to return them back to Wilkinson's as they are covered by the Wilko cash back promise. So what have you got to lose?
I love shopping in Wilkinson's. they are the only shop that is cheaperthan the pound shop and better quality too!
I have bee shopping in Wilkinsons for years now and always try to buy things there as they are always the cheapest and have such great offers.
I HATE cleaning. I would rather do anything than cleaning. Not all cleaning, just dusting. I'm sure I'm not alone though!
It's such a thankless job and we live on a busy main road, so when you have finished dusting, you an go straight back and find dust literally seconds after you have dusted. I do find dusting difficult sometimes as I have a bad back. I am fine with anything on eye or waist level but above or below that, after a while my back starts to hurt and ache a lot. Due to this I have to clean when I can and in small sections. So often by the time one area is clean, the cycle starts again.
This is where these wipes come in handy. At 99p for 40 and sometimes on offer for just 77p for the 40 pack they are very reasonable and go a long way.
They are moist enough to dampen a surface but not so wet that you flood it and damage antyhing. They work great in the kitchen and bathroom and I also use them to dust around my bedroom and living room.
They are so quick and easy and not at all fussy. Sometimes with the cleaning the worst part is getting it all out and putting it away again after for me. With these you just grab one from the packet whenever you need it.
They come in a self-sealing packet, just like baby wipes and the seal keeps them moist for ages, just make sure you close it properly!
Lets be honest, these wipes are not an essential. You could use loads of other cleaning products/items, but what they are is handy and quick to use.
I like them so much because if I have been a bit lazy and not done the cleaning and someone turns up unexpected, I can grab one of these and quickly clean up. I think they're great.
I am not a big fan of lavendar but the fragrance isn't too overpowering and quickly dies down, a bit like polish.
Wilko anti bacterial wipes are the convenient way to ensure bacteria free surfaces. The packet states that they are effective against e.coli, listeria and salmonella.
I use them for absolutely everywhere, kitchen, bathroom, tabletops, floors everything!! They do make me a bit lazy if Im honest as its so quick just to get a wipe out rather than sponge and water!
They are easily stored too, ideal for limited storage space- I find I have a cuboard full of specialist products that take up so much room and I never use them as these wipes do just as good a job!!
The packet is fully recyclable with a self sticky, peel back opening for the wipes- It does lose its stick after a while but usually towards the end of the pack anyway. I have in the past just put the pack in a food bag and this has stopped them drying out.
They clean really well, with enough moisture to get off most stains without leaving residue or streaky marks. However they would not really be suitable for real stubborn, dried/baked on stains.
You really cant go wrong with these as they come with the wilko cash back promise- if you are not happy with your purchase you simply return it and get your money back!- great!
A packet of 40 wipes costs 98p which I think is fantastic value- about half the price as leading brands.
Also available in lemon fragrance.
As I've mentioned before in my previous reviews, I love to use anything that has an antibacterial agent in it. As I feel that my home is then fresh and clean. Now one of my favourites are the wipes you can buy as you can just pull one out and wipe over many things that get grubby, like your telephone ( especially if someone using it before has a stinking cold!), light switches and around door handles ect....
Now I usually go for the well known brands like Dettol,Jeyes Parozone, Cif, Flash and so on, so when I saw these ones on Wilkinsons on special offer I thought I would give them ago. As they looked quite a bit bigger than the ones I was using at present which are Parozone. When I got these home I compared them together and the Wilko ones are a lot larger and thicker, it was quite surprising to see so I got the tape measure out so I could tell all you Dooyoors the exact size of each so here goes as follows;
Parozone-13cm X 16cm
Wilkinsons-17cm X 21cm
Quite a bit of difference, the texture is similar with the same slight pattern in the cloth. I had noticed in the past that when I got the Parozone wipe out it was hard to clean things as by the time you grab hold of it theres not a lot to clean with ( I don't have giant hands by the way!). So down to the cleaning these Wilko ones have a strongish smell of lavender, but not to overpowering as to stink everywhere out. I rubbed it over the bathroom fitments and tiles where shampoo had been spilt ( no one else seems to see things like that only ME!!) and it wiped up really well.
Now these wipes claim to effectively kills E.Coli, Listeria and Salmonella, and once the wipe has been used the residual anti-bacterial action will last for up to 12 hours, so thats good to know. These are safe to use in the kitchen, bathroom, nursery and anywhere you suspect there could be germs lurking.
Now on the back it shows you how to use these wipes, Peel back label; now this label is very large (well it has to be for such a large wipe!) and pulls back nicely to let you grab a wipe which also comes out of the packet very easily not in a bunch like I've had with other brands. One at a time. Next Reseal; This reseals very well again not like others that don't seal up and then go on the dry out.
Use each wipe on one surface and throw away after so not to spread bacteria from one place to another. Importantly don't flush down the toilet as these could cause blockages ( It definitely would with my drains) just pop into the bin.
These are not suitable for soft furnishings and it also points out just incase you didn't know these are not for personal use ( dam such a nice smell as well!!).
The best part I have kept to last as these are on special at the moment ( well they were yesterday!) where you can get not one but two packs for a mere 97p YEP I was surprised as well and when I got them home and saw how much bigger they were I was even more pleased. These also come in a lemon fragrance, so I got one of each. Today I have asked Hubby if he pops out to the shops in his lunch hour to pick me up a load more.
A large 5 stars for these wipes!!
I didn't realise that I could write so much about a WIPE!
What is it?
Some cleansing wipes by Wilkinson's.
They are cleansing wipes which have anti-bacterial action. Suitable for use in the home around the kitchen, nursery, bathroom and anywhere where bacteria may be present. It claims to leave surfaces hygienically clean against E.Coli, Salmonella and Listeria. The wipes also have residual anti-bacterial action for up to 12 hours.
What do I think of them?
My mum absolutely loves them and uses them for everything and everywhere, anywhere she feels will breed bacteria. They are indeed very handy and convenient, especially when you just want to quickly mop up or clean up some mess in as little time as possible.
These particular ones have a subtle lavender scent to them which is quite nice, as many others we have used have tended to have quite strong aromas. I find that these are also much gentler on the skin. Some previous wipes I have used had left the skin on my fingers flaking a few after using them.
The wipes themselves are reasonably thick, although I do find that I need to fold them once over for really messy things. The wipes themselves are quite sturdy and don't tear easily. I think it would be much nicer if the wipes were much larger in size as sometimes there is a need for two or three sheets to be used at a time when there has been quite a large spill or a large area of surface to be cleaned.
The wipes come in a pack of 40 sheets at around 95p per pack. They used to be only around 70p per pack which was a much more reasonable price particularly for the quality and durability of the wipes, strangely, they are now a bit more expensive than many of the well-known brands, however, these are certainly one of the best and most effective ones I have used.
Thanks for reading. xx
This wipes are very handy to have either in the house or in the car where ever it may be! You can use them for the kitchen, bathroom, the car dash board or even if your out in the garden you can use them to clean the table etc!
These smell great and are very much worth the 85p for a pack of 40!!! When you have a baby or children in genral these can be used to clean toys and highchairs as they are antibactirial!
I have never liked paying a bomb for cleaning products when there are much cheaper options in the market and they all do the same job! Wilkinsons have a great range of cheap products so why waste your money specially with the credit crunch! These are very easy to use and are quite strong so wont fall apart whilst getting those stains out of your kitchen surface!
In conclusion i would recommend these as they are easily used, smell great and value for your money! x
I always tend to keep a packet of cleaning wipes in the house, because whilst they're not exactly economical, they are convenient, and therefore useful to have on hand. I usually buy the Wilkinson's Lemon fragranced Anti-Bacterial Wipes, but last time I went shopping they didn't have any, so I reluctantly got the Lavender ones. I'm not overly keen on the scent of lavender, however the alternative brands of wipes were a lot pricier, and one thing I hate spending money on is cleaning products, so I just got these anyway.
The wipes come in a lilac coloured pack, with a sticky resealable tab on the top. I'm sure you know the kind of thing I mean - like a pack of baby wipes. There is a picture of some gleaming tiles with a bunch of lavender sprigs laid on them. I find the plastic of the pack is quite thick and durable and the tab stays sticky until the last wipe, meaning the wipes stay moist.
So what are the wipes for? Well, the wipes are impregnated with an anti-bacterial solution, so are basically a quick way to disinfect the surfaces of your home whilst cleaning them. The pack does advise to test the wipes on an inconspicuous area before using, but the only surface it tells us not to use the wipes on, is on soft furnishings - something I would have thought pretty obvious!
The wipes are fairly thick - not the thickest I have used - but thick enough not to tear whilst using them. They have a sort of pattern on the surface and a very faint lavender smell. I was actually quite surprised how gentle the smell is - for someone who doesn't like lavender, I found these to be totally fine, scent wise.
The wipes are very versatile, being suitable for so many surfaces in the home, but I tend to use a bottle of cleaning spray and a cloth, rather than using these all the time. I do find that they are useful for little jobs, such as wiping down the front of the washing machine, cleaning the phone or wiping sticky finger prints from doors. I find the wipes get most things clean, but saying that, I never use them on tough stains, they are mainly for the little jobs I have just mentioned. I don't think their cleaning power would be strong enough to get rid of say burnt on stains on a hob for example.
Since I have the pack in front of me, I have just used them to give my keyboard a quick wipe over. I usually always wear gloves when cleaning to protect my hands, but on this occasion I didn't. Having only used one wipe, I am now actually finding that my hands are feeling quite dry and irritated. I do have quite sensitive skin, which becomes dry easily, but I'm still surprised that one wipe, which could have been in my hand for no longer than half a minute, has had this effect, and is something to bear in mind.
A pack of 40 wipes will cost you just 85p from Wilkinson's.
So, in conclusion, these are handy to have around the house for smaller jobs, although personally I would not use them as a part of my every day cleaning.
Kills bacteria all around the house.
