Stick it!!
I used to work in an office and I got used to seeing these little sticky sheets of paper everywhere!! So what exactly is a Post it Note? Did you know that Post-it note is actually a trade mark name. According to an article I read Post-it notes were invented by 3M's Art Fry, using an adhesive developed by a colleague, Spencer Silver. Until the 1990s, when the patent expired, they were produced only in the 3M plant in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Accepted generic terms for competitors include "sticky notes", "repositionable notes", and "repositional notes" but to be honest I think everyone I know still call them post-it notes. Although other companies now produce sticky or repositionable notes, most of the world's Post-it Brand notes are still made in Cynthiana.
Post it notes are handy little items of stationery that I would go so far as saying are present in just about every office across the country and probably in the world. A post it note is a little piece of stationery that has a sticky strip on the back. They are great as the sticky strip is re-adherable so you can stick it on one file and then move it to another when you need to, it will continue to stick for ages and I have actually seen old files from years past that still have stick it notes on them which still re-stick so they must be a good quality item. Apparently this is due to a unique low-tack adhesive which allows the notes to be easily attached and removed without leaving marks or residue. This is definitely true, these never leave a sticky mark or grease like blu-tak or sticky tape. I have used them for years and as well as being great for the office they are perfect for the home too. I will stick little notes on the fridge if I need to remember something or to write down numbers by the telephone to make sure I remember to call someone back or give the message to my husband when he gets home. I think this is a perfect way of writing down messages so you don't have to remember send an e-mail to someone in the office or wait until my husband returns to give hime the message that I will probably forget in the meantime!
When they were first released the original Post-it notes were yellow and these are the ones I still like to use but nowadays they do them in a rainbow of different colours and sometimes to make the monotony of the work day a bit more fun you can play with the different colours and make fun pictures, etc, I really must have had some boring days. When you buy a pack they come all stuck together at the top in a pad form and you can actually buy dispensers which make it a little easier to pull one from another. We see to have lots of these little pads floating about the house but they are so handy and definitely a product that I recommend for either the home or the office.
